Hello! I ordered model 3 on February 15, 2021. I was wondering if anyone ordered around similar time and got any updates about delivery?

I think 4-6 weeks would be a fair estimate. Not sure where you live, but do not anticipate it any sooner. It will be a bonus if it does
  • I too ordered a M3 LR Grey FSD on Feb 6th and confirmed all of the details. Uploaded INS information, accepted my trade in and had my financing confirmed. No date. Says 4-8 weeks. Sales advisor said "we will call you when it gets here". Thats it. I am concerned because the trade in is only good for 30 days and the financing for 90. Don't want to go through it all again and don't want to all the advisor to be a pain in the butt.
  • Ordered White on White M3 SR+ on Feb. 6th as well in Vancouver, Canada. Also confirmed all details and delivery estimate says 4-8 weeks from order date with no VIN. Concerned about the BC Incentives running out as the grant is 3000$ CAD.
  • @tgolden - It might be good if the trade-in is reevaluated in 30 days. According to the WSJ today, used car prices are actually going up right now. Demand is higher than available inventory. That said, I suppose it could go down too. I hope it works out in your favor.
  • I live in Chicago, when I called sales advisor they said 3-6 weeks from ordered date but my account shows 4-7 weeks.
  • Ordered on Jan 24th, then changed the interior to white on Feb 4th. No updates yet, but the est delivery time online under account no longer shows March 7 - 31.

Tesla manufactures in batches, with the white interiors appearing to be last. I ordered our MSM/White interior LR AWD Model 3 on Jan 2, but delivery will be in late March.
  • The site quotes June for Australian M3P delivery.
800 M3 arrived in Aus this week from China, so I guess the P will be shipped ex USA, does anyone know?
2019 models are asking over new price.
  • Report just came out saying Model 3 production has been halted from Feb 22nd to March 7th most likey due to the Chip shortage.
  • A chip shortage, but not the auto industry problem in the news. The Samsung Fab in Texas shut down due to a power outage. May take 1-2 weeks to start up again. Samsung losing millions every day the fab is offline, so they are doing everything possible to bring it back online. At least it was a controlled shutdown. Otherwise, it could be far longer if the production line had to start from scratch.
  • Any delays in M3 production gives Tesla more time to resolve any new issues with the heat pump and new battery chemistries. Might be better to get a later-produced M3, you never know.
  • Update - It appears the Tesla factory shutdown was only 2 days and it is back up and running.
  • I saw a YouTube video that stated Tesla is not effected by the chip shortage because they designed their own chip even though they do not make it themselves.
  • Order date Feb 14. No vin no updates yet. Anyone got their vin or estimated delivery date??
  • My date is listed as February 15 - March 15, but I was told to likely expect a delivery by late March.
  • Thank you all for your replies! I don't see any updates from Tesla . I was initially shown delivery time: March 13- 31st but later got changed to 4-7 weeks from date I ordered. I don't understand why that happened. I assume with all these delays going on I might receive during April. > @T3000 said:

Do you see any estimated delivery dates on your account page?
  • I am in Kansas City. Ordered LR silver w/black on 2/16. Still says 3-6 weeks. No vin.
  • In Illinois, Ordered LR Silver with black on 2/25, eta 3-5weeks from order date. No vin.
  • Just talked with my SA, estimated delivery time is 3-5weeks. Still no vin #. I’m in SoCal.

Well, two problems with this. Tesla has close to 500 chips in the car. Two are designed by Tesla and manufactured by Samsung in Texas. And of course, the Samsung factory got shut down due to a lack of power. Sounds like Tesla kept enough inventory to ride that problem out. Samsung expects to be back in production in 1-2 weeks from the outage. It's not something you instantly turn on. Luckily they had a controlled shutdown. An uncontrolled shutdown could take months to start up again with massive losses for in-progress chips that have to be scrapped.

Unlike other automakers, as far as I can tell, Tesla did not cancel chip orders like all the other automakers during the downturn. Tesla never had a downturn. More recently, Tesla may also benefit from having the S/X lines shut down, where many chips ordered for those cars could go to the 3/Y production.
  • Its not just the chip set its the SBCs they use. Major shortage right now!
