    Why would you want to test drive a Tesla Model S? That doesn't sound right to me. You want to buy a Tesla Model X, so you should make a reservation for the Tesla Model X. When the time comes, it will be possible to make a test drive in a Tesla Model X. That's the way it is, and should be.

    I made a Model X reservation and was allowed to test drive a Model S at the New Jersey event in June 2012. Make your X reservation so you can get your spot. Hopefully, there will be Model X's to test drive this summer.

    Tesla Motors is working on it to make a test drive in a Tesla Model X possible. This summer, or shortly after that, I think.

    Spoke with Corporate and they said if I switch from the Model S to the Model X they will slot me into a cancelation made around the time I put my original deposit down. No guarantees though. That was enough for me to move to the Model X today (and the showroom agreed to let me drive an S for now just to see how an EV drives).
