Can't Afford a Tesla!

Can't Afford a Tesla!

I am a Leaf owner of 2 years now. My household income is well over $200k between my wife and I (And my mortgage is only $1600 with no debt). However I still feel priced out of a Model S. There is nothing more that I would love than to be able to afford a Tesla but they need a model that one can afford. Not just the "wealthy". What about people like me the "well offs". I can spend $30K-$40k on a car no problem... $80k... no thanks.

You don't need a Model S; you need help managing money. Manage money well for a few years and then the Model S purchase will be easy.

The other component to affordability is the length of the commute and the money saved by an all electric vehicle vs an internal combustion engine. To whit, because of my out-of-the-ordinary daily commute of 200+ miles round trip, my energy savings per month erases my Tesla car payment. However, that said, Mr Bohnert, and other "well offs" should certainly be able to look forward to a Tesla in the future that has a lower price point. Other manufacturers will likely have similar platforms to offer in not so may years from now. Many more of us shall be enjoying Tesla or Tesla-esque vehicles in not so long...

Why don't you buy a used one. There are plenty for sale online at Ebay Motors and Autotrader, and you can get one for 10,000 to 30,000 dollars less than msrp.
