We will find out
No, Bernie is getting ‘cratted again.
The Democratic establishment will never let that happen.
Perhaps because the Democratic "establishment" doesn't want another four years of Trump, and decimation of the down ballot?
I didn't say they were wrong.
No, Trump will win by a LANDSLIDE!!
Unlikely to get the nomination
Liz Warren is probably playing both sides in hope of being made VP. First one that makes her an offer will win if it gets down to the wire and they need her support to win. She doesn't want to decide until some other states have primaries or a clear frontrunner since if she endorses the losing candidate then her career will be over.
I suspect Liz is negotiating to have some say in the platform. I don’t think she wants to be VP
My guess is that the "Democratic Establishment"....whoever they are....will put up Joe Biden, because he'll be easier and easier to control as he loses it more and more..sort of a repeat performance of the Mueller report.
Democratic voters say Biden will win.
Biden won when it went to voters with a massive turnout (bigger than Obama primaries) which is what doomed Hillary in the end, voter apathy, looks like Trump has fixed the picky stay at home Democrats issue especially black and Latino voters. They want Biden and he'll be a good president.
On EV based issues, Biden and Sanders are close.
For EV's, increasing the EV credit to $10k and making it a straight up credit vs. a tax credit which can be problematic for working families and apply to all EV's going forward. Big help for Tesla and GM.
Bernie sanders is a communist. He would destroy what this country was founded for and the principals we believe in. Biden is part of the establishment swamp, look at what he used his son for. It's clear that when a politician gets into office, and becomes a multi millionaire, they're not in for the right reasons.
Trump is possibly the best president this country has ever had. He is really turning things around and fixing a lot of what Obama destroyed. IT is a very long road to return our country back to the founding documents and principals, but work is underway.
America is a nation founded on individualism, freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Nothing in life is given to us and we all must work for what we have. Life is not fair. America has had great success for those simple principals. Our founding fathers set this country up for infinite success and infinite possibility.
If anyone likes Bernie, please go live in Europe, Venezuela, Russia, China, Etc. There are many other countries out there that support ideologies such as his and I never understood why people want to change our country. It is great the way it is.
Our country is the most prosperous country and most wealthy country in the world. We didn't get there on communist principals or socialism. We got there with capitalism. Why smite the very system that allowed you to afford a Tesla, afford a beautiful home, have a dream job, etc?
"Why smite the very system that allowed you to afford a Tesla, afford a beautiful home, have a dream job, etc?"
Because it is killing the planet with global warming. The US is the most "capitalistic" and is attacking the science simply to protect short term profits the more "socialistic" EU and China lead on solving global warming.
Trump/GOP oppose adoption of EV's. Biden/Sanders/Demos are for it.
Pretty stark contrast on EV issue. Best to focus on specifics vs. the 30,000 foot views which become an exchange of meaningless cliches like "socialism" and "capitalism".
This is an EV forum, focus on EV issues and who promotes them, who opposes them.
Where do candidates stand on Tesla's Mission Statement might be an appropriate metric for political discussion on Tesla forum.
"Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy."
In the bible, God says he is the ruler of the earth and the heavens, and he will decide the end of the earth. Hebrews 1 verse 10 “In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. 11They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment.…"
The worry over climate change is manufacturer'd by scientist that don't understand or even grasp the interior of our own planet, and gravity is still a theory not law. The weather can't be predicted to 100% absolute, there is always a chance of being wrong. Certainly not people I care to take my advice from.
Trump is for the free, fair market. You do realize when Bill Ford asked for help with the EPA regulations on ICE engines, Trump said tough luck? I think subsidies for EV's are ridiculous, and unfair to ICE manufacturers. Ultimately it's the tax payer, or us that foots the bill. If an EV can't be price comparative to an ICE, it shouldn't receive subsidies to make is so.
Number 1: I sure hope so sleeper cell code name Red Comrade won't win or we can wave good buy to American way of life.
Number 2: Trump is not greatest President nor he is the worst.
Number 3: Whoever wins will be the President and we go from there as I stated in different thread Thanks God we elect Presidents every 4 years. As long as Democracy lives on we should be good.
And now we all finally see that Bucky is anti EV Maga God loving troll.
Here is an interesting read that was classified by the US government.
"Ultimately it's the tax payer, or us that foots the bill. If an EV can't be price comparative to an ICE, it shouldn't receive subsidies to make is so."
One could consider the $15T in oil war debt as a subsidy for ICE cars. Any economic strategy based on US national security would require non-oil using transport system. In addition to the $500B a year in unnecessary war/weapons costs, the cost of ICE vehicles is $300B in oil import costs, both huge taxes on US economy that are spent overseas, draining resources from US economy.
The oil industry itself has gotten huge direct subsidies such as free use of public land, Intangible Drilling Costs Deduction, Percentage Depletion, Credit for Clean Coal Investment, Non-Conventional Fuels Tax Credit (which is $12 to coal companies). It's about $20B a year to fossil fuel companies. One year of fossil fuel gov't subsidies is what EV tax credit will likely be over its lifetime.
It is government's function to look past short term profits and for long term sustainability and public good.
Bernie should start the Socialist Party if he has the nomination stolen from him for the second time.
"Bernie should start the Socialist Party if he has the nomination stolen from him for the second time."
Bernie lost the election by 1,000,000 votes. That's how democracy works. In Bernie's case, black and Latino and working class voters don't like him. This has happened twice to him and both times he blames the votes and other candidates for his failure to get the votes.
We have record turnout of voters in this primary, second only to when Obama ran and won. Those voters have chosen Biden.
We don't live in a democracy. It's a republic.
And you made a part of your money from the lending to others countries after WW2
And built a strong economy after Europe got completely destroyed
I was told if had lost WW2 be we would all be driving Volkswagens and be speaking German. But we are all buying Toyotas and Honda's and learning Japanese instead. Guess they had the last laugh on us.
You're pushing, no hammering on, every button. When I start seeing reports of spontaneous head explosions, I'll blame you.
On one point I agree with Sam0. That Hillary was a slam dunk to win yet lost tells me that just assuming that a more moderate Dem is more electable was wrong. Hillary was too arrogant, neglected the blue collar workers and likely misogyny played a part. The email nonsense was just an excuse. In response to the email saga the country elects a Mafia don with a dozen of his cronies in jail. The real issue is that the Democratic Party is a broad constituency. And the reality we need to appease millennials, blue collar workers in industrial states, non whites and suburban females. The white conservative male is a waste of time. They were the ones who voted for Trump. And they are the ones who are threatening to vote for Trump if the Dem candidate is not conservative enough. But they cannot even be trusted to vote for Biden. Do you really think that adapting policies to appease people like Tesla2018, Neo, JT or even Mitch is guarantee that they would vote for Biden. Who needs their favors. If they want to vote for Trump they will vote for Trump anyway. If they have suddenly realized that they elected a dishonest incompetent buffoon then their only solution is to vote Democrat whoever it is. I would rather try bring out the new face of the Democratic Party. Bernie seemed to have them with all the donations he is getting and the polls. 2018 showed that the public is less interested in the white male conservative candidate and got the people out to vote. That being said, Bernie did not prove himself on Super Tuesday. And if he doesn’t win in places like Michigan and Ohio going forward Biden will collect more delegates. And the people that matter will rally around Biden
And I think Bernie should chose Larry David as his running mate. LOL Just kidding
Wait, what? I thought Hillary lost because of Russia.
Russia did interfere. That is not debatable. And Tump and family almost certainly colluded even though they managed to hinder the investigation through obstruction of justice and the interference of Barr saved him. He should have been impeached for this as well. However it would still have been blocked by his lap dog Republicans. And before you come up with more denials or some attack on Obama at least read the Mueller report.
“That Hillary was a slam dunk to win yet lost tells me that just assuming that a more moderate Dem is more electable was wrong.”
Hillary won by 3,000,000 votes. What cost her (and the US) the election and Trump debacle was about 30,000 votes in some key states. Apathy on the part of the Democratic voters with low turnout among blacks, Latinos and working class whites. The record turnout in the Democratic primaries by all demographics bodes well for Biden winning the election.
To the primary, Biden will win over Sanders by well over 1,000,000 votes, fair and square.
"Hillary won by 3,000,000 votes. "
News flash! Hillary did NOT win.
More correctly.....WE ALL LOST.
Are we going to do it to ourselves again?
Yes. Because we've adopted the Soviet Union policy of selecting the oldest person in the country to lead the country. And when they die, they are replaced by the oldest person in the country.
I could be president in 25 years.
“ Hillary won by 3,000,000 votes. What cost her (and the US) the election”
What “cost” her the election was her strategy.
Until the Democrats get over their "identity politics", winning over large segments of the politically incorrect.will remain difficult for them. Power should be won by character and deed....not by race and/or gender.
Hcwhy. However the broad umbrella of the Dems encompasses people with diverse interests. Younger folk care about health insurance, college. Older people have Medicare and social security and want to keep it. Everyone is scared of Trump losing and have different ideas of electability which I am not sure anyone understands. This divides the party into a more conservative and a more liberal wing. I am hopeful that the primary should sort out who we believe is more electable and a better candidate. And the party needs to unite behind the winner.
"What “cost” her the election was her strategy."
What cost her and the US the election was the old slavery era protector, the Electoral College. US got rid indirect elections in US Senate and never finished the job by dumping the Electoral College. We got rid of slavery, now we can get rid of its protection.
We've had the twin disasters of Bush II/AWD Iraq War and Great Recession and now Trump, both minority presidents and the consequences.
"We've had the twin disasters of Bush II/AWD Iraq War and Great Recession and now Trump, both minority presidents and the consequences."
Oh no! Hell has frozen over.
"What cost her and the US the election was the old slavery era protector, the Electoral College"
She knew the rules. She came up with a losing strategy.
Do think Biden/Harris are going to win big. The Democratic Party voter turnout is higher than 2008 with Obama and Biden gives even the GOP moderates a way to not vote for Trump. So it should be as big a sweep as Obama's.
Just pointing out- The Electoral College is not a new concept. The idea of gathering 270 total electoral votes is not new. As a kid in the '80s we had a computer game called Campaign Manager, (where we had to type in the code, printed in the back of some magazine like Family Computing or similar) where you had to "campaign" for 13 weeks. Every week you made campaign visits, dropped advertising, etc in various states. Each week, you got updated polling, and then you planned your strategy for the following week. After 13 rounds, "the country" voted. It was pretty easy to understand as a 13-year old 35 years ago. It rings hollow for Hillary to say she got "screwed" in 2016.
Trump's team knew they weren't winning in CA, NY, or MA, so they didn't waste any time there. They knew whether it was 52% - 48%, or 82%- 18%, the electoral votes were going Democrat. So they spent their time and resources in the swing states. Hillary stayed with her homies in the blue states, and played the victim in November.
Complaining about the total vote is no different than an NFL team with a 6-10 record complaining that they scored the most field goals but didn't make the playoffs. The deciding factor was Electoral votes (Wins in the NFL analogy), not total votes. I am not taking sides, but please, let's all be honest about what happened four years ago.
Democrats are always rationalizing their defeats. It’s getting pretty repetitive.
"Just pointing out- The Electoral College is not a new concept."
It was a demand by the slave states to try and protect slavery from majority voters. We got rid of indirect elections in all by Presidential race for solid democratic reasons. EC serves the same purpose today, no more drastic example the disastrous Bush II and Trump elections, both opposed to equality, one man one vote.
There's a reason GOP is crazy on voter suppression, the more people vote, the greater the GOP losses.
To the 2020 election, the huge Democratic turnout on recent Super Tuesday bodes well for democracy being able to overcome the anti-democratic EC and GOP. To this topic, that huge turnout especially among blacks, Latinos and working class whites went to Biden, not Sanders. Sanders was winning the GOP way with indirect, exclusionary caucuses. When it went to democratic elections, the voters chose Biden by big majority.
Don't know if it's just election time or what but I see signs on Mexican restaurants twice today "No es mi presidente", that's a big risk putting your political views on the front of your business. Those are committed voters.
Too funny. Only 5 Presidents won elections by Electoral College but some how it's a big problem now for Democrats. Yeah, let's bring big guns and call it slavery time left overs.
But buying voters by promising free everything is just fine. Including legalizing illegals. Why my family had to follow the law and do all the paperwork and pay all the fees but it's ok to break the law for others and have a nerve to demand free stuff from government? Just tell me why?
@FISHEV. Trump has been so divisive and the hardcore MAGA hatters are the scum of the earth. I suspect most Mexicans would prefer not to have them show up to their restaurants. When Trump’s cabinet show up to restaurants they often get harassed. Winning the election does not suddenly turn them respectable. As Sarah Palin used to say. “You cannot put lipstick on a pig”
“Only 5 Presidents won elections by Electoral College but some how it's a big problem now for Democrats.”
Big problem for nation, WMD phony war, Great Recession and Trump chaos, all due to presidents who lost democratic vote in 21st century, US is regressing and we have paid a huge cost for it.
