I just got confirmation of my order and deposit, but I cannot decipher the reservation number : RN692266

RN number is useless for deciphering :)

Res #7,767
Hopefully still low enough to take delivery in 2015!

4GETGAS | February 7, 2014

Any correspondence about expected Sig deliveries?

Brian H | February 7, 2014

Wait for your VIN; the last 5 digits are a serial #. The RN is internal use only, possibly a random ID#.

gerardP | February 8, 2014

Thank you for your comforting words ;-),

@ Brian H

Thank you for the info, any idea how long it may take to have a VIN?

ian | February 8, 2014

@gerard - If the X is the same as the S then you'll get a VIN when the car enters production. Don't expect one anytime soon. The X is probably about 10 months away from production starting for the US. Belgium will probably be a few months after that.

Mylo | February 9, 2014

European P# 1475. Finally joining the rest of the Norwegian Battalion. First new car purchase ever. Bring on the X!!

Napoleonblownapart | February 9, 2014

Just ordered one 5 minutes ago. Sequence number 7838

Roamer@AZ USA | February 11, 2014

What company sells 10,000 cars with hard money deposits before the actual production model can even be seen and deliveries are at least a year away. This is truly extraordinary.

All I can say is WoW. And glad I got my orders in when I did.

Alex K | February 11, 2014

@ Roamer | FEBRUARY 11, 2014: All I can say is WoW. And glad I got my orders in when I did.

Did you day orders? How many have you ordered?

gerardP | February 12, 2014

Interesting, I discussed with the staff in Belgium and they confirmed a VIN number would only be given at beginning of construction. So, what is reported here by other people?
On my opening page under the RN number also appears another number, in my case 1499 (I ordred a P model), does this number have anything to see with a sequential number?

Tâm | February 12, 2014

That's a very good and common question that has been repeated many times.

RN is just like an Account Number. When you pay your bill, you need to mention the RN# so they can credit it correctly.

ian | February 12, 2014

Yes. I believe the second number is a sequence number. Although, with the S some cars were delivered out of sequence because they produce cars in batches with similar options. For instance, they produced mostly 85kW cars with air suspension at first. The 60kW cars came a few months later.

Auto P85 | February 13, 2014

It looks like they are receiving about 450 orders per month right now because I ordered mine on January 10, 2014 in California and our number was 7,367 and above there is one from Feb. 11 and the number is 7,838. Which is 471 in just over a month (1 day). So that makes about 15 orders per day (471/32 days) or making it ~450 per month.

NumberOne | February 14, 2014

With over 10,000 reservations already, including the EU and Canada, 450 per month would indicate at least another 11,000 reservations by the time deliveries begin. More than 10,000 reservations before the Beta is even available to look at! Over 21,000 before the end of the year. Reservations should ramp up once a beta version of the car has been released. I believe that pre-production Model X reservations has already surpassed the pre-production reservations of Model S.

Tesla has only produced 30,000 or so Model S vehicles, so this is quite significant. It would seem that Tesla has greater demand for Model S than their current production capacity of 550/wk although production is ramping up quite rapidly. Tesla is making history, and we are part of it!

Roamer@AZ USA | February 14, 2014

@ Alex K. I ordered two Sigs and one regular. I am the order manager for the family so they are not all for me. I am hoping the X will be even better than the current S. We have two S's and absolutely love driving them. The big decision will be who gets the S's and who gets the X's. Two Nissan Leafs will head to the used car market when the X's deliver. Range anxiety will be cured in our world.

Brian H | February 14, 2014

There are three #s associated with each order/car. The reservation # is no longer used in the US for the MS, though it is for the MX.
The R/N is for internal use only, like a hash #, and contains no useful info.
The VIN relates to a car whose production has been "committed", even if it has not been physically begun. It is, by law, stamped onto the frame before painting, e.g. It may or may not be communicated when first generated, TM's systems and practice have varied widely on that.

just upgraded to X Sig for my wife.

#1208 on Feb 17,2014.

I thought they stop the Signature at 1200?

Maybe not.

grundler | February 18, 2014

They should halt US X Sig reservations around 1200 cars. However, there have been a number of people who have reserved a signature car, and then changed their reservation. So, even though you have #1208, there are less than 1207 cars before you.

jcuppconsult | February 20, 2014

Scored! P 8,000 USA 2/20/14..Now the waiting game begins.

michael.zirpolo | February 20, 2014

Late addition... I put down a deposit on the X for my wife for Christmas. Got a bunch of swag and wrapped them all individually. Even after the 7th Tesla gift being the letter she didn't believe that she had reservation #7004. Delivery hopefully Xmas 2014 in Suffolk Virginia.

ian | February 20, 2014

Yeah. That delivery date isn't happening. I'm thinking you'll be lucky to get it by July 4th 2015.

Cool gift and extra cool way to surprise her with it!

Triciawade123456 | February 21, 2014

Oh man! you guys are bumming me out!!! I am S- 597, was so hoping to get it by the end of the year!!
Another year in my X5 is now torture!!! LOL!!!

AlMc | February 21, 2014

It may have already been stated but many of the Sig reservations also have production reservations. Reason: if you decide the 'loaded Sig' has things you do not want then you drop to production and use your deposit towards the 'P'. Unfortunately, if you decline the 'sig' you do NOT go to the first in line for a 'P'. So, if you want your X before 2016 you reserve in both "sig' and 'P'. Not sure how many people have done this but at least several that I know.

weasel314 | February 21, 2014

Just ordered #8036 for my wife! She asked why I wasn't getting her a signature model like my MS and I couldn't come up with a good reason other than I'm not ready to drop another $35K for the reservation right now.
