4.0 Software update out soon

4.0 Software update out soon

Haven't seen anything official from TM, but here is a summary of the upcoming 4.0 Software update

Love the door handle change
Still waiting for the station changer on the steering wheel to go to next programmed station rather the search for next available signal on the dial. Easy fix TM, get in it.

Just received the 4.1 upgrade this AM. Just minor updates to retrieving audio selections, I think.

@Carmine - do you really mean 4.1? What's the full software version?

STEVEZ | 22. Dezember 2012

I got 4.1 early this a.m.: it's v 1.19.27.

Carmine | 22. Dezember 2012

nickjhowe, STEVEZ- I received v 1.19.29.

HaroldS | 22. Dezember 2012

I also received V1.19.29. It would have been nice to have some notes indicating what was fixed, but we're just referred back to the V4.0 Release Notes.

I'm hoping that the bug which reset the Units from kilometers back to miles every time the displays powered down is fixed. Maybe the ubiquitious false "Low Washer Fluid" warning will also go away now.

I'm still plodding along with 1.15.14. No 4.x update for me yet!

4.1 Update today new message paraphrased

The battery is cold. If you have the Tesla Mobile app preheat 30 minutes before driving...

The mobile app should be out soon!!!

sergiyz | 22. Dezember 2012

chort67 | 22. Dezember 2012

Sig performance delivered 11/30 no 4, 4.1 or any updates :(

TikiMan | 22. Dezember 2012

4.1 going up tonight. I think I will try and shoot a little video of the sound and light show.

Brian H | 23. Dezember 2012

Yes, do! Think of it as the death throes of bugs. An the birth pangs of new ones!

Brian H | 23. Dezember 2012

typo: And the birth ...

TikiMan | 23. Dezember 2012

Well, I tried to upload the 4.1 upgrade last night, and like last time, all the sudden I get the dreaded... "Replace 12 Volt Battery Soon" (warning message) and now it won't upload the new software.

Last time I got the message, I took it in and they replaced the 12 volt battery, and then did the 4.0 upgrade. However, it appears it's somehow directly related to when I get a software upgrade notice (rather than the battery being bad). I'm not sure how to re-set the 12 volt battery to push the upgrade through, so I guess I will be calling my Tesla Service Center tomorow to see what they suggust.

All I want for Christmas is 4.0 (and 4.1) but nothing so far. When will they come?

rwang | 24. Dezember 2012

Updated. No big issues. Good news, sleep mode. Other than that, seems to work fine.

Robert22 | 24. Dezember 2012

I was curious to see what would happen if I scheduled the 4.1 update to occur a few minutes after powering off the car from the control screen (big button). Right on time the screen fired up, displayed the low windshield wash notice, and then did nothing. Within ten minutes, probably much less, I received the alert saying the update had succeeded. I've been impressed with how well the 3G dependent systems work in my underground parking garage with only one bar of service. I realize the software likely downloads while I'm driving, but everything else (radios, maps) works great from the garage.

Same here No Update and my S VIN number ends with 221...

Mark Z | 26. Dezember 2012

Talked to the local Tesla service center today and their comment was that the a certain version may or may not appear in an individual Model S. The next version to be downloaded to the car could be version 4, 5 or 6. There is no way to force an update and they have no clue on when or if I will be receiving an update.

Considering all the version and build numbers appearing on the forum, IMHO I assume that Tesla is attempting to perfect the build version before releasing it to all vehicles. The service center comment to my thoughts on that subject was that it is all conjecture.

Mark Z | 02. Januar 2013

The service center was proven wrong after calling the main Tesla number and speaking to someone helpful at Tesla Motors. He made a request to the proper department to push version 4.1 to my Model S. The entire download and upgrade was finished in about two hours while parked in the garage and not plugged in.

What a new year treat to enjoy the major improvements to the Signature model compared with the original software!

The actual 'push' takes very little time. It's the installation process that follows download which takes the 2 hrs!
