Have you seen an S on the road today?

Have you seen an S on the road today?

My wife and I, waiting for our S, play a silly game: "Seen a S today on the road?" Then we look at where we saw them. So far I have the record: just 2 in a day so far. All but one were in the mid-peninsula area. One black one seen entering I85 in Cupertino. Somehow it is satisfying to me to see them showing up. None seen so far appear to be demos: no copilot. Res number P7214 with Feb-Mar est delivery.

San Diego - Lindbergh Field, Terminal 1. Signature red. CA Lic #4GETOIL. Like a true TM dork, I took a picture of a parked car. Maybe I was surpised to see one without a crowd around it.

See you on the roads, neighbor.

Saw VIN#1 (TSLA S1) on 101 in Palo Alto yesterday.

TINO F | 10 November, 2012

Saw a Black P85 in Phoenix with Black Leather, and Purple wood. Also had Purple piping on the seat.

Integrated nose cone idea? That's exactly what I think Tesla should have done (indeed all manufacturers for that matter)

I don't know of any state that doesn't require a front license plate so I'm amazed that designers haven't figured it out in all this time!

@CherifB | NOVEMBER 10, 2012: I don't know of any state that doesn't require a front license plate so I'm amazed that designers haven't figured it out in all this time!

A quick internet search reveals that the following state do not require a front plate:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia.

But I would agree that some kind of integrated nose cone should be available.

reitmanr | 11 November, 2012

Yeah! Another Sig red seen this evening on 85 near San Jose CA headed north at a good clip. Two gents onboard- they ddn't respond to my salute horn. but why would they... I was driving our litle Prius- hardly noteworty- and we love our 50mpg hybrid. Still waiting for an expected delivery in March of P7214 85kWH standard.

mfcnova | 12 November, 2012

I saw a Model S Signature in Tyson's Corner, VA on November 10. The car is Signature Red with 21" Silver Wheels. I didn't see the P85 emblem on the rear of the car. This was my first public sighting in VA.

DocDog | 12 November, 2012

Saw my first one parked at a racquet club in the St. Louis area this weekend.

reitmanr | 12 November, 2012

Silver Ms spotted on Foothill near Sandhill headed into Menlo Park.Looked Great!but afterall, M T car of the Year! Congrats all Around!

PerfectCode | 13 November, 2012

I have yet to see a Model S on the roads! While disappointing, I am confident I will spot one soon in the Portland metro area.

2EV-Family | 13 November, 2012

@ Teoatawki

My wife spotted a beautiful Signature Red Model S not far from home (SE Bellevue) on Sunday 11/11/12. Guessing it was Teoatawki since I read he delivered on 11/8. Congrats and jealous!

2EV-Family | 13 November, 2012

..............hhhhhmmmmm......not that I should presume...he/she

dahtye | 13 November, 2012

I saw a Red Model S already with license plate going westbound on Hwy 237 near Sunnyvale, CA - I think it was October 30th....just after I got my Red Model S (factory deliver on 10/27). We both saw each other and both gave a "thumbs up".
My daily commute is from Redwood City to North San Jose, so I travel Hwy 101 and Hwy 237 daily. No license plate or HOV sticker yet.

Red Sig Performance with 21" silver wheels, Black leather (red piping), paint armor.

I charge regularly at work (using Blink charger or NEMA 14-50) but have also installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet at home if needed. I normally just plug into 110V outlet for a trickle charge at home - only need 6KW when driving home from work (about 19 miles).

I used the Supercharger at the Folsom Outlets a few weekends ago - wow, this thing was pumping 81KWHr of juice in - I got a full charge in about 1 hour (from about 60 rated miles remaining to 240 Rated miles)!

Teoatawki | 13 November, 2012

Might have been me. No plate yet, and the driver looks like Grizzly Adams. 21" Silver rims, glass pano roof, black interior with red piping and CF trim. Spoiler is still promised.

Switching to winter tires this Friday, leaving for Minneapolis on Saturday.

dashrb | 14 November, 2012

I believe I saw a signature red/21" this morning (11/14) near Chantilly, VA. It was turning toward me and blocked by traffic, so I only saw the headlights and door handles. It could have been the same one that @mfcnova saw, or perhaps we have a second one in NoVa!

MB3 | 14 November, 2012

Saw Kck gas in my. I believe that is mandl's Sig S.

SSL161 | 14 November, 2012

Got word of a black one in Folsom today.

Black, light wheel.

Nice to have company!

Saw two White Model S's in Los Gatos today, one with grey 21" the other with silver.

Captain_Zap | 14 November, 2012

An hour ago (10pm) a Red Sig on the 520 bridge between Seattle and Bellevue.

Dazzling headlights.

reitmanr | 16 November, 2012

One sig Red Model S seen on El Camino Real in Menlo Park headed south, caught in traffic like me, just he was grinning instead of fuming like me and all the other ICE cars stuck in place. No license plate and a more mature driver with glasses. Thought he might be headed to the Menlo Park Tesla Show Room but when I arrived, he was not there. There were two or three sig Red Mod S parked alongside the service area. I suspect getting ready for delivery. Can't count these in my contest with my wife. They have to be on the road, so I get 1 MS for the day.

jchangyy | 19 November, 2012

Saw a white Model S on 11/18/12, sometime in the late afternoon, heading south on El Camino Real in Sunnyvale, CA. First time I've seen it in the mild, although I presume there are more MS owners in the Silicon Valley than anywhere else as of yet. patiently waiting for mine.

jaq1 | 19 November, 2012

I saw a black model S in Bethesda, MD on River Road. Can't wait to get mine.

chris.stewart | 19 November, 2012

Saw a Sig Red in the Day's Inn parking lot in Vancouver, WA this morning, just across the river from Portland. It had Nevada plates.

Then, later in the afternoon, I saw the Portland store's brown test drive car driving around Beaverton. Two in one day!

jbunn | 19 November, 2012

Two Teslae tonight, not including a demo driver and a display car at the Santanna row store. One white one parked in the Tesla parking zone at Santanna, and a black one parked at the Hyatt in Santa Clara, both customer owned.

E-Brian: That was me! (4GET OIL) Hello neighbor!

EcLectric | 20 November, 2012

I saw a black Model S and a red one (no license plate yet) this morning on Shoreline Blvd in Mountain View, CA. Can't wait for mine to join them...

wellnext | 20 November, 2012

A friend of mine saw a model S in West Hawaii on the Big Island, going North toward Kawaihae. Hope I can see it and confirm his report.....

ir | 24 November, 2012

Saw a Signature Red pulling into Lockheed Martin complex in Sunnyvale, CA.

DennisM | 24 November, 2012

Heard of a sighting last week at an SDG&E event - yes, one of the executives at the local gas and electric will now get to use his employee discount to power his car! But I finally saw my first Model S "in the wild" yesterday - I'm guessing a Silver Metallic Sig Performance (although it looked more Champagne-colored, it had the grey performance wheels). He had just exited a well-known "fast" stretch of Highway 52 that runs from La Jolla to San Diego's East County and was getting back on westbound. I was also heading west and, when I saw him coming toward me, I thought: "Ooh, cool ca...wait a minute!" And then he zoomed by. I stuck my had out the window and he acknowledged my "thumbs up." Came home and told my wife I didn't know whether to be elated or depressed. P1269 - supposed to be December now. Not holding my breath....

Brian H | 24 November, 2012

Yeah, you shoulda been thinking, "gggrrrrrr".

Captain_Zap | 24 November, 2012

Today we were westbound on Bainbridge Island, WA in our Sig Red and saw a green Sig going Eastbound. I heard a rumor that there was a custom green Model S over there.

We were both going to fast to acknowledge each other.

DennisM | 24 November, 2012

Thanks, Jerry3 - glad my eyes weren't playing tricks....

Brian H | 24 November, 2012

There couldn't have been a green Sig. Must have been a Production demo unit. Sigs are just red, black, white, silver.

ThomasN | 24 November, 2012

Hence the word custom.

mrspaghetti | 24 November, 2012

Like maybe a Founder car?

lph | 25 November, 2012

Saw another in Bellevue, WA yesterday. Nearly drove off the road looking at it and can't remember the color. This Tesla car is not safe for me to look at. I've heard that owning one cures this problem ;-p

nickjhowe | 25 November, 2012

re green Sig: Remember that the VERY early sig holders had an option to choose custom colours (hence the pink one (!), but that option was removed after the first few cars. Sig green is therefore very possible.

Brian H | 26 November, 2012

I think the pink/lavender was the last.

Captain_Zap | 26 November, 2012

We were told that there was a Green unicorn Signature in the area that had the custom paint. It was in the correct neighborhood too.
Just verifying! A gorgeous green at that.

reitmanr | 26 November, 2012

Stuck in traffic on El Camino Real Menlo Park CA at 10:45AM headed south, a lovely silver. So he and I were not moving, but I am sure he was enjoying sitting there more than I was in my Prius. Sooooon!
("he"...excuse my sexist attitude- couldn't see the driver)

jd3tm | 26 November, 2012

One for the books...

I work in a relatively small office building in downtown San Jose, just outside the airport, hint, hint!

There are TWO Model S Sigs at work...Mine, Sig Perf Pearl White and a Sig (Perf I believe) in Signature Red.

Pretty amazing that 2 of the first 1000 should work at the same building!

And, Yes, we both have Tesla Smiles when we come to work!

reitmanr | 26 November, 2012

Second S today. Sig Red on El Camino headed north. We are close to the service center so I guess I should not be surprised. Menlo Park is S City!
Around 1pm. Anyone I Know?

SSL161 | 28 November, 2012

Woohoo! I got my first Model S sighting, finally!!

I'm still down in the game though, my wife saw it first and pointed it out to me.

So Sarah 1.5, me 1. (1/5 "spotting first" bonus)

We exchanged "Nice car!" Call outs to each other and chatted briefly.

White Sig, 19', tan is all that I could pick up though. We were in Carmichael.

joshuaeven | 28 November, 2012

2nd hand sightings count? My wife saw a Sig Red at Electic Avenue at Portland State University downtown. She immediately texted me a picture. Very exciting!

jglass | 28 November, 2012

Followed a white one today on Mullholland Drive in Los Angeles. I've seen a couple others on the freeways the past few weeks.

Scorch | 28 November, 2012

One my co-workers so one today just outside of Boulder CO! Exciting to see them in my state now too. :)

Christopher3 | 28 November, 2012

No but I saw a Fisker and two roadsters on 620 in Lakeway (Austin ). I'm betting the Fisker will be a much more rare sighting than the Model S in the next few weeks.

lajollan | 28 November, 2012

saw 2 in the last week, Pearl white sig going dwon Milwaukee Ave. in glenview, IL and a Sig Red going down Deerfield Road in Riverwoods, IL.
