Software Update Delay

Software Update Delay

I have an Oct 2017 Model S 75 and I'm still waiting on the most recent software update. I know they roll them out in waves, but I was curious if anyone else is still waiting.

Scorpyo | 27. Februar 2019

I’m still on 2018.50.6

akasroy30 | 27. Februar 2019

Me too. Thanks for posting.

kerryglittle | 28. Februar 2019

2018.50.6 here too but in Canada we are usually a year behind the rest of the world. LOL.

A-Wimoweh | 28. Februar 2019

2018 built in June 2018, still on 2018.49.20. Hooked up to Wifi at home every night. At least y'all got 50.6...

Boonedocks | 28. Februar 2019

and we were supposed to get "dog mode" "sentry mode" and "location based auto-fold mirrors" almost a month ago now. Back when Elon said "next week" a month ago. Another in the saga of "let downs"

reed_lewis | 28. Februar 2019

I am also supposed to be on the 'early access' for new software, and have not gotten anything except 2018.50.6

I am convinced that this 'early access' is merely nothing!

EVRider | 28. Februar 2019

My 2018 Model S on 2018.49.20. Our 2018 Model 3 is on 50.6. Both cars spend most of their time in our garage with WiFi access.

Boonedocks | 28. Februar 2019

+1 EVRider out 2017 X and S are in the garage about 70% of the time and on full speed 90% or better connection grade full 54mbs. For the majority of us it has nothing to do with "poor connection" "no wifi" etc etc etc. Just poor software updating. Some want to add, there is nothin new for your car...although technically true that is the rarest of occasions not the norm.

Still waiting on this from alllmost year ago now:

reed_lewis | 28. Februar 2019

I also have my two cars (S, 3) on a great Wifi signal strength in my garage every night. Tesla needs to add the 'request update' feature. Imagine if Apple ran like this... IOS xx comes out, but you cannot have it until a month later when we decide you can.

EVRider | 28. Februar 2019

@Boonedocks: The tweet didn't say WHEN that new feature would be added (he didn't even say "soon")...

rsrivast | 28. Februar 2019

I am on 2018.50.7, updated early last week. Late 2018 75D.

Boonedocks | 28. Februar 2019

Have another big gulp size of that Kool-Aide :):):)

Rowlie | 28. Februar 2019

I'm still on 2018.48.12 and hoping for an update so I don't have to stop the streaming from my phone every time I get in.

rm760 | 28. Februar 2019

I am on 2018.50.7. Late 2018 MS p100d

jdeskins | 03. März 2019

2018 Model S still on 2018.49.20. Rebooted a few days ago just in case something was locked up but no updates yet.

Yodrak. | 03. März 2019

My Model S 75D, May 2018, is on 2018.49.20

vp09 | 03. März 2019

My 2016 April build 2016 S90D is on 2018.39.6 8377b4b.

I'm trying to sell it. We have weak to zero wifi strength here. I put in a service request, and I have a date 7 weeks from now. Seven weeks waiting for an "Over the air" update!

bp | 04. März 2019

If there's a pause in updates being distributed, it's likely the typical pause prior to a release containing new features.

Hopefully by adding vehicles that already have FSD activated to the Early Access Program, Tesla will be able to find and fix more of the obvious bugs and design flaws that periodically get missed during their testing and make it into the official releases...

Elzir | 04. März 2019

My october 2017 S75 got it's 2019.5.14 update just yesterday.

bp | 05. März 2019

Didn't Musk indicate owners would be getting more control over the distribution of software updates to their cars - including the ability to request a new software update to be installed (without going to a service center)?

This was supposed to be a feature coming up in one of the upcoming software releases - and other than allowing you to initiate an update installation from the smartphone app, haven't seen any improvement in controlling when vehicles get new updates...

EVRider | 05. März 2019

@bp: Yes, Elon said last April we would be able to request updates via the app. Don’t know if Tesla abandoned that idea or have just not gotten around to it.

Carlosm65 | 05. März 2019

Still waiting for Sentry Mode update for my model S. It has taken forever.

Boonedocks | 05. März 2019

That is rolling out next week:

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1093425726139772929?ref_src=twsrc%5E...

Don't hold your breath though, that was from a full month ago now. smh smh smh

awolusa | 05. März 2019

I was just at our
local service center and they told me I had the latest update. I have 2018.50

EVRider | 05. März 2019

@awolusa: You were misinformed. According to https://ev-fw.com/track-reports.php, there were five updates since 2018.50. They probably just wanted you to stop asking for the latest update. :-)

packpike | 05. März 2019

I think Elon confused (maybe not the right word) the 'requesting of updates' with the ability to initiate an update from your app. We received the latter, which is a nice feature, but the former seems to have been either scrapped, never in the works, or still being worked on.

kirksel | 07. März 2019

I wonder if they stopped doing the doggie/sentry update due to bugs. I've seen several YouTube videos (M3) that show that the car doesn't issue a sound when a car is in the next lane and the blinker is on. There's no way so many people are still waiting for it and no one has it unless they stopped distributing it.

Same. Early Access Program seems to have 2019.5.14 (Sentry & Doggie style)

Wifey....we're waiting on doggie style....she says, "Soon!"

EVRider | 07. März 2019

@kirksel: The blind spot warning chime only happens if you start to move into the lane where another vehicle is detected — the turn signal is not enough to activate it.

bp | 08. März 2019

After last week's price drop, customers who already have FSD are supposed to be invited to join the Early Access Program, and should get more frequent updates, with early releases of new software before the official distribution.

We have received the invitations yet for our 2017 S or 2018 X yet.

[Though if we had, under the terms of the Early Access Program, we probably wouldn't be able to confirm we were actually in the EAP...]

EVRider | 08. März 2019

@bp: I assume you meant to say you have NOT received invitations to the EAP yet. Me neither. Has anyone?

Boonedocks | 08. März 2019

Me either. I am not sure anyone from the referral program did either. Heard a lot of complaining from that group that that referral commitment wasn't honored. smh smh smh smh

steven | 08. März 2019

Whenever you ask referral now about something you get a standard email that the referral program has ended, your prizes have been noted and stop emailing us!. Well, not exactly that last part, but it comes down to that :-( It was already hard to get some feedback from them as it could take several weeks, but now I start to wonder whether the whole unit (of maybe 2 people) has been shut down.

All whining aside, Tesla promised and should deliver. I hope they sort this out quickly as I think that with the Model 3 they suddenly have to hand out way more prizes than they anticipated.

taylorgmoody | 08. März 2019

It sounds like they are tweaking the software for all of the new features, which is why a lot of us have not seen it pop up yet.

cheapracer | 09. März 2019

I got the latest update (S70), be careful of what you wish for, I have constant map loading problems and my charging range has been shortened, not happy, not happy at all.

Meine Pearl | 09. März 2019

I got 2019.5.15 pushed yesterday to S and no sentry mode. Dog Mode and Auto folding mirrors based on the location.

Meine Pearl | 09. März 2019

I mean to say no sentry mode but the other two features are available

storm3163 | 09. März 2019

Maybe Tesla should of marketed the discount as this and people wouldn't complain.
+ $1,250 Customer Cash
+ $4,500 Package Cash Allowance
$7,250 TOTAL CASH ALLOWANCE
(This is actually Chevy Discount off one of their vehicles)

storm3163 | 09. März 2019

whoops wrong chat

EVRider | 09. März 2019

@Meine Pearl: You need HW2.5 for Sentry Mode and the dashcam feature — do you have that?

Meine Pearl | 09. März 2019

@EVrider - I took the delivery of my new S in June the last yr - so, I guess I've 2.5. Never tested the dashcam, maybe I should...The release notes also say: Dog Mode and Auto-folding mirrors based on location and minor improvements and bug fixes

Meine Pearl | 09. März 2019

Tested the dashcam feature and it works.

EVRider | 10. März 2019

Someone mentioned in another thread that Sentry Mode isn’t available on Model S or X, but I don’t know if that’s true. I thought it was for any Tesla with HW2.5. I haven’t received the update yet so I can’t verify this on my Model S.

bchiang17 | 10. März 2019

Got my 2018 S in Sept of last year (that’s 2.5 right?) and can confirm 2019.15.5 does NOT have sentry mode. Sucks that the 3 seems to get new features faster than the S/X. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EVRider | 10. März 2019

@bchiang17: HW2.5 was introduced in August 2017, so you have it in your 2018 S. I just re-read Tesla's Sentry Mode announcement (https://www.tesla.com/blog/sentry-mode-guarding-your-Tesla), and it does say the feature is going to Model 3 first, then Model S and X.

bhanuk99 | 10. März 2019

I still have 2018. 50.7 on my 2018 S. Any reason why Tesla is pushing all the latest updates to Model 3 and not the S or X? I thought they are the flagship models.

Bill_75D | 10. März 2019

Model 3 is the new darling of Tesla. S and X are old news.

EVRider | 11. März 2019

Our Model 3 hasn’t received any recent updates either (still on 2018.50.6).

toddcharvey | 11. März 2019

2018 S P100D. I'm still on 2018.50.6 despite receiving "early software release" award from the referral program.

EVRider | 11. März 2019

@toddcharvey: That must be why you have 2018.50.6, when my Model S is still on 2018.49.20. :-)
