I am placing my order on the 7th, just wanted to get a sense of how everyone feels about their purchase now that they have had significant time to drive it, and if you would purchase again. Without search function difficult to know if this has been asked. Thanks for humoring me.

Eletrek | 05. Juli 2013

Would not hesitate to buy again. 10k - vin#696.

Brad-Tesla | 05. Juli 2013

Agree. Met and exceeded all expectations. Would definitely buy again. Performance 85, white with black leather.

cfOH | 05. Juli 2013

You can search these forums using www.volkerize.com

Mireille and Conan | 05. Juli 2013

Would absolutely buy again - 14k / 6 months
Would love to get a 2nd (or possibly an X) when it's time to replace our other vehicle.

J.T. | 05. Juli 2013

Could not believe the hype even after my test drive and after I placed my order. There are some very serious car people on this forum who own or did own some of the most advanced automobiles in history and they talk about this car like they had never driven before.

I knew the car was cool. I knew it was fast. I knew it was relatively rare on the east coast. What I didn't know is that pulling out of my driveway could be so much fun every single time.

Went to a bbq at my cousin's house last night and I gave rides to 12 people. Amazing was the word of the night. As the guests left they thanked the host and hostess of the party and then they came over and thanked me for allowing them the chance to ride in or drive the car.

Is it worth it? Can't answer that for you. My family is thrilled that I'm as happy about my purchase as I am.

Yes, I'd do it again.

jchangyy | 05. Juli 2013

5,000 miles and 5 months. Love the car. no real problems.

However, after reading "millionaire next door" this week, having regrets about paying $95k for a car. I should have brought a 3 year old, $20,000 vehicle. According to the book, I'm living above my means.

It's not for everyone, especially if you have not been saving enough.

I know...I'm a Debbie downer.

Sorry.

But I do love the car.

eAdopter | 05. Juli 2013

I'm on the fence. Started out very happy on 6/3 but ...

1. Seat bracket recall two weeks ago (handled well by Tesla)
2. HV battery failure and replacement (flatbed tow) *
3. Warranty price increased from $2500 to $4000 before offered chance to buy it

*This one has me most worried. The car was stuck in Park and required a flatbed tow. The car was literally dragged with rear wheels locked from my driveway. That's fine and TM handled it well. However, what happens if/when the car fails in my underground parking garage at work? How will TM remove/repair the car where no 3G or wifi is available, and ceiling highs prohibit a flatbed tow? Does anyone know?

adstein | 05. Juli 2013

6.5 months, 5k miles, love it. Planning on my next tesla when they release a new roadster.

JOHN HOLLINGSWORTH | 05. Juli 2013

3000+ miles in 6 months and my only regret is not opting for the Performance package. The car is incredible would definetly buy it again. Try to figure out how to afford an X for my wife.

KevinR.co.us | 05. Juli 2013

Got mine 12/28. P85 with about 4000 miles. Love it. No regrets. No service problems. I got MORE than I paid for. Never going back to an ICE. When can I put my deposit on a reservation for the Gen III for my daughter?

mumanoff | 05. Juli 2013

Thank you one and all. eAdopter, your experience sounds like a nightmare, glad to hear that Tesla came to the rescue. Did they have any advice in that situation?

SonOfSofaman | 05. Juli 2013

5000 miles since May 8

My commute is ~80 miles round trip; most of the rest of those miles were "just because" miles -- just because driving the Model S is fun.

I would definitely purchase again. I can say almost nothing bad about the Model S.

I did have one "uh-oh" moment. One night when I returned to the car the door handles would not pop open and I could not get back into the car. After the fob on the windshield trick failed I was worried I was stranded. Then I remembered I could open the car using the smart phone app. It worked like a charm, except the car still didn't recognize the fob so the car wouldn't "start". I eventually resolved the issue by chance: apparently clicking the "roof" of the fob was enough to convince the car that the fob was present and active. It hasn't happened since.

brandtlings | 05. Juli 2013

Liked the first one so much, bought another. 4 months and 3000 mi on the first. 2 days and a 100 mi on the second. One's a P and the other a P+. Do it again? Ummmm, did it...

elguapo | 05. Juli 2013

Love it. Had it for 2 months, 1,700 miles (wish I could drive more!). Wife is begging for an X.

edfinn | 05. Juli 2013

I have had my MS 85 (12096) for a couple of weeks, and I am loving it. 600 miles.
I hesitated after putting in a reservation last fall as my work situation changed and I drive less now than when I reserved. I am very happy with the purchase and would definitely do it again.
I was in the recall, and was impressed with how quickly and efficiently it was handled. I watched and chatted with the mechanic as he did the work (no other car shop lets you do that) and was impressed by the entire process.
Driving is fun again.

wheatcraft | 05. Juli 2013

6700 miles, love it !!! Not only would I buy it again, I just wouldn't buy anything else.

KOL2000 | 05. Juli 2013

2 months, 2000 miles. In heaven, sold 7 so far to friends. Would not trade my Tesla for a ferrari unless I could sell the Ferrari and buy 2 Teslas!!!

Flaninacupboard | 05. Juli 2013

@eAdopter,
Use a regular jack to put the rear wheels on skateboards and tow to the street, then act as normal.

RonaldA | 05. Juli 2013

Hi 3600 miles and very happy. Have a roadster and looking to get an X. tesla is a great car and company!

SonOfSofaman I had a similar situation and found if you lock manually with th fob (click the roof) you need to double click the roof to unlock, proximaty unlock doesn't kick in. This also happens if you lock via the phone app. The phone always seems to unlock the car though. I assume you have the tech package, so just let the car lock itself.

Ron

lolachampcar | 05. Juli 2013

Like brandtlings, 5500 miles on MS #1 with #2 on the way (P85+).

Kleist | 05. Juli 2013

Beyond satisfaction - worth every penny. The universre of ICE choices has vanished.

ThomasK | 05. Juli 2013

I've had the car since January. S60. Amazing car. I love this car.

David70 | 05. Juli 2013

Perfectly satisfied. I still have a learning curve to figure out all the features. I can't afford (or need) another car, but I wouldn't hesitate on buying a second Model S (or X) if I could afford it.

SonOfSofaman | 05. Juli 2013

Thanks for the tip @RonaldA. When that happened, I may have locked with the fob instead of letting it lock itself. I shall experiment.

blisSfullee | 05. Juli 2013

Absolutely would buy again. Nothing compares for the combination of performance, comfort and easily accessible accessories.

TikiMan | 05. Juli 2013

Let me put it this way...
After owning an iPhone or Droid, would you go back to a flip-phone?
Would you go back to a analogue TV set? Would you go back to vinyl records or analogue tape?

After 14k miles and ten month, I don't EVER see myself going back to an ICE vehicle EVER again. Yes, it's that much better!

xenogeek | 05. Juli 2013

The car is awesome and still exceeding my expectations after 6 months and 8k miles.

nickjhowe | 05. Juli 2013

@eAdopter - the price increase has been reversed (temporarily) - check out the Tesla Bulletin Board on this forum.

To answer the original question - 3000 miles and six months in and I wouldn't change a thing. I love it.

lolachampcar | 05. Juli 2013

what car on the planet has ever had this kind of response?

ORWA | 05. Juli 2013

Do you remember the feeling when you first got your drivers license and drove a car by yourself? The freedom and excitement of your world changing forever? That is the feeling you get every day when you drive your Model S. The quantum leap is akin to upgrading from a BMX bike to a car as your primary mode of transportation. You can't imagine going back to the bike...

ppape | 05. Juli 2013

Took delivery on 5/10/13. Primary car for my husband. Since then I have been addicted to learning more.. Want an X soo badly. I may need to settle for Gen 3, but we'll see???

No regrets and would buy again!

It starts with an impressive car. Then you learn the history of the company. Their purpose, what they've overcome to survive and thrive, it just makes it a no-brianer! I will never buy an ICE again. This company really is something special.

Jackie

Brian H | 05. Juli 2013

Jackie;
We Brians resemble your "no-brianer" comment. It's brainless! >:(

DJay | 05. Juli 2013

I have not had a single moment of buyers remorse after 7,000 miles which has included two 1,000 mile trips in California. The Supercharges are great and I can't wait to head across the country as soon as next year. I have no interest in returning to an ICE with gas station stops, oil changes, shifting transmissions, and smelly hot drippy engines in my garage that click as they cool down. You will not regret it either.

Chuck Lusin | 05. Juli 2013

Both of our 40s are great and working perfectly. We are at close to 5000 miles on both cars in 7 weeks. My wife goes everywhere, in her white 40.

You will love it once you get it!

Brian H | 05. Juli 2013

It's bye-bye to putt-putts.

lvaneveld | 05. Juli 2013

I have #3696 picked up at the factory Jan 27. 2013. I might change a few things given the chance and knowing what has happened since. I have a 60 and love it.

I will never buy another fossil fuel burner again! They just feel so archaic and crude in comparison.

Planning to replace our minivan with a Model X in a few years. Tapped out right now unless I sell my TSLA stock which I do not want to do. I expect to see it over 250 in a few years.

jat | 05. Juli 2013

The best purchase I have ever made, even though it was basically double what I had ever spent on a car before.

kidjay | 05. Juli 2013

I had 1600 miles on it in the first 4 days!!! Fremont to San Diego | Diego to Las Vegas and back | Diego to Santa Monica and back | Diego to Palm Springs and back Plus some around town driving! I can't get out of the car

defmonk | 05. Juli 2013

VIN 9826, delivered May 5, 2013. Driven just over 3,000 miles. It is a wonderful, refreshing drive. If you have vision, it will redefine how you think about transportation and you'll be astounded by this technical achievement daily.. If you lack vision and a soul, you will simply want more cup holders and a nifty console.

Xerogas | 05. Juli 2013

+1 @jat
+1 everyone else, too

It was 2.5 times more than I've ever spent on a car, and I have no regrets. I can't go back to ICE. I've never driven cross-country before, and now I can't wait to plan a trip.

We bought the 40kW model, and within five minutes riding in the car, my wife asked if we could upgrade so we could use the superchargers. Neither of us is a "car person", but we are definitely "Tesla persons" now!

Best purchasing experience, and best service ever.

rdalcanto | 05. Juli 2013

When I bought my 2012 911S, I felt guilty every single day, about how much that thing cost, how it wasn't practical, etc.. The MS is the same price, and I have not felt one ounce of guilt. The MS is faster, more practical, and just unbelievable fun to drive. Going to spend twice as much on my Wife's next SUV as we planned before we ever heard of Tesla, and get a Model X ASAP!

July10Models | 05. Juli 2013

8K miles almost six months in the morning commute has become the most enjoyable part of my day. The evening commute could be as much as an hour longer but for some reason it is not accompanied by frustration in the super quiet Model S. I spend the time returning phone calls or listening to music and if traffic is really at a stand still, I read the news on the display. I am usually in no hurry to get out of the car but pass everyone else on the road just for the heck of it.

jjs | 05. Juli 2013

My delivery experience was abysmal. The worst I have had buying a car due to an almost complete lack of pro-active communication on Tesla's part.

The car was delivered without the front license plate holder attached.

The car was delivered without the truck well cover.

I have had to have the windshield replaced due to a manuf. defect.

I have had a blow out hitting a pot hole (my fault) and had a VERY difficult time getting a replacement tire. (I have 21" Continentals.)

I live 500 miles away from the nearest service center.

I would buy again in a heartbeat. As you can see from above it has not been perfect. Tesla is a company with growing pains. However the vast majority of my dealings with them have been superb. They stand behind their product as very few companies do. It appears to me they are building a world class company and are passionate about doing so. I am proud to be a Tesla owner. I took delivery of VIN ...P03082 1/6/2013 and currently have 8,000 miles on the car. All my wife has to do is to say the word and I will reserve and X for her. I would like her to drive, what I believe, is not only the best car in the world but perhaps more importantly, the safest.

stsanford | 05. Juli 2013

Got mine 2 weeks ago. almost 900 miles so far.
I've owned Porsches and Jaguars exclusively for the past decade, so I was used to a high level of performance and reliability (X-Type Jaguar was very reliable contrary to earlier models)...
Model S has been at least up to par. I did have the fan noise from behind the LCD screen, and the way it was handled is something I think will put the OP at ease:

I e-mailed last Sunday into Ownership. Got a response 2 hours later letting me know that they would reach out to my local service center to get additional info. It's not a big issue, I reminded them, just when I was demoing the car, there was the fan so you still hear something when the car could be absolutely silent.

Got a call on Monday from the service manger saying that a Tech would be on the Island on Tuesday or Wednesday...

Tuesday I got a call saying that the tech (whose name I was given) would contact me at some point on Wednesday to work out where I was at and would meet me there to perform the repair.

Wednesday I got a call at 12:30. He was 45 minutes away and would be driving to me next. I gave him the address and 45 minutes later, my doorbell rang.

He proceeded to pop the access panel off and remove a yellow fuse. Left the car off for 5 minutes and talked to me, asking if there was anything else up. After that, he replaced the fuse. I said "I could have done that!, Why didn't someone just walk me through this routine?"

He answered that they didn't want owners going through the fuses, and that it was his pleasure to do. Tesla intends to make the experience premium and so far, has delivered a truly premium, top-notch experience at every step:

1. Ordering
2. Notification of progress
3. Financing (super-easy)
4. Delivery
5. Post-delivery support
6. Issue Correction

I am very impressed and I don't impress easily. Plus, you feel like a rockstar when people come up and ask questions and get generally excited about the car!

KendallPB | 05. Juli 2013

Luvs it. No regrets. Would do it again, and again, and again!

lolachampcar | 06. Juli 2013

jjs,
Can I repost your note? I think it completely sums up Tesla.

Bill

ddruz | 06. Juli 2013

60 kWh - Two months and a little over 3,000 miles. Unquestionably would buy again but without leather seats or air suspension--just don't need 'em and would rather save the money. Might even pass on the sound studio, metallic paint or tech. But never on the great pano roof.

Turns out the basic car is just awesome by itself!

My only problems have been headlights too high (easily adjusted by SC), creaking passenger's A pillar (fixed 90% by SC) and occasional intermittent creaks here and there.

The intermittent creaks are only noticeable because car is so deadly quiet but I'm surprised they are present because my Leaf was rock solid over all bumps and irregular roads and I expected Model S to be the same.

Still, I'd buy again in an instant.

JAG9000 | 06. Juli 2013

I am not able to give a long term review -- I had my blue and tan 85 delivered Wednesday evening -- but I did order it without a test drive, after about three weeks of research and careful consideration for my wife. I am on cloud nine. It drives like -- maybe other model S owners will understand what I mean when I say this -- It drives like butter. Thick, cool, smooth. It drives like velvet. Velvet butter.

But my wife and I want to be a part of the new movement, and catch this wave and even help fund it. It's that big, and that important for all of us.

By the way, everyone likes the test rides I have given -- I am giving a ride to anyone who will let me! One person felt a bit car sick sitting in the back while watching the rear view camera, so you might want to turn it off for passengers. But two people who were following Tesla and had been dreaming of getting one -- as they stepped out of the car, they said matter-of-factly, "Well, I'm getting one."

lolachampcar | 06. Juli 2013

exposure will grow exponentially if we all do our (test drive / demo drive) part.

TomasT | 06. Juli 2013

I have had my 40kw MS for 4 weeks/1,000 miles. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. Extremely fun too drive, great conversation starter, everyone loves it, my wife wants to drive it all the time, it's just a very well made product. Even the 40kwh battery has been more than enough for me. (Too bad they don't make it anymore, I believe it would be a great fit for people that live in the city, who drive around 50 miles per day.)

I would certainly recommend the model S to my friends and family without hesitation. Charging at home is such a thrill, too. No more smelly gas stations under the South Florida sun.

I'm still a bit worried something will stop working, being Tesla's first car and all, but so far, so great.

If you have a specific worry in mind (I had tons of worries when I ordered mine, like would the interior finish look cheap, would it feel like a toy, would it randomly burst into flames, etc) post it so we can ease your worries (or confirm them.). :-)

I hope your experience is as good as mine so far.
