Firmware 2019.12.1.2 (updated)

Firmware 2019.12.1.2 (updated)

Release 2019.12.1.2 has been installed in the first few Model 3s on TeslaFi. So far, they are ones that got 2019.12.1.1.

Later on Thursday (2 May 2019), with 13% of the TeslaFi responders on 2019.1.2, 85% are Model 3. The majority of those Model 3 upgrades are from 2019.1.1, with a few from prior major releases like 8.5 and 2018.50.15/06. Half of the Model 3 12.1.1 cars have been upgraded to 12.1.2 firmware.

Friday evening (3 May 2019), more updates started happening from releases prior to 12.1.1 and after a few hours over 60% of the fleet was on 12.1.2

Tuesday evening (7 May 2019), 90% of the TeslaFi M3 fleet is on 12.1.2, 5% are on 8.5 and all other releases are less than 1% each.

Has anyone figured out what is being fixed? I've head a few people saying they were rolled back for problems with 12.1.1, I haven't had any issues but only did one 500 mile road-trip on this version and the faster supercharging was great.

ebmcs03 | 02. Mai 2019

Problems with 12.1.1 already? I guess I should be happy to be on 8.5

elecfan2 | 02. Mai 2019

Well from Teslafi it "appears" that the rollout has stopped for 12.1.1 at least for Model 3 with 40.1% of cars getting the update, a few cars have 12.1.2 or 0.1%, perhaps they are testing and fixing a few bugs and will either resume the rollout or release a bug fix. No biggie, this will go on forever as Tesla is constantly improving the software. I've been chomping at the bit for the faster supercharging as I supercharge a lot with long distance travel and it's a welcomed update.

LA-Fohlen | 02. Mai 2019

12.1.1 is still being rolled out but it appears mainly to Model S and X. I don't see anything on TeslaFi for Model 3 anymore.

@ebmcs03 I am with you, I rather be on a firmware version with minor problems that having early access (being a guinea pig). And since I haven't been using Supercharger at all for the 6 months I have owned my car I will not be on the priority list for the firmware that allows faster charging.

derek.e.spearing | 02. Mai 2019

All of the talk on forums about ‘still being on 8.5’ vs now multiple 12.+ updates, and my M3P is still on 5.15. Regularly connected to WiFi, and I’ve tried every trick in the book save for involving Tesla support...

Proud owner since 11/2018 and have never been this far behind.

elecfan2 | 02. Mai 2019

@drek, perhaps you should contact Tesla support?

CST | 02. Mai 2019

Hmmm... I've been on 2019.12 for quite awhile, when only 1.5% of users had it, and yesterday I got a "software update available" on my mobile devices. But nothing showed in the app or the car. Maybe they revoked the update.

cnistal1 | 02. Mai 2019

I got 12.1.1 a few days ago. I'm having a strange issue with my blinkers. The left is normal, however the right blinks twice as fast as the left. Very odd anomaly! Tried a reboot, didn't correct the issue. Hopefully, next update will fix the issue.

Test-La | 02. Mai 2019

I just got of the chat with a rep and he said the new firmware is "not ready" I asked if it is because of bugs discovered but he claimed no details were given. So it seems Tesla stopped pushing 12.1.1

vts747 | 02. Mai 2019

Got 12.1.2 from 8.5 20 min ago.

LikeLightning | 02. Mai 2019

@vts747 - same

JAD | 02. Mai 2019

Cnistal, that usually means you have a bulb out. Check your lights.

cnistal1 | 02. Mai 2019

@Jad
Thanks for the advice. Will check tonight.

2019.12.1.1 has depletion, my battery lost 6 miles in 4 hours

rxlawdude | 02. Mai 2019

12.1.2 is out.

dann2yu | 02. Mai 2019

I was updated to 2019.12.1.1 several days ago. Now the advance summon is gone. Does anyone know why?

Mikael13 | 02. Mai 2019

I just got updated to 12.1.1 two days ago. Now I just got another software update notification. Hmmm we’ll see what surprises this one has :-)

tony | 02. Mai 2019

I Got 12.1.1 two days ago, just got 12.1.2

Jonathanevans | 02. Mai 2019

Tesla chat just pushed down 2019.12.1.2 to our car after I explained that the phone keys no longer connect, nor can be reconnected after 12.1.1.
Fingers crossed.

EVRider | 02. Mai 2019

@dann2yu: Advance Summon hasn’t been released to anyone except beta testers, so you very likely never had it.

SteveWin1 | 02. Mai 2019

Just got 12.1.2 also

Sslnight | 02. Mai 2019

Just got this update also after 12.1.1 update two days ago. Loved the new update and no issues. The high speed power felt good and the new games are fun! My guess is this update is just for bug fixes. My 3D has fsd but i did not see any changes with 12.1.1 or 12.1.2 at this time. My 3D did and still does not have enhanced summon. I am not in the beta testing crowd.

elecfan2 | 02. Mai 2019

@ssInight, nobody has full self driving at least except development vehicles. We might have paid for it, but nobody has it.

Sslnight | 02. Mai 2019

@ewd7 yes. No car has fsd at the moment. But for the sake of understanding what someones car has to see if it makes a difference for someone on here to determine what this update may mean for them i added the level i bought with my car.

Please dont be so offended by statements like this. You know what I meant. Take the info for what you will. And for the record i hope you have a good evening.

elecfan2 | 02. Mai 2019

@SsInight, no offense taken. Just want to be clear that nobody has FSD, everyone has the suite of features that used to be in enhanced autopilot and there is no difference YET between the old enhanced autopilot and those of us that bought FSD (whether it's the old FSD or the new one, which are the same thing).

dls2000 | 02. Mai 2019

Was on 12.1.1 yesterday and yes there are bugs. Screen rebooted spontaneously and streaming would error out when rear view camera is activated during driving. Just received 12.1.2 tonight.

texxx | 02. Mai 2019

Just got 12.1.2 as well. Three updates now in less than a week. 12.1 sure is proving to be an "interesting" release.

lunde | 02. Mai 2019

Both of our M3Ds received the 2019.12.1.2 update this evening. Huge push today: https://teslafi.com/firmware/

kc4129 | 02. Mai 2019

Just installed 12.1.2 tonight after receiving 12.1.1 two days ago. Backup camera goes black and front left USB port not charging issues were both fixed on 12.1.1, hope 12.1.2 won’t break anything again.

chadbobb | 02. Mai 2019

12.1.1 was giving me a message about "reduced visibility, blindspot detecting limited" or something like that.

I hope this fixes that. Installing for me now.

mdennick | 02. Mai 2019

Got 2.1.1 on our Model 3 (w/ EAP) last night. Today noticed screen blacked out for a few moments when I got in the car. On Autopilot the graphics around the car avatar were gone. No lane lines, no other cars. It was operating, but I didn't trust it at all. When I put in a nav route, NOA didn't come up as an option either. After about 10min all those functions appeared. Everything was normal from then on.
After getting home the 2.1.2 s/w showed up. I wasn't surprised.

royans | 02. Mai 2019

I had 12.1.1 earlier in the day today and my auto pilot suddenly went offline today while I was driving with autopilot on inner city roads. I was driving straight and I had my hands on the wheel, but the abrupt and very quick hand off to manual without significant audible alert was slightly concerning. I have photos of the screen after it happened... At that point the car was fully manual and even though I had cars around me the screen showed no cars or lanes around me.

I assume this is what is fixed. I got the 12.1.2 update within an hour of the incident.

Glad to see the team isolate and update this quickly. But for next few days I would be paying more attention to make sure this doesn't happen again.

ILoveMyModel3 | 02. Mai 2019

I received 2019.12.1.1 on Monday days and I received 2019.12.1.2 a few hours ago.

-TheJohn- | 02. Mai 2019

I had exactly the same experience as you dann2yu.
Received 12.1.1 yesterday and it wiped advanced. Got 12.1.2 today and hoped to get it back but nay nor any new notifications re software updates/abilities than they gave with 12.1.1

Man NOAP is getting super smart though!

jschwartz58 | 02. Mai 2019

Has anyone had a problem with home charging since the update. My speed for charging has been cut in half.

rchau28 | 02. Mai 2019

Installing now.

jjgunn | 02. Mai 2019

Had an OA look at my P3D currently on 2019.8.5

He told me the new firmware is downloaded to my car but for some reason the client that launches the install won't launch on the car or the app. He doesn't know why.

I rebooted the car & it's on WiFi -- just waiting on the alert to update.

New lane assist in this release?? Don’t see any sign of that in the release notes or config screens

I don't see any sign of the new announced safety features in 2019.12.1.2. (https://electrek.co/2019/05/02/tesla-active-safety-features-autopilot/)

Anyone see anything?

jjt2122 | 02. Mai 2019

I just got the notification for the new update. I will post what the new update entails :)
