Styling of the Model S

Styling of the Model S

I don' t say this too often about contemporary cars but the Model S is a good looking car. It is the car I wish other manufacturers would design and build. Fortunately, this car will be built in Fremont, California, the only one built in California since all other car manufacturers stopped producing automobiles in the Golden State.

Yeah, CA is so desperate for new businesses and employment I'm sure the gov. will be super-accommodating. But Lotus Landers hate people who don't make money by acting or selling weed.

I was searching for Model S pictures in different colours and I found a nice page where you can select the colours of the Model S. This are not the official colours but you can get an imagination how the car will look in different colours...

Where did my message go? Bug?

Shortened version: Car is gorgeous. Something that you would expect from Aston Martin. Even performance is right. Don't need seven seats, would sell with four. Relatively cheap Aston Martin with enough space to make pick-ups envy. Want one.

I agree with member "French Driver" comment. Model S is an amazing looking car. My wife and I have been looking forward to visiting the local show room to take a look at it and one day purchasing it.

Hey, wjjw71, I have some pictures of the car interior on my fan site. http://toyotatesla.com/Wallpapers.html

Hey TslaFan!
Great picture collection on your page...
Would like to see more prototypes of the Model S in different colours... ;-)

Last thread listed in the forum so wanted to bring it to the top.
Yes, great styling!

Tropopause | 22 September, 2017

I agree. I wonder if Tesla has any immediate plans to update the S or will they choose not to mess with perfection? I guess a redesign might be needed if they intend to use 2170 cells. Lastly, Tesla might refresh the interior someday similar to the X with door pockets. Any thoughts?

Ohmster | 22 September, 2017

I hate door pockets. Just another place for things to get lost or rattle around in....or someone stuffing their trash... :)

Have to admit the body has aged well. I hope Tesla goes the way of Porsche. A 911 will always look like a 911, regardless of generation/model/year/car fads.

Tropopause | 22 September, 2017

Agree with you Ohmster, on both counts.

About freaking time someone spoke sanely
On these forums. Kudos to you ohmster

I would appreciate door pockets, but I’d be willing to do without them if we got overhead grab handles for all occupants. My elderly parents absolutely LOVE driving their Model S75D, but even though they’re still relatively spry and full ambulatory, they DO struggle stepping down into and climbing out of the car. Strategically placed door handles would be indispensable.

I read somewhere that the designer who created the gorgeous jewel-like interiors in Volvo’s latest models has lately joined the Tesla design team. Bodes well for any future interior redesigns.

I think the design is as close to iconic as you get, especially post refresh. It pleases me still, in a way similar to how I respond to a Citroen DS. (Well, Chapron convertible with the top up aside)

The neatest thing about this thread is the seven year gap between the sixth and seventh comment...

Ohmster | 23 September, 2017

@Ross9733. With my recent obsession with all things Tesla, the last word my wife would use to describe me is 'sane'. :)

Wait till she gets wind of how much time I spend here!

Run4Waffles | 23 September, 2017

@Ohmster - you might not want to let her know. It may not wear off.

The Model S has the lowest drag coefficient of any vehicle. There's no need to change that unless it improves it.

Good job reviving this old thread. Looking back look of the car indeed has contributed a lot to its success. Makes one wonder what were Nissan, BMW and GM thinking.

Ross9733 | 23 September, 2017

Just wait in three years Audi BMW and Mercedes interior will look more like tesla. Bigger screen less glitz and barely any knobs. Door pockets are where things go to die and clutter/stink up the car!!

TeslaTap.com | 23 September, 2017

@Run4Waffles - Actually I think the Model 3 nows beat the Model S! Impressive, while keeping the styling looking great on both cars

The Model 3 has a CD of 0.23 vs .the Model S at 0.24. Sort of surprising that no other automaker has beaten these with a current production car. The EV1 did have a CD of 0.21, but it looked wierd, sat only two people, and is long out of production.

Here's a real test by Car & Driver of 5 cars that might interest some: http://www.teslamotors.com/sites/default/files/blog_attachments/the-slip...

Captain_Zap | 23 September, 2017

I still love the door pockets. I love the older styling too. The 2010 Model S was a bit different from the final Model S. Its front end was a bit more aggressive looking.

Run4Waffles | 23 September, 2017

Thank you for pointing that out @TT!!! ;-)

I can now say that Tesla makes the best CD vehicleS.
