Just wondering what Model X Founder and Signature Cars really mean?
Is there a difference in built and design?
The Founders are driving....the Sigs are waiting. Only difference as far as I know.
Other than the badging, I believe the answer is no.
Looking at the sticker on Mark1's Founder X, no difference.
The real difference is that Founder Xs are real and Sigs are imaginary.
I believe that the Founders' cars were probably mostly built by hand while the Sig's are mostly coming off the assembly line, and then tweeked by hand. Other than that probably no differences. My opinion only!
Just badges that say either "Founder" or "Signature". Oh, and special vins that have "F" or "S" in it.
Where are the badges located?
Side marker lights near the front wheel well.
What qualifies a Founder? That seems a little more nebulous.
Good question. Call Elon. He should be able to tell you. And if you had his phone number, you wouldn't have to ask. ;-)
I believe there are badges the door sills too. And obviously on the touch screen! ;-)
I believe the cars won by the people who successfully referred 10 buyers won a Founders version.
One was won by a lady in Sydney, Aus.
Does that mean those regional winners get their cars first?
That would mean shipping one to Aus, one to Europe etc.
That article I posted said there are 51 Founders cars.
Someone on one of these threads talked about getting still waiting for their founder 53. Can't remember which thread.
They are being referred to as FbR (Founders by Referral). Supposedly they will be produced after the Signature versions and before the General Production starts. Not sure how they'll do that though since they haven't asked Signature reservations in other countries to configure.
Although, they should be able to run those FbR at any point since their paint shop and production line is much more flexible than it was when they started the Model S production.
