How can I do a search on this forum?

Is there a way to search for a topic on this forum? I suspect my questions may have already been answered. I just need a way to find them.

Hi @Mark. How to search the forum is here:

https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/owners-manual-companion-faq

It will also answer many questions that you may have.

Although there is not a very good search method on this forum, you can help yourself.

First, download and install the Chrome browser,
Second, move up to the three dots in the right corner, to access the browser "Customize and Control" options,
Third, move down to "More tools" and select "Extensions"
Look for and install the extension called "Tesla Forum Enhancement Suite"
To make sure they work, close and reopen the browser, connect to Tesla forums.

Now, you will see a search option from inside the Chrome browser.
It works very well compared to most of the other search methods we can use.
Thanks to bdrathburn for the "Tesla Forum Enhancement Suite"

Some of the things the Tesla Forum Enhancement Suite does include:

Blocks spam, trolls, etc. by searching for selected text and filtering out posts and
comments that match. Improves styles for blockquotes and preformatted text.
Adds links to "1st Comment", "Make a Comment" and conditionally to "Last Comment"
to the top of each post. Finally it adds a Google Site search bar to the top of each
page—Forums Home, Thread Lists/Main Sections (for example, General or Model S)
and each individual thread/Original Post (OP).

I don't see the "Tesla Forum Enhancement Suite" on the Chrome Webb Store.

Instead of recommending technical workarounds like downloading Chrome or other things, I guess a simple search field on top of every page in this forum would help...most forums have this..

akikiki | 24 marts 2017

well, e-x-c-u-s-e meeeeeee.....

Rocky_H | 24 marts 2017

@thomas, But the point is that the site DOESN'T have that. They've gone for years refusing to put in real forum software, so workarounds are all the help we can offer.

thomas_stahl | 25 marts 2017

Hi akikiki, excuse accepted :-) and sorry for not valuing the proposed workarounds.....did not know that Tesla is refusing to use professional forum software...which is disappointing

akikiki | 25 marts 2017

thomas_stahl, buy me a beer and all is forgiven. Its been this way for 5+ years. There's been threads begging TM to add that feature. Nuthin' honey. So we live with it. :)

JeffreyR | 25 marts 2017

@akikiki +1 thanks for the nod to the TFES:

https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/tesla-forum-enhancement-suite-tfes...

@thomas_stahl It took me and BDR a lot of work to make the TFES. So any support is appreciated. And, yeah real forum sw would be nice! :^)

StatsApp | 25 marts 2017

This iOS app let you search this form: https://appsto.re/i67G2rh
It also provides several other unique features:
- Charge reminder if the car is not plugged it and battery is low
- Doors open notification
- Charge record stats

akikiki | 26 marts 2017

Thank you JeffreyR. I use your extensions every day. Makes a difference. In the future, I will credit both you and BDR. Thank you for your efforts.

EVRider | 26 marts 2017

@JeffreyR: I'll update my "HOW TO SEARCH THE FORUM" topic later today to include a reference to TFES. I'll also remove the HTML tags that no longer work. :-(

akikiki | 26 marts 2017

EVRider, Glad to see you adding that. Bravo !!

frankie.fingers | 26 marts 2017

In Google or Bing, you can append the site name to your search like this:

play cd in model s site:forums.tesla.com

The search will only return entries from the Tesla Forum.
