European Model 3 DC charging options

European Model 3 DC charging options

Rumours about a Model 3 version that will be able to use additional DC charging options other than Tesla's supercharger, have recently been heated up by an article of DC charging station manufacturer ABB.
They seem to imply that the Model 3 will have a Combo2/CCS DC charging option in its European variant...

This is the article:

... and the Combined Charging Solution (CCS), which is the fast charging standard of choice for Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, Ford, Fiat Chrysler, General Motors, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo and now the new Model 3 Tesla, ...

May be a fake, a misunderstanding, or just a plain lie. But may also have some truth with it...

Would be nice if US Model 3s also had a CCS port so that we could use the new VW charging stations.

Sounds like great news for the EU Model 3, ABB ought to know. Not only in regard to public charging stations, I'm looking forward to DC home charging from solar battery storage systems. Less energy loss from transformation to get the power from the roof to the car battery.

Since the Mennekes Type 2 plug is already used on the Model S and Model X in Europe, and that same connector is part of the European CCS standard, it would not be surprising if European releases of Model 3 included the extra two pins for CCS there behind the extra large charger flap the car sports.

Yeah, I would not be surprised at all to see that on the European Model 3, since they already have the top half of it.
