5 seater delivered today

5 seater delivered today

Got my X60D today. In general good (not great) experience. Got to my appointment on time to see the beautiful X. In general fit and finish just ok. The service center was overwhelmed with the amount of appointments. The car was not properly cleaned including wheels and tires that were "muddy". Glue from the protection film was visible in a couple of spots. Windows had greasy marks in several places. Dust over dash, etc. The most annoying thing was that the car was missing the cargo tray behind the second row of seats. One of the Pegeon Wing Doors makes a grinding noise when flexing which they couldn't fix today as they were busy. Drive was great...will see how quickly they solve the minor issues. Is clear to me that they need to expand the amount of SCs quickly and pre delivery inspections should be on par with other luxury brands. For now like Vperl would say...be happy.

poloX | 20. Dezember 2016

Congrats!

jRoGville | 20. Dezember 2016

jrodrig18, does your 5-seater have a vertical panel separating the cargo area from the back of the 2nd row seat and the floor beyond, so that something wouldn't be able to roll from the cargo area unto the 2nd row floor? And coincidentally that would also hide the somewhat unfinished looking back of the 2nd row seats when folded? You would only see this if you remove the floor panel from the higher position where it is level with the folded seat bak.

Osu18 | 20. Dezember 2016

jRoGville, that's the panel missing at delivery. It seems that once present it would level the floor and prevent stuff from going under the second row from the trunk.

poloX | 20. Dezember 2016

No, not what was asked. Even if you have that tray, if you put stuff below the tray, small stuff can roll under the bench to the cabin

smithj29 | 20. Dezember 2016

Congrats! How long is the wait time between when your 5-seater arrives at SC and getting the parts to fix the side lever? It looks like they are ordering the parts from factory only when the car has arrived at SC.... With Tesla knowing there is a lever issue with every 5-seater leaving Freemont, I wonder why they just didn't proactively ship the parts to each SC so it's ready to install the day the car arrives on truck?!?

vperl | 20. Dezember 2016

" , I wonder why they just didn't proactively ship the parts to each SC so it's ready to install the day the car arrives on truck?!? "

Pardon me for laughing......

Tesla, is not known for supplying the Service Centers with parts .

Tesla is a mystery of customer communication and Service.

Good fortune

O:-)

lilbean | 20. Dezember 2016

That would have been a good idea. 0:o)

vperl | 20. Dezember 2016

Great idea, wonder why Tesla refuses this simple task .

Answer,

Tesla cares not

jRoGville | 21. Dezember 2016

vperlm you're becoming too cynical.

PedanticOne | 21. Dezember 2016

Becoming?

vperl | 21. Dezember 2016

If one has not seen that Tesla , by the way they, Tesla, has done things, I suggest look back to the words Tesla has released to the public.

Some were right on, but many lacked full disclosure to the man year or so.

Dates of most things Telsa promised were off by weeks, months an a a year or more.

No explanation to owners why parts to their car take there's to eight weeks to arrive at service centers.

Lots of owners work, but these Service Centers I know about are closed on Saturday.

The M3 will be interesting when the resources are not available to do an acceptable job.

Service Centers today have wait lists for 3-5 weeks if the parts arrive.

Delivery, Quality control is spotty. Some folks have newly arrived MX, sitting for three weeks for QC, and parts...

Plus, no contact from Tesla regarding why the three to five week delay is happening, jus a brief text or email saying how busy they are, and your MX is " Coming Soon"

So yes you may be correct..

Ambivalence

Be Happy

O:-)

Teslapalooza | 21. Dezember 2016

I wonder if Tesla is shunting those of us who are vocal about Tesla, into the bleachers, and placing others ahead of us in the queue :-) Just saying ....

I remain happy regardless :-)

vperl | 21. Dezember 2016

I doubt it.

Vperl, my Service Center in Vienna, Va, is open Saturdays for Service and the show room is open 7! days a week. Sorry to hear yours takes Saturday (and Sunday?) off.

Me also.

They are moving to a new large SC next year. Hope they keep the old one open for the M3 flood, but Tesla is not that forward thinking.

betty_yee | 25. Dezember 2016

Got my 5 seater on 12/23. The delivery centre in Vancouver, BC Canada is currently delivering 10 cars per day. My husband did the model x checklist and everything was ok. We even had the cargo cover behind second row seats. Car was not cleaned but that was ok since it was snowing. The next day my husband washed, clay bar, waxed, tire shine, and put rainx window treatment on car. So our car looks better than showroom. Driving on highway 1 there was no wind noise car is supper quiet with the 20" tires. I had a good experience but I am not a picky person.

lilbean | 25. Dezember 2016

Congrats! Yay!

jRoGville | 25. Dezember 2016

betty_yee, could you post some photos of your cargo area WITHOUT that cover behind the 2nd row seats? I'm interested in seeing how the separation looks between the cargo area and the 2nd row seats.

In case you need it, here's a link with instructions for posting photos. Don't know why it should be so involved in this forum:

https://forums.tesla.com/forum/forums/how-post-pictures

cica3838 | 25. Dezember 2016

I'm in Vancouver too, and my delivery specialist is so busy she doesn't even have time to answer my questions. What is clay bar? And where do you find the model x checklist?

lilbean | 25. Dezember 2016

Clay bar is an auto detailing clay that removes impurities, dirt, industrial fallout, etc from your paint.

I had mine clayed by my awesome detail guy Mitch 818-339-4909 (Los Angeles)
I, personally, would never do it myself.

d.cherin | 25. Dezember 2016

I also took delivery 12/23/16
90D Deep Blue Metallic, 5 Seat, 20" Silver, Black Leather Seats, Black Headline,r Glossy Obeche, EAP, FSDC, PUP

d.cherin | 25. Dezember 2016

Thanks @lilbean "Happy Holidays"!
My car was delivered with no AP software, waiting for new update

lilbean | 25. Dezember 2016

:-) It will be "soon". In the meantime, enjoy driving your awesome new ride! Woohoo!

poloX | 26. Dezember 2016

With all of the holiday activities, I am totally forgot about my delivery day coming. Waking up today thinking it's only Sunday until I see my meeting alarm went off and oh, it's Monday. My MX appointment is in 3+ hours. How wonderful. :o)

Saxman | 26. Dezember 2016

@PoloX

Take heed with all of the above and enjoy the moment.

I did, and it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Congrats and wishing you a wonderful experience.

PedanticOne | 26. Dezember 2016

I'm not sure the holidays would have made me forget. :-) Have fun!

Teslapalooza | 26. Dezember 2016

Got mine last Friday (Christmas eve) !!! Been too busy driving around and enjoying my new toy in the last couple days. To say it is a pleasure would be an understatement :-)

A couple of things to share:
1. They just had a bunch of 2-week old on the job delivery agents at the Fremont factory for handing over cars to new owners. For the most part the experience was great. The delivery agent was super nice and courteous, but could use some more training. For instance, my agent was drawing a blank when I pointed out that the trunk floor panel was missing. She had to go call some other agent from a back room who said it will be delivered later after a week or so. I was hoping Tesla would proactively tell me what is missing from the car rather that me pointing out things that I notice. Another example was, the 14-50 plug's pin was bent inwards quite a bit and the delivery agent tried to tell me that is how it is. Go figure. I insisted that she replace it, and she did.

2. My car is missing the 'Auto Headlights' option. That button is simply absent from the Controls menu. I have sent an email this morning asking about it. As of now I have to remember to turn ON the headlights manually for night driving - just like I used to do on my early 90s ICE cars.

PedanticOne | 26. Dezember 2016

@ramseshan2001 Glad you're enjoying it!

burdogg | 26. Dezember 2016

ramseshan - what version are you on? I got mine on Thursday and the version is 2.48.204 and it has auto on headlights, but version before that did not have it. So if your software is before that version, you won't have auto headlights until you get a software update :)

Congrats PoloX - enjoy today :)

jRoGville | 26. Dezember 2016

ramseshan2001, if you're missing the front floor panel, are you also missing the partition that separates the cargo area from the underside of the 2nd row bench seat, and that also supports the forward edge of that missing floor panel? Another owner had their X delivered on Dec 22 and it had both the forward floor panel and the divider partition installed. I had hoped that all the 5-seaters coming out to the factory after that date would now be complete.

Teslapalooza | 26. Dezember 2016

@burdogg: My s/w version 2.48.35. So it looks like quite old compared to yours. Tesla support sent to following reply to my email:
"For vehicles with Autopilot 2.0 hardware, the automatic headlight option is currently disabled until the hardware package has completed official government testing and validation. This feature will be enabled in a firmware update in the near future. Until this update, please operate the headlights manually"

@jRoGville: Thanks for letting me know what to expect in terms of floor panel and divider partition. I did not know about the divider partition. I will now know to ask for it from Tesla service guys. I will probably givem a week before I ask them again about it. It is interesting that you say another car delivered on the same day had all those parts in place already? Where was that delivery done, was it at an SC? Mine was at the factory in Fremont.

burdogg | 26. Dezember 2016

ramseshan - and mine is old now too - they have a new update that allows you to pair your fob with driver profile (and gave the neat Christmas Easter Egg that is all over the internet, that I still don't have :(
Hopefully you get some update love soon. My update at least turns headlights on and off (just not auto high beam/low beam)

poloX | 26. Dezember 2016

Just got home. Much better than I had expected but maybe I was not expected too much. But in general, I was OK with everything. Really, if you nitpick, tons of little things for you to pick. But here are some notes to share.
1. If you thinking of Tan leather, see it in person first. It does not look as luxury as in the picture. Looks kind of old and not "fresh". Also the middle seat on second row, it pops up, more than just a wrinkle.
2. On the drive home, initially, it was nice and quiet. Until I opened the windows and recluse, then I heard annoying wind noise. Opened/closed windows many times after that could not fix the problem. Used my sound meter to measure the noise before and after, it was a good ~4dB higher than before I had the problem. In general, it was ~65 average dB before and about 68-69Db after.
3. The biggest complain is the lever on the bench seat. Horrible. I accepted the cheap look of it. I have seen the picture before. But when you actually operate it, it feel much cheaper than a Honda Civic or a Toyota Yaris, oh, or the old Geo with 3 cylinder thing. So cheap. I had a feeling if I pull a bit harder, that thing would come off, break... Not kidding. But I had to pull harder for it to work. On the driver side, the lever is even loose, I mean for a Tesla to design this lever...just sad. And it does recline but not as what my DS over exaggerated when he told me over the phone. Just a bit. Yes, maybe incline a lot more than what the 6 or 7 seat config can??? Don't know but not much at all.
4- Missing 1 piece of floor tray just as we all already knew.
5. What surprised me is that it comes with the sun shade for the windshield. I didn't know that. They also gave me an umbrella, a mug, a pen, a pin as goodies. Very nice.
6- Unfortunately, I have continental tires.
7. My side mirrors are not as bad as the one I test drove. For my side mirror setting, I turn them way outward so I can see the cars on the lane next to me, not to view my own car's body as many do. But the X I test drove, could not turn that far out. My does just enough. Pass side is perfect. Driver side is a bit shy of what I wanted but it was OK. I can do all measurement of the trunk for you later.

lilbean | 26. Dezember 2016

Congrats! My driver's side mirror is the same. The sc said nothing could be done about that. I feel the same way about the tan. Here is a window recalibration technique thanks to ohmman on TMC. Doesn't always work though.
Front Door Windows Calibration
With the door closed, roll the window all the way down with a "soft click" (not the full down click). Hold the window down for at least 5 seconds after it is fully closed.
Roll the window back up with a soft click (not full up) and hold the window all the way up for at least 5 seconds.

Saxman | 26. Dezember 2016

When I took delivery on 12/22 of my 5 seater both floor covers were included and the vertical barrier was installed.
I did notice that center seat back was a little puckered and not as taut as either end. It is not horrible but a little sloppy.

sp_tesla | 26. Dezember 2016

poloX | December 26, 2016

Unfortunately you are not as lucky as @carlk with the best X by far, received & stayed perfect, not a single annoying or sub-par publicly announced issue.

jRoGville | 26. Dezember 2016

ramseshan2001, the other X that was delivered with all the panels went to an SC in Oregon. Funny because it was on the same day as Saxman's on 12/22.

Saxman, since you have all the pieces, when you set up the cargo area floor at the lower level, in other taking out the forward floor panel and setting the back floor panel to the lower position, do you end up with a perfectly flat floor? I was looking at some photos of the cargo area in the TMC forum and it looked like the rear floor panel ended up being just a bit higher than the rest of the floor. It may have been an optical illusion, but it looked that way to me.

Looking at the storage niche behind the rear axel without the rear floor panel covering it up, it looks like there are indentations around the top perimeter to receive a panel over it that will make that area flush, or level, with the rest of the lower floor. But it looks like the rear floor panel would be too large to fit that indentation. Can you shed some light on how that cargo floor looks when you set it up to use the lower floor level?

poloX | 26. Dezember 2016

Took it out for a drive again, didn't notice the window noise anymore. hmmm... Thank you though lilbean for the reset instruction.

One thing I found out by accident was the dom light. There are are 5 LEDs. You can actually touch them to turn them each on/off individually. That was kind of really cool. :o)

Strange thing is that the 2 front doors sometimes, I can auto close both, sometimes, only auto close the driver door??? Any explanation for this behavior? Note that I did't test it. Too many people were playing with it and I didn't focus on what I was doing either. Need to test in a more controlled manner :o)

You're welcome! Auto close using the brake only closes the driver door. It used to close both but too many people complained and Tesla removed the capability to auto close the passenger door with the brake. I like the feature. Oh well. Walk away auto close only works for my driver door.

lilbean | 26. Dezember 2016

I think the windows are a little buggy. Sometimes I get wind nose and it just goes away in its own. That's why I don't like rolling them down.

poloX | 26. Dezember 2016

I was in the middle of charging. Opened the tailgate and it stopped charging??? Made some clicking noise. I had to touch the charger and the green light started to flash again. But in side the car, the display is now all black. Does not show voltage, current, mile, remaining time...etc. Is this normal?

lilbean | 26. Dezember 2016

It's normal for the display to be black when charging. It doesn't remain on when parked and charging. If you get in the driver seat, it turns on.

poloX | 26. Dezember 2016

OK, thanks lilbean. What about opening the tailgate? Why did that stop the charging? The display said there was an error. Restarted it and it is working now. Thanks
