PowerA Xbox controller not working in new Model Y

I bought the following PowerA Xbox controller brand new based on reading other's success with it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F454ZK5. However, when I plug it into the front USB in my new Model Y, nothing happens and the games act like I still need to plug in a controller. I'm able to charge my phone with a different cable in the exact same USB port. Any ideas?

  • I use a wireless XBox controller and a wireless dongle and it works perfectly.

  • Did you try the other port? I remember reading that one port can transmit while the other can’t. I could be mistaken.

I used a PS4 controller with a type c to micro USB cable and it works well!

In my Model Y, the 2 front ports are USB-A and USB-C where the included wireless charger is already using USB-C port. The controller comes with type A to micro USB cable. Maybe it's worth getting a type C adapter or cable to see if that works with the controller?
