Please be aware tesla.com Estimated Delivery: 2-4 weeks is not accurate.
I don't know why they show it on their site. They should take it off before new customers complain.

Ordered mine 8/18/19 - LR AWD MSM with Black interior 19" wheels FSD. No vin no communication or updates at all so far. Not buying that the backlog is only white paint models

notify_craig | August 31, 2019

Here in Vancouver, BC, I order Aug 1, LR MSM exterior and white interior, 18", added FSD when I heard about Aug 16 price hike (which hasn't happened yet?). Estimate was 2wks. Haven't heard a peep. Keep checking the HTML for a VIN--nothing.

I totally agree with the person who asked for realism and communication. It's not the wait that's so annoying but the unrealistic expectation and the lack of communication. Ideally, we get regular updates but anything is better than nothing.

mike | August 31, 2019

I ordered a M3P+ a few days ago. My current lease car goes back 11/10 latest, so if it’s a month to 6 weeks, fine by me. Seems most on other forums are 4-6 weeks out, at least for performance models.

korban.hadley | September 1, 2019

Ordered my black on black LR AWD on 8/18/19. In waited a week land heard nothing. I called Tesla many times and left 4 messages. Each time they said I would be called back on 24 hours. In waited 4 days then I got a text that it could take 2 to 4 wood longer and I need to submit my insurance information. I replied and said I need vin to do that but I have had no more responses. I don't mind waiting but this lack of communication is very unprofessional. When I call all I get is a voicemail. Answer your phone. I'm sure if I called to place another order they would be happy to answer.

jrweiss98020 | September 1, 2019

Still waiting... White LR AWD: Order 8/3, completed paperwork 8/6. 8/23 got a text saying 3-4 weeks more...

donny1975 | September 2, 2019

I am feeling bad for all the long wait times posted out here for received t orders that is...wondering why my experience was so disparate? I ordered on 8/24/19...SR+ with FSD and picked her up 8/30/19. On the east coast picked up in NJ. The experience has been great frankly.

donny1975 | September 2, 2019

received t = recent

DiemTesla | September 2, 2019

I walked in on a Saturday morning to my local Dealership, and 30min later I was heading out the door to go pickup my M3 at the Tampa Delivery Center same day. Best car buying experience Ive ever had

GOOCHY | September 2, 2019

8/5 order of a M3P+ MSM/Black with no VIN and no communication. My sales rep hasn't responded to my follow up regarding the time frame. Not a good look to a new buyer.

Tesla - here's some advice - under promise and over deliver. Post that it's 6-8 weeks on the site and when you deliver in two you'll look like heroes. On the other hand, when you say that it's two weeks and it's really a month you don't look so great.

ReD eXiLe ms us | September 2, 2019

Yeah...

es•ti•mate ● verb /ˈestəˌmāt/
-- roughly calculate or judge the value, number, quantity, or extent of.

ac•cu•rate ● adjective /ˈakyərət/
-- 1. (of information, measurements, statistics, etc.) correct in all details; exact.
-- 2. (with reference to a weapon, missile, or shot) capable of or successful in reaching the intended target.

So, pretty much completely opposite terms. Non Sequitur.

korban.hadley | September 2, 2019

From what I am reading from most people is not how long it takes. I personally an willing to wait if someone would have reached out to me. The problem is the lack of communication. Calling times leaving a message with a recording that days I will be contacted on 24 hours with no response for days. That is the problem I see with all the people looking for answers on this thread.

mike | September 3, 2019

I ordered mine on, Aug 23, and picked it up Aug 29. It was originally scheduled for Sept 3, but it was ready early. I got Blue exterior and B&W interior upgrades (standard range plus), so it wasn't 100% standard/freebie model. I did receive a text about rescheduling the early delivery, but no one actually contacted me after I replied that I wanted to do the early pickup. I had to call the dealership and reschedule that way.

I'm in Las Vegas, if that matters (no idea if certain markets have a faster delivery rate).

camtraina3 | September 4, 2019

Well I canceled my original order I placed on 8/22 as I found the same configuration car with the upgrades on the used section last night with 200 miles on it and 3k cheaper. Frankly the rep called me saying that they too are in the dark on the exact reasons to the delays. Said that Tesla is manufacturing the model 3 weekly for regions. Such as Australia week 1 of the month, US has week 4 of the month. Thinks that’s what the delay is since Australia came in the fold a few weeks ago. Best of luck guys and don’t be afraid to bug your rep. They get paid based on you buying a car from them- even if you ordered online!

adamjthomp | September 6, 2019

Did everyone else get their car? I ordered mine on 7/30 M3P white on white and am still patiently waiting!

mathcr49 | September 6, 2019

Still waiting, ordered white with black interior performance model 8/14 in Florida, no vin yet.

Morseth | September 6, 2019

Ordered a M3P, Deep Blue, Black/White Interior, FSD on 7/27/19, located in the Philadelphia PA area. No official texts or emails regarding progress and no indication of a VIN assignment yet.

stevec | September 6, 2019

Ordered M3P, White, White, FSD on 7/29/19, live in Utah. I got a text on 8/24/19 that states I should expect another 5-6 weeks before delivery. So we could be looking at 10 weeks total on a 2-week estimate.

radean84 | September 6, 2019

I sold two cars to be able to pay cash for the Tesla and tomorrow is my 2 week mark with no update, text, email, or any other type of notification. Luckily I do have other vehicles or I would be in quite a pickle. Hopefully it won't be much longer before I see some sort of update.

adamjthomp | September 6, 2019

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. No VIN assignment either, patiently waiting here in lovely MN!

SA-Rugby9 | September 6, 2019

I am not sure if this has been covered on this thread or others, but I wanted to share my experience to show that there is hope. I put a deposit down on M3 LR Dual Motor in MS with black interior and 18" wheels on 8/30. I hadn't heard anything since then. This morning I was looking at current online inventory for the LR Dual Motor and found the exact car I ordered (all the options were the same) available at a dealership 300 miles away. I called my sales guy and he immediately assigned the VIN to my order. I went to my Tesla account and completed the trade in valuation and financing details and within 2 hours I got a text saying my M3 would be ready for pickup on 9/16. My advise is to check around at other dealerships within 500 miles and if you see a car that you like, you could do what I did. It works for some but probably not most.

SA-Rugby9 | September 6, 2019

I forgot to mention Tesla transfer the vehicle from NY to central VA without any costs.

ToansModel3 | September 6, 2019

Well , my charging station aka wall installed, solar panel installed. All I'm missing is the Model 3. So sad. Really shocked that the solar panel is done before the car. I heard solar panel can take up to 3 to 4 months but Tesla was really fast with this.

Morseth | September 8, 2019

Ordered a M3P, Deep Blue, Black/White Interior, FSD on 7/27/19, located in the Philadelphia PA area. Just received a text today saying it's in transit and to schedule my delivery appointment. Sept 17th was the first available date. Looks like we're getting close!

gary | September 8, 2019

On August 19, 2019. I ordered a Long Range white exterior/black interior Model 3 with FSD and 18 inch wheels. Tomorrow, September 9, will be the exact *3 week* mark, and I haven't heard a peep. No VIN, no text, no email. Still says "estimated delivery within 2 weeks".

frnch | September 8, 2019

Mine was delivered in three weeks last May. Vancouver, BC

ToansModel3 | September 8, 2019

@Gary, I ordered mine on August 12, finally got a text yesterday saying delivery date is September 19th.

M3BlueGeorgia | September 8, 2019

Since the financial quarter ends at the end of September, we can pretty much guarantee that Tesla will make a very serious attempt to ship every order before the end of the month.

So if you want a September delivery, get your order placed ASAP. :-)

adamjthomp | September 8, 2019

I ordered my Model 3 Performance white on white on 7/30. Received a text this morning that its in transit to MN and scheduled my delivery for Friday the 13th....scary! All in all it will be 6 weeks and 3 days from date of order if nothing changes. Excited!

Lonestar10_1999 | September 8, 2019

Do NOT pick up your car on Friday the 13th.....especially if your delivery specialist is named Jason.

ReD eXiLe ms us | September 8, 2019

Lonestar10_1999: What if his name is Freddie or Michael...? A few of my Birthdays were on Saturday the 14th and things were just fine...

korban.hadley | September 10, 2019

So you are saying if they contacted you and said Jason your delivery specialist will help you on Friday the 13th you would say no another day? I will show up no matter what to get that car.

Switchmon | September 10, 2019

I originally ordered mine custom and waited for a week and saw the same configuration, color, just missing full self driving in their inventory. Had them cancel my order, went with the inventory, had them upgrade it to FSD and had my car in less than two weeks. Don't feel locked into your decision just because you configured it custom - some dealerships have a good amount of new inventory.

MastarJYK | September 10, 2019

I hope this will be helpful information for those of who has been waiting for the VIN numbers, because I also has been looking on this post every single day and hoping to get some information about car production.

I ordered Long Range AWD White/Black 19' Wheels on August 25.
I received a text from Tesla regarding on delivery dates on September 9.
I will be picking up my vehicle on September 11 at Tesla Rocklin-Roseville.

jrweiss98020 | September 11, 2019

Sales rep texted me last week and said Tesla promised all current back orders will be delivered by the end of September.

chudley78 | September 11, 2019

they had the model and trim I was looking for at the delivery center, test drove in the morning took my car home that afternoon. they did struggle to do a sale in one day but got it done nonetheless

lmorda2 | September 11, 2019

This was a huge problem for me, I purchased my car hoping for the 2-4 weeks after being pressured by a tweet that the price of my model was going up. Two days later I get a text saying my car is ready. I had to trade in my car, get a loan, and interview for a new job in like a day. Wtf

gary | September 11, 2019

3 weeks and 2 days ago, on August 19, 2019, I ordered a Long Range white exterior/black interior Model 3 with FSD and 18 inch wheels. As of today, September 11th, no VIN, no text, no email. NOTHING. Still says "estimated delivery within 2 weeks".

supertanker | September 11, 2019

I ordered a Model 3 (Long Range, blue paint, black interior) on September 6, so I'm not getting antsy yet about not getting a VIN. The sales rep told me at the time that the white exterior was on backorder (I guess it is a lot more popular than the previous default black paint) so I'd probably get my car more quickly since I ordered blue paint. He also said September is a particularly busy month for Tesla, so even though the website will show an estimated delivery within two weeks, it was more likely to be 3-4 weeks.

toriny14 | September 11, 2019

@Gary I'm with you; I have the same configuration except without FSD, and I ordered August 24. It does make sense that Tesla would deliver all back orders by the end of this month due to the end of the financial quarter coming up. Stay strong!!

gary | September 11, 2019

I just think they should have been honest and said "approximately 4 weeks" so people can plan better

pdxgolfnut | September 12, 2019

Ordered my M3 (Pearl White, AWD, 18" wheels, premium black interior, no FSD) on August 7th in Portland, Oregon. Got the dreaded text a couple of weeks ago "it will be 3 to 4 weeks more". Just got the text today I can schedule delivery. But....I have no VIN number yet. Based on Tesla's previous actions, I don't believe the delivery is going to happen. I think they are just doing it to give me hope...
I am so excited for the car, but am dreading having to deal with Tesla and their customer service for the next few years.

korban.hadley | September 12, 2019

So I got tired of my 3.5 week wait for my color combination. I went online and found one available at my local dealer Blue with white interior. I really wanted the LR AWD option and not super picky about the color. I had my my local dealer match me to the Vin and I pick the car up tomorrow.

jrweiss98020 | September 12, 2019

pdxgolfnut, How did you get yours before I get mine? I ordered the same car in Seattle Aug 3, and still no word!

radean84 | September 12, 2019

My red SR+ was delivered 2 days after my 2 week ETA in Northern California. I didn't hear anything until exactly 2 weeks from ordering. Got a text Saturday saying in transit, ready to schedule delivery. Scheduled delivery for Tuesday. Delivery was quick and easy because I did the payment online prior to delivery. Pretty much in and out unless you want them to go over all the features. I was already familiar.

guyvii7 | September 12, 2019

Ordered my Car (AWD Long range, white exterior) on 1 Sept. I have not received a VIN yet. It has only been 12 days, I guess I will wait the full 2 weeks to see if they have started building it yet. You get a VIN when they start building it, correct? Investigated for 4 months and now I am ready for the car now. LOL. Americans and our need for instant gratification. Living the Dream. I will keep logging in and checking.

Janice.ribeiro | September 12, 2019

@pdxgolfnut. Mine took 3 weeks to get delivered to my house. They called me the day they were delivering it and gave me 2 hours notice! A day or 2 before would have been nice.

jay | September 12, 2019

I ordered my LRAWD w/FSD on Tuesday night (9/10). I received my VIN today and have a delivery appt. showing, but it shows 1am on a Saturday (Sept 28th) so I assume it's a placeholder. I'm guessing the fact that I completed all documentation, my trade was paid off, and I wired the funds already may have something to do with the turnaround. Just hoping it gets on a truck soon as it has to get halfway across the country for me to start enjoying it.

4 weeks ago (exactly), on August 19, 2019, I ordered a Long Range white exterior/black interior Model 3 with FSD and 18 inch wheels. As of today, September 16th, I have no VIN. I did get a text two days ago on September 14 though saying “Tesla Update We expect to deliver your Model 3 in the next two weeks and will update you when your delivery appointment is ready to be scheduled.” The looong wait continues. Anyone else waiting this long for a similarly equipped car? I’m in Los Angeles.

@Gary I ordered on the 23rd with the same configuration without FSD and I received the “We expect to deliver... in the next two weeks” text on 9/14 and the “Your model 3 will be exiting the factory in the next few days” text on 9/16. Tesla is working hard to deliver any back orders by the end of this month, so you’re almost guaranteed to take delivery before October 1. Hang in there!
