Delivery/VIN for LR RWD

Delivery/VIN for LR RWD

Hey all! Wanted to start a post to share progress as I am sure you are as excited as I am.

I thought it would be useful to share the following, feel free to add your name to the list so that we have a big resource to compare and guesstimate when we will be getting dates and VINs and our cars!

Date order placed: March 1, 2019
Configuration: Black/Black/AP
Location: Salt Lake City, UT

I have not received a VIN or delivery date. What about you??

koppel1975 | 9 March, 2019

No VIN or delivery date for me yet. I actually called the Tesla Support number on 3/7 and she said that the "within 2 weeks" statement is just an estimate and that they are telling folks that it will be anywhere from 2-6 weeks. I, however, take that with a grain of salt as I have read that people get varied responses depending upon who they speak with.

Order placed: March 1, 2019
Configuration: Black/Black
Location: Raleigh, NC

richardado | 9 March, 2019

Placed initial order Feb 22nd for White/Black AWD. Changed the order on March 1st to RWD since it was an option. Still no VIN.

Order placed: March 1, 2019
Configuration: White/Black
Location: Houston, TX

cliffordsf | 9 March, 2019

Placed am order for a silver LR with black interior on 3/3/2019. Yesterday, I added Autopilot. I asked if it would delay things and was told it wouldn't. I live about ten minutes from the Tesla factory and no Vin yet.

liamjsc | 10 March, 2019

Ordered 3/2
LR RWD, Blue/Black
Los Angeles, CA

I called today and they said the "two weeks delivery" is a best case scenario, and they are trying to get all orders filled by the end of March as a "worst case scenario". They also said they will call once a VIN is created, but I am still refreshing my account page 50x daily.

rayprime | 10 March, 2019

Ordered 3/4
LR RWD, Blue/Black/AP/FSD
Location: Jacksonville, FL

No VIN yet. Got and email from my Delivery Advisor telling me that the car is "is still being built".
Also checking my account every hour.

richmond1508 | 10 March, 2019

March is the end of the first quarter and they want their numbers to be as strong as possible so I predict that everyone will get their deliveries by the end of the month, but perhaps not much sooner than that.

Threeeee | 10 March, 2019

Ordered 3/4
Wht paint/Blk, 18” Areo Wheels, LR RWD, AP
Changed Wht paint to MSM 3/5
Changed Areo wheels to 19” option 3/7

As others, I was told these changes should not affect my order timeline.

I am curious about the actual process. I assumed these post price drop orders would be pulled from an inventory of Model 3’s. When I made the wheel change and asked how this might affect my order, the associate gave me a manufacturing scenario I hadn’t expected. They said within about three days my order hits assembly line. So after the first few days things like paint and interior change could affect delivery time. They said wheel change is easy because they can easily be swapped out. But I found this surprising because I can’t imagine someone at the end of the assembly line popping wheels on and off.

I am in Hanford CA which is 180 miles from nearest delivery location. I was told Fremont is no longer a delivery pick up location. I am opting to pick up in Santa Barbra to save the quoted 2-3 additional week from home delivery.

Curious about others experiences and knowledge of the process. Thanks

Thing2 | 10 March, 2019

@ljschauerman I am also compulsively refreshing my page. Kind of agonizing waiting having no idea when it will come. A delivery specialist emailed me saying 2-4 weeks is what they are actually expecting and that the within two weeks in the website is a best case scenario.

If that’s the case, it doesn’t make sense why they wouldn’t say the likely case scenario so they don’t have to waste so much time explaining to everyone that it won’t actually be within 2 weeks. As a business owner I try to always under promise and over delivery. Seems like a simple way to make customers happy!

I also haven’t gotten a VIN yet and keep refreshing my page to see if anything has updated. Lol. I’m so excited I can’t wait to get it.

Ordered March 9th
LR RWD Blue/Black, 18 aero, AP

NYC

JakeMacaw84 | 10 March, 2019

Man we have enough Georgia Florida guys here to start our own club!

Performance LR ordered. Started order feb 23rd, credit processing trouble kept us from ordering till the 25th. Evidently their site had trouble processing credit. Changed order from the 18 they were gonna give me in Orlando to a 19. Wife wasn’t happy that they tried to sell us an 18, albeit it had very low miles and never sold, we both really wanted a 19. Figured if we ever sold it, a 19 is more likely to have more value.

Anyways after march 1st we decided to demand a 19 because of almost being tricked into an 18. Our finance lady ran the vin and told us it wasn’t a 19. We hoped we would get the new pricing difference also, however we are locked in before price cuts. We do get FSD for free though. So it’s sort of a wash.

NO VIN!!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one sucking up the bandwidth at Tesla.com with page refreshes. I mean I even hop on at 10 pm and am like “hey they are 3 hours behind us... dang, ok yeah I didn’t really expect a vin.”

@richmond1508 makes an excellent point about Tesla most likely wanting to boost this quarters sales numbers. Maybe this will be great motivation to get us our cars!! Fingers crossed!!

jonathan.cutrell | 11 March, 2019

Order placed March 4
LR black/black FSD/AP
Delivery to GA, TN resident
No VIN

Yaks2much4u | 11 March, 2019

Has anyone heard if they are actually working on making any LR models or if they are too busy trying to get out the new SR models?

JakeMacaw84 | 11 March, 2019

Their plant is pretty modular from the videos I've seen, I would think it would be pretty easy for them to build whatever they need on the fly. They basically assemble everything the car comes with at first, later along in the assembly process throw the parts in, that makeup that particular build.

Yaks2much4u | 11 March, 2019

So I got an email this morning from my delivery specialist and she said they are expecting my car to be in by the end of the month. So hopefully she is correct and it won’t take several months. Yay!

sutrebla | 11 March, 2019

Ordered LR-RWD w/ AP on 2/28 after the announcement. Later that night changed it to SR+ w/ AP and FSD. Then on 3/4 changed it back to LR-RWD but no AP. Ordered the black/black version, nothing extra. No VIN, no email, no contact from a delivery advisor, nothing. Still waiting for any sort of contact.

Live in NJ btw.

gta18 | 12 March, 2019

Ordered LR-RWD w/ AP on 3/1, no vin no contact from tesla.

Thing2 | 12 March, 2019

Anyone receive a VIN for a LR RWD placed on or after 2/28 yet?

Kstesla17 | 12 March, 2019

Order 2/27
Order modified from MR to LR 3/5
But nothing happens so far
So-cal

TeslADM | 12 March, 2019

One more voice in the crowd of LR RWDs from Mar 1 with no VIN, no contact, nothing.

Called recently and was told they're "shooting for the end of March". They called it an "estimate" from the start, but can't help feeling lied to after getting so used to places like Amazon giving spot on delivery dates every time.

Thing2 | 12 March, 2019

By the sounds of it, no one that ordered a LR RWD has received anything so far. Which makes the "within 2 weeks" completely "misguided" at best. On a different forum I was reading, several people have called and it seems like even the reps have no idea what is going on.

I just wish there was a way to know what is actually going on with our orders. I doubt many people would decide not to buy or cancel their order just because the wait time was longer, I just think people would like to know what to expect.

M3G | 12 March, 2019

Ordered 3/4/19 LR RWD FSD Gray/Black still no VIN.

IPOG.ECOM | 12 March, 2019

Ordered 3/7
LR RWD, Red/Black
Location: GA
No VIN yet

Dravize | 12 March, 2019

Looks like SR/SR+ are being delivered and the Performance models delivery texts are coming through, LW RWD looks like it might be next up on the list, or MR...who knows at this point

Yaks2much4u | 13 March, 2019

I think the only people getting VIN's right now on the LR RWD are if there is a 2018 leftover in their area they are trying to get rid of.

fdpedroza | 13 March, 2019

Ordered LR RWD 2/28.

Spoke to my "delivery specialist" last week and then again yesterday. He said it's still in production and that we are really 2-3 weeks away (from yesterday 3/12) for delivery.

Based on everything I've been reading and talking to my own rep, the advertised within 2 weeks for LR RWD has to be a lie.

2 and 3 weeks from yesterday will put us at 3.5 and 4.5 weeks from order date respectively. I honestly don't think I'll even get it before April. I mean I hope I do but with the lack of communication from my rep, ( I have to chase him down to get some answers since he never answers his phone or emails), and everything I've been reading on forums; April is a more hopeful and realistic goal.

IPOG.ECOM | 13 March, 2019

I understand that Tesla without a doubt is making one of the best ever EVs but posting a 2 weeks delivery time frame and not keeping up those promises does not look good at all. Either keep up with what is being advertised or don't mention it on the website. NOT GOOD :(

Threeeee | 13 March, 2019

Ordered 3/4 LR RWD

2019 VIN

Delivery scheduled 3/17
Just under my 2 week estimate

WOOP WOOP

liamjsc | 13 March, 2019

@threeeee do you have any addons like paint, FSD, tire changes? you are the first LR RWD order after 2/28 i've seen to receive a 2019 vin :)

cookekevin | 13 March, 2019

@threeeee where do you live at?

sbeggs | 13 March, 2019

@Threeeee,
What are last six digits of your VIN?

ncgator | 13 March, 2019

Just got my text and the VIN is showing in my account! 3/20 home delivery in Raleigh, NC. LR RWD Midnight Silver, Sport Wheels, White Interior, Autopilot. How do I know based on the VIN number if it’s 2019?

cookekevin | 13 March, 2019

@ncgator when did you order

Thing2 | 13 March, 2019

So glad some of you are receiving VINs and delivery dates! That means hopefully it will be soon for us all :)

liamjsc | 13 March, 2019

@ncgator the 10th digit
J is 2018
K is 2019

Yaks2much4u | 13 March, 2019

Was just on the Tesla motor club forum and 3 people posted that they received texts or calls about delivery. They said they are 2019’s so I guess they’re starting to get them out. All 3 are in California so maybe since they are so close to the factory they get them first?

koppel1975 | 13 March, 2019

I'm also in Raleigh, if they have a shipment heading this way, fingers crossed that I'll get a call/text soon!

Someone on the other forum started this spreadsheet so everyone can see what is being order.

Threeeee | 13 March, 2019

@liamjsc MSM paint, 19” Wheels and AP. No tire upgrade or FSD. I know, feeling lucky. I honestly didn’t expect to hear anything until April.

@cookekevin CA near Fresno.

ncgator | 13 March, 2019

I ordered on March 3rd and the 10th digit is a “K”, so maybe they just did a run of LR RWD after the first batch of the SR / SR+. Very excited! While not quite within the 2 week window, much closer than I was expecting.

Obstacle | 13 March, 2019

Just wanted to bump it up 16 pages past all the Chinese spam.

k2012 | 14 March, 2019

Im hoping the MR is coming up next im on day 7 of waiting for the VIN. My car got totaled the day I ordered the MR so one could say im anxiously waiting hahah

jonathan.cutrell | 14 March, 2019

@obstacle I’m also getting LR black/black in Atlanta, ordered on 3/4. No VIN yet for me. I have FSD added - maybe that’s a delaying factor.
