@GS12282006 - The MCU2 retrofit price includes the return of the old MCU1 for possible refurbishment. The latest MCU2 retrofit price is $1500, but you can keep MCU1 if you pay a total of $2500. In essence, you are getting a $1000 discount for letting Tesla keep MCU1. Note that MCU2/MCU1 in this context includes the related instrument panel.
MCU2 includes a 2-year 25,000-mile warranty. I doubt there is any warranty on a removed MCU1.
On the screens, Tesla has gone back and forth on this. When the price was $2500 (and they keep MCU1), they included new displays. To some people, they offered a $2250 price if reusing the display.
In all cases, the instrument cluster gets a new display. With the new lower price, I don't know if the main screen is replaced or not.
