two weeks since i confirmed my P85+, still nothing

i just called the hotline, they said they will start building sometime next week. take about a week to build. then will take another week to ship out here to nj.

geez, the wait is killing me!

lolachampcar | July 9, 2013

Waited a year for the first one.
Confirmed early June for its replacement (P85+)
It's due in next week.
I prefer the wait this time :)

cfOH | July 9, 2013

@lola: Have you gotten a "firm" delivery date yet, or still just a range of possible dates? If a firm date, how long after your order was finalized did you receive the date?

eddiemoy | July 9, 2013

no firm date yet, they said call back next week when it is in production. then they can give firm date. think last weeks factor off had something to do with the delay.

brandtlings | July 9, 2013

confirmed 5/15
Production notice (email) 6/8
Docusign/paperwork 6/10
email from delivery specialist 6/10
Phone call from DS June 21 (beginning date of delivery window to set up delivery)
Delivered as arranged on July 2 at my home.

Exemplary experience, truck driver was very knowledgeable about the car.

At no time did I call or email Tesla during this process, didn't see any need. Although I was very deep into the anticipation and ready to have it!

kback | July 9, 2013

Patience, patience...

Easier said than done. I checked website and app daily until mine was delivered. Long, tough wait, but it will all be worth it. We've all been there, some longer than others. Hang in there!

bobinfla | July 9, 2013

@lolachampcar - Ordered in June and getting in mid-July? Don't you feel like you're missing out on part of the delivery experience this time? Without a year's worth of anticipation and buildup, it's kind of like just buying a car. Now where's the fun in that?

ramtaz | July 9, 2013

I waited three years , others even more! Enjoy your quick delivery !!

JohhnyS | July 9, 2013

We feel sooo sorry for you. We waited a year and a half which included many surprises along the way. Some people waited a lot longer than us!

cfOH | July 9, 2013

Obligatory: "I've waited my whole LIFE for this car!"

lolachampcar | July 10, 2013

I got the end of line date about two weeks ago and already know the shipping time. The date was confirmed last week.

Obviously I have not matured one little bit since the first wait. I posted above because i feel the OP's pain. I thought, hey, no big deal. I'll get it in a couple of months and I can live without MS for a few months if I can get the P+. Yea, I can but I've felt like a cross between Groundhog Day and a kid on Christmas Eve :)

One more week.

cloroxbb | July 10, 2013

Haha could you imagine it being the day before you take delivery and then having the "groundhog day" premise happen to you? Haha that would suck...

jonlivesay | July 10, 2013

Worth every minute of wait! All anxiety from waiting is erased with first drive of YOUR car! Enjoyment coming soon!

Colasec | July 10, 2013

My DS got in touch with me today for the first time. He asked for a scan of my driver license and proof of insurance, made sure I was set for charging at home (yes) and financing (no - Tesla team is taking a while to get back to me), and.... scheduled a tentative delivery for Tuesday July 23rd at the Costa Mesa service center! There's a small chance my car might be ready earlier, at the end of next week.

- reserved 6/14
- finalized 6/16
- VIN 6/17 (1550x)
- delivery button 6/26 (delivery window 7/18 - 8/1)
- DS contact and delivery scheduled 7/10
- estimated delivery 7/23

Although it has been very tough to wait, it will have taken less time than I thought. I was hoping for 2-3 months, so five and a half weeks is great.

What's not so great is that I leave immediately (the 26th) to be out of town for a week, so she'll just have to wait patiently in my garage until I get back. :)

SevenOfNine | July 10, 2013

Hey guys. My Model S order was finalized 7/2 and I got my VIN on 7/3. I pushed the "Delivery" button on 7/8 with a delivery window of 7/30-8/13. However, my Dashboard still says "Status: Your Model S order has been confirmed". Will my dashboard change to some other status indicating the car is actively being built?

Colasec | July 10, 2013

@SevenOfNine Nope, afaik. Your next sign is a call from your DS in probably 1.5 - 2 weeks.

Brian H | July 11, 2013

You can call and "waive" the 2 week changes-allowed period, AFAIK. 7/14-7/28?

J.T. | July 11, 2013

It will say confirmed until after delivery.

ironmikeii | July 11, 2013

I'm in the same boat here, ordered my P85+ on 7/2,waived the 2 week change period, got confirm and vin # on 7/3 and haven't heard anything since. I also haven't heard from Solar City regarding the instillation of my home charger, which is making me a little nervous. All said,if the car comes in before September I will be happy.

lolachampcar | July 11, 2013

Ok, the race is on......

eplaza | July 11, 2013

For those of you who have indicated your dashboard still reads order confirmed, where are you getting the information on Vin numbers and delivery date? My order was confirmed on 7/2 with no updates as yet.

Anonymous | July 11, 2013
eplaza | July 11, 2013

What I see there is what I have seen since July 2nd merely your order has been confirmed.

Anonymous | July 11, 2013

Your reservation number will be replaced by the VIN number whenever they "batch" your car.

ryankearny | July 11, 2013

5/13 Ordered Tesla P85 with most options online
5/20 Email from Brenton (Sales Avidsor) with details on resale value
5/23 Email from Tesla Corporate that they are ready to build, and build would start 5/26 and deposit would be non-refundable
5/25 Email from Tesla about models s almost here, and start filling out delivery details via online form
5/27 Email from Tesla that says car went into production, order confirmation number
5/29 Email from Tesla with Delivery window being Jun 21st - July 5th
7/8: I emailed and called Tesla since no correspondence since May, and was now outside the delivery window.
7/8: Delivery specialist called back and said delivery was delayed because of end of quarter inspectors not available, and they had apparently also delayed my delivery (without telling me) because i was out of town on vacation toward end of June.

Because I have already sold my previous car, and becasue of the delay, I asked if the P85 could be delivered to my house. Delivery specialist said that Tesla does not do that anymore, but they would pay the taxi fair for me to come to Bellevue by taxi. I envy the folks in the recent past that actually got their new cars delivered to their home!

7/10: Delivery specialist confirms that car should be in Seattle and ready for pickup next week on 7/15.

Net Net: Even though delivery window was 6/15-7/5, I'll still be happy if the car actually does make it here on 7/15. I wish they would deliver, but I guess Tesla is getting to big to continue to offer services like that. I chalk up some of the lack of communication in delivery delays to just growing pains inside the company. Besides delivery snafu, all of the sales folks in Seattle/Bellevue were awesome to work with.

And, waiting a few months, even with delay is way better than waiting a year!

Also, even now, the webpage only says that my order has been confirmed... nothing more.

Mathew98 | July 11, 2013

@ryankearny - I ordered mine on 5/10 and finalized on 5/11 (waived 2 weeks of waiting). Got my VIN# within 2 days and picked up the car in NJ on 6/15. The status will stay as confirmed until the car is delivered.

Even though we placed our order two days apart, mine was delivered a month earlier than your.

For those impatient drivers such as myself, please call Tesla and waive the two weeks (for options changing). You'll end up getting that silly grin muuuuch faster. Now let's not try to floor it every chance you get (like I do)...

Bighorn | July 11, 2013

Ordered and finalized June 20--just got an email and phone call today, so three weeks to the day before I received details from a DS.
