Model 3

Michelin Crossclimat 2 vs. +

I am looking at Michelin Crossclimate 2 vs Crossclimate +. I have the 18" wheels on my long-range rear wheel drive M3.

The CrossClimate + is available in the standard Tesla stock tire size (235/45/18) while the Crossclimate 2 only comes in a 235/50/18. Will the Crossclimate 2 size work on the M3? Will that middle number, "50" vs "45" cause a problem or will it work just fine? Or should I just go with the Crossclimate +?

Advice pleas...

Thanks...

  • I read up on replacement tires for Model 3 18" tires and decided to get CrossClimate+. The only comments I saw on CrossClimate 2 is that they were not a good choice.
For your question, I would go with the exact specifications match, which is the CrossClimate +.
  • The 50s will be a taller combination so the speedo will show a lower than actual speed. Rubbing could be an issue, especially on full lock.
  • Plus side, your odometer will read lower :D Although, I think you can adjust that in the settings
  • Do they make it for the 19 inch wheel?
  • You can’t adjust the speedo.

You might want to consider a wider tire. The Tesla OEM tire is actually too small for the wheel which is why the wheel rim sticks out and new Tesla owners first complaint is frequently scraping the wheels.

When I put on Micheline Xices for Winter, I went wider and the tire shop techs noted it fit the wheel much better.

You can compare tire/wheel size combos here.
