Auto pilot vs. Full self drive

On my New X, I am still considering FSD (Full Self Drive) vs AP (Auto Pilot). The other day while on AP I was approaching a tire retread in the middle of the road that the car didn’t recognize, I had to steer around it. I’m wondering on FSD, if it would’ve picked that up? Does anyone know? thanks

It is not known yet. Ideally yes, FSD should detect obstructions and either stop or drive around it depending on what's safe to do. Just in case, you are not aware, FSD is a group of features, most of which are not available yet. It does include Smart summon today. It does not include any kind of avoidance yet. You are responsible for ensuring safe travel while on AP/FSD and taking over if needed. Think of it more as a driver assistance system.
