Had to think about that, you mean degrees of a compass not temperature, right?

Yep, and, as @inconel points out, we do measure angles 2 ways: arbitrary units and fraction of the radius but laymen almost exclusively use degrees.
As far as a compass goes: sailors sometimes use points instead of degrees but they have their own words and standards for many things (fathoms, knots, nautical miles, etc.)
