Since I never read anything in the users manual about the 12 volt battery, I had no clue the Roadster had one until my car doors wouldn't open electronically. Once I was in the car and turned it on, there was a warning about the 12 volt battery. After a call to the nearest Tesla service department, they came to my house to replace it under warrantee. It's in the right, front wheel well and is a commercial motorcycle battery that operates various accessories. Next time you say there are 6831 battery cells in the Roadster, qualify it with lithium ion so you won't be wrong.
