any one charged with a Leaf or Ford Focus EV home charger.

I already have a Ford Focus EV charger in my garage (40 amp system) with a J1772 adapter. It used to charge my Ford Focus EV from zero to full in about 3.5 hours (24 kWh).

Has anyone specifically charged a Tesla Model S with one of these chargers? Does anyone anticipate any problems with this setup?

thanks in advance.

AFAIK it should work. :-)

We've got a few chargers at work that put out 40a and are J1772 plugs. There are two leafs, a focus and three Teslas that charge there with no problem. Granted one of them keeps tripping, but we think it's just a problem with the charger itself. You just have to set your charge to pull in 30a and it should be fine.

I have a Leaf and my wife has the Tesla...yes, it works fine. The Leaf charges at 30 amps. Make certain you have the adapter (I went a week without one...).

Yes, I charged my Model S with the Aerovironment charger for the LEAF. The LEAF charges at 20A (a brief spike to 30A), but the Model S will draw the full 30A from it.

The only problem you will have is manually switching between the two cars.

@jat - thanks for the clarification about the amp charge on the Leaf. The Tesla does draw 30 amps from the Aerovironment and I assumed that is what the Leaf was drawing. We've been using one charger for 2 cars for about a month now...Since I walk to work, it hasn't been an issue.
