@Runar, what is the date?

Runar | 02. Januar 2013

The order was placed 31.december, and number was reported today.

GeirT | 02. Januar 2013

I was #2145 (Norway) on 27th December. If consecutive numbers that means close to 1000 the last few days of the year. Could that really be the case?

The SSL and S designation lists both begin at 1 and count up. There will be a SSL 4 and a S 4 and they will be separated in delivery sequence by about 250 cars or so. GeirT; was wondering about your math skills there.;-)

Guess most of these are Norwegian still. Will be fun to see the first cars on European roads soon. (especially since I am #82 after the Sig's)

Dont think that is so unusual, 20-30 or so a day, think the european numbers have been close to this the past couple of weeks?

Will be interesting to see the next few weeks though.

As of December 31, 2012 (subject to update), projected cumulative reservations and deliveries by end Dec. 2012, and Dec. 2013, using uncorrected count, and taking Apr. 27/09 as start date:

December 31 2012 (24,128*1,376)/1,376 = 24,128
December 31 2013 (24,128*1,741)/1,376 = 30,528

Extrapolation from July 1, 2012 base:
December 31 2012 13,260 + (24,128 - 13,260)*184/184 = 24,128
December 31 2013 13,260 + (24,128 - 13,260)*549/184 = 45,687
:) ↑
.
Extrapolation from October 31, 2012 base:
December 31, 2012 18,337 + (24,128 - 18,337)*61/61 = 24,128
December 31, 2013 18,337 + (24,128 - 18,337)*426/61 = 58,786

Wouldn't the andreas res be better counted as a 12-27 number? The "confirmation" just sounds like an administrative afterthought, nothing to do with sales timing.

Brian H | 06. Januar 2013

No US sales reported yet ... 100 European reservations in 1st 4 days of the year.

ghillair | 06. Januar 2013

Brian: The post from runar says reported on jan 4 but reservation made 27 Dec.
Presumably there are even higher European #s made after the 27th in 2012. We have not seen any 2013 reservations.

jkirkebo | 06. Januar 2013

ghillar: We have always used the dates when reservations are confirmed in this thread, not when they are made. Payment can take a while, several Norwegians have waited a couple of weeks before getting their reservation number. So Brians math is correct.

And you don't get the reservation number before the reservation is confirmed anyway.

Brian H | 06. Januar 2013

Actually, I agree the original date "decision" should be used. But michiganmodels does the basic tabulation, and I guess waiting for the last few days of Dec. would be a problem. He already waited 4 days for the US.

So I just track what he posts and calculate the change. I'm waiting for some US numbers before getting started on 2013.

Brian H | 06. Januar 2013

typo: the original "decision" date

michiganmodels | 07. Januar 2013

Bumping to the top.

GoTeslaChicago | 07. Januar 2013

Here's my take. All those in the know i.e., those that follow these forums, reserved before January 1st to beat the price increase. Those not so much in the know are still making reservations, but since they don't know about the forums, we don't hear from them.

However, I'm willing to make a guess that the US reservations are running about 30 a day, and will be back up to 100 a day by the beginning of February.

cprenzl | 07. Januar 2013

I would think that is a little on the more optimistic side, I would expect about 10-20 a day till febuary then, 40-60 a day for a couple weeks then pick up to 80-90, I think Tesla needs to pick up production to at least 80 a day,( 29000) a year.

kenliles | 08. Januar 2013

Rebump

jk2014 | 08. Januar 2013

Does anyone know if the reservation system will go away soon? Since production rates will reduce wait time to less than a year, the "time to build your model s" will pop up as soon as you make the reservation. Then it becomes a non refundable deposit. I'm hearing tesla is going to ask all reservation holders to build their cars by the end of January, so we might see a change in res policy. Any thoughts?

jackhub | 08. Januar 2013

When they get up to speed with production, Elon said he wants to maintain an average of three months between order and delivery. I suppose that is to smooth out production at a constant rate.

jk2014 | 08. Januar 2013

How long do you think it will from making the reservation to having lock in options? Would a customer have to lock in right away in order to make Elons turn around rate? If immediate lock in, would this thread be retitled "model s deposit tally?"

kenliles | 09. Januar 2013

looks like 17,849 by best account; But the 17,918 number is of jan 2 so we really need a more recent reading to get a sense. Much lower rate no doubt; probably take a month or so to start climbing again after the price increase catching a lot of the pre-jan 1

gregv64 | 10. Januar 2013

By my very rough calculation during what are likely to be the 10 slowest reservation days of the year they still hit a worldwide reservation rate of at least 15K/year (it's hard to know exactly where reservations stood at the end of the 31st).

MB3 | 10. Januar 2013

Take a look here.
Reservation rates are still averaging over 100/day. That is 36k per year.

Fredhmartin | 10. Januar 2013

Wow. 17918 on Jan 2nd in US and now 18175 as of today. That's ~28/day over those nine days. That's a 10k annual run rate for what will definitely be the lowest rate of the whole year (given the hangover from the price increase as of the new year). Very impressive.

gregv64 | 10. Januar 2013

@MB3: That includes the last two pre-price increase days, which had the highest reservation rates of the year, so not really indicative of the post increase reservation rate.

MB3 | 10. Januar 2013

Well, you might be right, but it is a moving average since the MT COTY. I don't see any down trend. I guess I've made a prediction. We'll see how it goes....

As of January 10, 2013, projected cumulative reservations and deliveries by end Dec. 2013, using uncorrected count, and taking Apr. 27/09 as start date:

24,619*1,741/1,386 = 30,925
:) ↑
.
Extrapolation from July 1, 2012 base:
13,260 + (24,619 - 13,260)*549/194 = 44,131
:( ↓
.
Extrapolation from October 31, 2012 base:
18,337 + (24,619 - 18,337)*426/71 = 56,029
:( ↓

_________

Daily Reservation rates implied in the three Dec. 31 projections above:

Since Apr. '09: 17.8 :) ↑
.
Since June '12: 56.2 :( ↓
.
Since Oct. '12: 88.4 :( ↓

Taking the corrected number and guesstimated deliveries into account, there were over 16K unfilled reservations at year end.

The global rate in 2013 so far is about 49.

49/week is not bad considering the price increase.
