Model 3

2021?

So I just placed my order for my SR+ w/FSD Sent an email to confirm that I'll be getting the refreshed model since its the 6-10 week delivery window now. But was wondering if anyone had heard if that's what we'll be getting if we just ordered.

Reason I ask is I've seen mentioned elsewhere the refresh comes with the USBC, Wireless Charging, Heat pump, and electric lift gate, but don't really see specifics of stuff like this anywhere on my order or on the site.

I'm still having some concerns as having not gone with LR even though I doubt I'll often need the extra 90 miles, but wanted to lock in FSD price before it hikes Thursday.

  • If your car hasn't been built yet then it will be a 2021, your delivery is 6 weeks out which presumably means it won't be built for a month. Have you called Tesla to confirm that you will be getting a 2021? Talking to them is the only way to absolutely confirm that it's a 2021. If it shows up at the delivery center and has chrome trim then refuse to take it because that's a 2020, if it has black trim it's a 2021.
  • Thanks that's about what I thought, I'm still waiting on the my tesla rep to call me regarding the purchase, he called but i missed it and then when i called back he was on the phone so hopefully he will call me Monday, I already emailed him and hope he will reach out on Monday and this is one of the questions I will confirm.

Financing went through Friday said approved, and i accepted, then today saw it said conditional approved, with lower conditional APR and had to submit ID stuff, and now says its pending again... So that's something I'll have to ask about Monday too lol.
  • @lordpuddingcup - I assume you ordered it off from Tesla Web site.
Key things: Range 263 Miles. All cars have Power Trunk, ... . And the newer 18" Wheels are shown on the car.

I would say you are covered.
  • Ahh kinda figured cause the new range was listed, will double check if the Tesla rep ever calls back, kinda happy cause chase just beat wellsfargos rate for my final loan via Tesla, gotta say that went kinda nicely.

Kinda figured chase gave better rate since I have cc’s with them worth more than the amount I’m financing lol.
  • BTW do you happen to know how long it takes to get the VIN? I'm at the step now that tesla wants the insurance picture but can't get insurance quotes without a VIN or a insurance date
  • “Lord Pudding Cup”
Great name; can’t wait to hear what you name your car!
  • I guess Pudding Pops have a bad name now:)

I'm in the same timeline as you, ordered about 10 days ago. I sent in a picture of my current insurance form. This is acceptable. I believe they just want proof you are "insurable". So assuming you have current insurance for another vehicle. Send that in. If not, get a quote from a local insurance company using your drivers license and matching information.

    Hope that helps!
  • I had to provide proof of insurance on the actual VIN number. The delivery specialist said it had to be uploaded before delivery but it could be done they day of and I should bring the proof with me just in case. When I got my VIN and delivery date I just added to my policy and had my insurance company activate it on midnight of the delivery date.
  • Tesla knows that you can't get insurance without a VIN. Remind your delivery representative, and they may be able to speed up the process.
  • Just got off with tesla rep, and ya seems im fine to not provide it he said i can wait till day before to upload it to the form even, as long as i do it before i come get the car.

Apparently he said i should have VIN in about 4 weeks or so and then can after that check with him to see where the cars before the ready date.

He also said if I ordered custom, which I did, it will be the 2021 release I'm getting at delivery, he couldn't actively confirm because he wasn't at his office when he called me back but said he would check later to confirm.

This is my first car in the USA, was out of country since ~14 yo, and back now at 37 with my USA drivers license since a year, which seems to mean getting insurance is gonna be a process, Nationwide and some others have duration requirements for being in the USA before they can give you their best tiers.

Gotta love driving for 20+ years, and being told only the last year counts LOL.

Maybe LOL, go all the way and get a M3PUDDIN plate?
  • You won’t be able to pick up the car without proof of insurance effective that day.

I had insurance starting on a Monday, my scheduled delivery day. Tesla called me on Friday and said they could deliver on Saturday. The insurance company initially balked at the change because they had to rewrite the policy but they were nice and did it for me.

As the old saying goes, there is many a slip twixt the cup and the lip.

Ha! Yup, my driving in all corners of the globe for 27 years (among some of the worst drivers on the planet...French, Italians & Peruvians were the worst!) meant for nothing to any insurance company! Had to start all over! Even had to redo my driving test! Ha!
