Yawn. Steel is already stronger than titanium and cheaper. Always has been. BUT it is nearly twice as dense.
@DTsea You didn't look at the article--the claim is that this new steel alloy has the same strength-to-weight ratio as titanium. So a panel would have the same strength as titanium for the same weight.
Yes i did. But atrength to weight doesnt size all parts. And titanium/aluminum alloys with nano scale crystal structure control as stated in the article is no where near industrial scale application.
