Tesla x - auto pilot brake makes rock grinding sound when it comes to sudden stop.

The rock grinding sound from the brake only happens during the auto pilot.
It is perfectly fine when I press the brakes on the normal driving, however during the auto pilot when the vehicle comes to sudden stop, I hear the rock grinding sound and the steering wheel becomes shimmy.
Anyone experience similar situation, please advise.

    I did observe the same. Lets see if any one posts information on this.

    I have heard of a couple of cases of a small rock getting stuck in the brakes and making a crunching noise, but I don't think it was restricted to AP. I'd take the car in to service and have them look at it.

    Mine were grinding in normal drive after less than a month. I was told the roters were warped and they were replaced. However, it has continued. I was told to give it 200 more miles and 600 later they still grind. Going back this week to have it checked out again.

    i don't know if i would call it "rock grinding" but there is definitely more noise and jerkiness when autopilot brakes than when i do. Not always, but for the more sudden braking that it does.

    I have the same phenomenon, it sounds like it comes from the left front. It is not minor, it sounds like something seriously wrong in there. I have a recording of it. It is not a rock in the brakes, because it only happens during autopilot.

    I noticed it today, but couldn't replicate it. It only happened once.

    I have experienced the same in my 2018 MS. Also only during autopilot ! Any answers ?

    It's the sound of the anti-lock brakes engaging. Happens to ours as well (well, it used to until it was totaled at 3635 miles on the odometer). Seems that AP2.5 brakes a bit too hard, needs to be tweaked.

    My 2020 model s is making loud sound on auto braking while in auto pilot at stop signs.

    Any luck finding an answer jthukral? Same thing happening to me in my new S. Also happens when I am in adaptive / smart cruise control mode at low speeds. It’s really weird and makes me not trust AP or cruise.

    My 3 weeks old Model Y did something similar with autopilot ON and traveling very slowly in traffic. The noise was a loud chattering/grinding sound and the car stopped on its own, even though there was plenty of space between my car and the car in front. I turned off autopilot and the noise went away, and I was able to drive normally.
    This has happened only this one time. I contacted Tesla service and they recommended to file a bug report if/when it happens again.

    I experience grinding break sounds when the cars is on hold and I start to drive and when I press breaks lightly and make a turn. It is annoying. Once I was reversing with light breaks and turning, someone knocked on my window and mentioned that 'this car is making lot of noise, better get checked.' Tesla service didn't take seriously as it does not make sound when standing still :) Taking to service and being returned saying no prob found is frustrating, so I am just living with it until some damage happens.
