It's time to have some fun designing and finalizing your Model S. We have made the entire process available online from anywhere with an internet connection.

The days of having to stop into an auto dealer to buy a car are over. We have made the entire process available from anywhere with an internet connection. You can design your car, request paperwork and even sign your paperwork from the comfort of your home. If you have not designed your Model S yet, you can start right here. If you already designed your car and are ready to request paperwork, just click here to continue the process.

    It must be nice. I get to testdrive a Model S on August 19 in Dallas. I can hardly wait. Your post of the copy of the email lacks returns at the end of the line causing it to go on in a single line for each sentence. Could you edit your post and add returns every 10 or 12 words so the rest of us can read it. Parts of the copy are blocked out by the Active Topics section on the right side of the screen.

    When you make your configuration payment and sign the contract to build let us know your projected delivery date.

    Could somebody explain the letter (I.e., "P") everyone is referring to in front of their reservation number? Mine is just a number with no letter.

    They have to be on at least car number 3000 by the end on November or they will never make the 5000 target.

    What is the sender's email address that the notice comes from? I want to make sure it doesn't go into my spam folder. I'm P4051.

    Note that all the demos, Founder, SSL, and Sigs come before that. Say 1,300. So the P# would have to be >1700 or so. There might be a few headed for Urp by then which have their own sequence #s.

    As Elon said, all we have to to is track VINs or serial #s for recent deliveries to have a good idea of total production/delivery. But he's not making it "open"; the sleuthing is up to us/journalists/other nosy persons.

    Also, Sudre_, note the repeated emphasis that 5,000 in 2012 is a "soft" target. Elon is personally determined to make everyone work through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve if necessary to achieve it, but his "commitments" are 1: delivery begins by Summer 2012; 2: gross margins will be 'at least' 25% (i.e., after direct Cost of Production); 3. 'at least' 20,000 will be produced in 2013 (assuming demand doesn't fall off a cliff). (He is actually talking about being production-constrained to perhaps 30,000 in 2013.)

    At the very least, production rate by Dec. 31 will be at or above the 20,000/annum pace.

    I'm S320 and was told to expect a call in Sept for an Oct delivery. I can't wait!!

    No, the highest reported Signature S-1299 was quoted a November estimated delivery. There are no General Production estimated deliveries in October.
