Taycan 4S has fastest ever EV Cannonball Run

18 months ago whether or not this was possible was hotly debated. So I guess we can put the not enough range and no good charging network talk to bed. The results...

44 hours and 25 minutes. ~An hour faster than Model 3 Long Range.

You probably missed it because you were away in Washington ‘having a debate’ with the lawmakers.
  • Modified car requiring assistance from Porsche at many (all?) chargers. Charged at otherwise impossible power levels with resultant battery degradation Also a non functioning Nav lemon.
  • Give me a case of Mountain Dew and a bottle to pee in and I will do it solo and beat that time.

When I retire I'm going to try to go from Jacksonville Beach FL to San Diego non stop since I have relatives near both places and it's the shortest Atlantic to Pacific Ocean route.

Going to quote you on that, thanks
  • Drive on I 95 in FL. Most cars in the crash lane are doing 100.
Lambo drivers passed me on an unescorted rally a few years and told me they were doing 200. Cops can't catch them and mistakenly thought they were all going to a different site where a car event was occurring.

On a police escorted road rally, I was doing about 120 and a state trooper who was escorting us flew by really fast. I saw the sherriff and asked him how fast he was going.
He smiled and said "We were all doing the speed limit sir."
  • Cannonball has prescribed start and end points, FYI.

While "impossible" for current lower tech Teslas, the Porsche's 800V/350kW system can charge safely at the Electrify American 350kW chargers.

You might want to be a bit more precise. What are you claiming was a lie in the @TorqueNews article?

  • In fairness to @Darthamerica, @PteRoy did not mention Cannonball in his title.

  • This means what to average distance to a charger for any American wanting to travel?

Still sparse for all to the point you have to plan a lot of long distance travel in EVs. But all capable of coast to coast
  • And it helps to have a Porsche team of engineers sitting at each charging station along the way, as CCS is so awful, it couldn't be trusted otherwise.
  • I must have missed that one TT. You really do hate the Taycan don't you?
  • Just remind everyone that a $150,000 car is allowed to be better at something than a $50k Model 3P.

Absolutely, though in this case per company tradition, VW had to cheat.

You’re hardly indifferent. This is a general forum where EVs are talked about. Taycan is an EV and right now it happens to be one of the best EV you can buy. If you’re into performance then it is the best EV available.

A lot of people here went out of their way to disparage Taycan because of range and now it’s clear that was an unfair criticism. It’s also great that we have more options with EVs. You should be happy about that. Instead people are further embarrassing themselves by making up lies about a car. But if you want to believe it has short range and isn’t the best at performance, carry on. But it makes you look rather ridiculous when every month it’s setting a new record or out performing competition in some way.

Four Porsche threads posted in General.

    None by me.

    Only one by @Darthamerica
