Front License Plate?

I see many many vehicles (non-Tesla and Tesla) driving around without front license plates. Im aware that New York is one state that requires them. Anyone have experience with not having them on? Looks alot better without it, but not worth a ticket.

  • Reviving this, it looks like NYS does not require front license plate anymore effective as of Jan 1st 2020.

  • I want to revive this discussion because I just took delivery of a MY. It looks like this is in committee and has not yet been voted on.

    Agreed.

Front plates are still required in NYS.

I just took deliver of a MY this week in NYC and was shocked to see them apply the front plate with an adhesive strip....weird for a $50K car.

That’s unfortunate. My local service center said they do not put it on unless the customer requests it.

I applied a small rectangle of paint protection film before I affixed the OEM adhesive plate holder. It doesn’t look worse than the other options in my opinion.
