Vanity Plates?

Vanity Plates?

Hey folks,
I'm a first-time poster, but a long-time lurker.

I just ordered vanity plates for my Sig and thought I'd start a thread to see what other folks have gotten.
After much deliberation, I got "HC FREE" (California).

I've never had vanity plates before, but as an early adopter, I'm voting with my dollar (ok, many dollars). I want to spread the word for Tesla and electric cars in general, and I figure a vanity plate is a good way to introduce the driving public to an option they may not be aware of. "Hey, that there Aston-Martin is hydrocarbon free! - oh wait, what's a Tesla?"

- Dean

PS: I tried to get "AC 4 ME" but that became unavailable while I was in the process of checking out. If whoever got that is on this forum, you would have missed out if you were a minute slower ;)

My Prius has LES GAS on it. My S has GAS LES.

sidney_wang | January 2, 2013

I registered "ZAP CO2" in ca.

GLarwill | January 2, 2013

TSLA (heart)R

(california kids plate, permits you to use symbols like a heart.)

We just ordered

to take advantage of the double meaning for our Model S. (eye doc who wants to help the environment)

Also I just ordered my vanity plate

TESLA X in anticipation of getting my car in 2014!

Also we ordered a plate frame for the Model S,

Warning Vehicle Contains Warp Core

Just got my regular CA plates. Now I can go exchange them for the vanity plates that I reserved 2 months ago and are now waiting at the local DMV for me.

BYT | January 4, 2013

I went simple and not too creative, mine will be "BYT" and DMV said it may take 3 months to get (went in on Tuesday to order them).

RedShift | January 4, 2013

Ordered just now, for my blue/grey Tesla, due to arrive in 3 months or less:

California plates.

xenogeek | January 4, 2013

@Jim2855: how long did it take from delivery to getting your plates?

prash.saka | January 4, 2013

+1 Shannon. I like both the plates.

michael.delune | January 4, 2013

I just ordered ROFL GAS in California (a twist on LOL GAS which I've seen on a Roadster). Here were the others on my short list, none of which were taken yet in Cali as of the drafting of this post:

PLG+PLY (using childrens plate)

ViewAskew | January 4, 2013

Waiting for the plate to be delivered but I ended up with ELCTRFI.

joepruitt | January 4, 2013

Mine just got approved for KCK-GAS in WA.

smd | January 5, 2013

Fremont factory delivery on 12/15. Tesla FedExed my CA plates to me on 12/28.

Shelmire | January 5, 2013

A Dallas Morning News reporter just called me to ask if I would let him take a picture of my two cars side by side. As I wrote above..

Prius plate say LES GAS
Model S Plate Says GAS LES

but alas my S has not been delivered yet and the new plates are sitting on the kitchen table.

I asked him to call me back in a month!

txjak | January 5, 2013

Since the kWh consumed by my Model S will be less than the kWh produced by my solar PV system.

kalel65 | January 5, 2013

How about 1.21GW ?

Or maybe save that for the DeLorean electric

Brian H | January 5, 2013

Yeah, several have the jiggawatts plates.

prash.saka | January 6, 2013

Massachusetts has special EV plates where the first two letter are EV. I am thinking something like EV OLVE, EV LOVE, EV KIWI, or EV IL :). Any other suggestions?

~ Prash.

lightly | January 6, 2013

@ kalel65
I already have that in NY. Currently on my Prius waiting for the MS next month.

joey | January 6, 2013

maybe voltswagon

Here's a new twist on vanity plate names - not so technical as most of the posts relate t...but will certainly give some a smile and it also relates to electric. I just reserved mine in NY - FRNKNSTN. I was thinking about ITS ALVE but figured FRNKNSTN is more straight forward.

Here's a thought for all the women owners: IHVETMS.

Here are a few more that I was thinking about (too much time on my hands you say! - lol)

TTLYAMPD (if your state allows 8 letters)
S 4 US
SILVRCLD - for silver color of course.

prash.saka | January 7, 2013

@Brian, EV OKE looks promising. Thanks for suggesting.

Epley | January 7, 2013

Wanted to get KCKGAS, but couldn't bring myself to do it--it's available in WA...

ColonyGolfer | January 7, 2013

Got my plate Thursday in Florida TEZLA. I had it put on the "support law enforcement" special plate because it color matches the signature red car. Those FL plates in off-white and green just don't make it. Who knows, it may save me the sure-to-come speeding ticket.

mferron | January 8, 2013

I went with NO CARBN (California plates). My Tesla is powered by 100% renewable electricity.

Mel. | January 9, 2013

Dvclifford, how about the St. John River plate?

Duane | January 12, 2013

I live in the UK where, unfortunately, custom plate options are *very* limited due to mandatory plate formatting. If in the US, I would have got:

(As in the Brit expression "Sod off!" with a tip of the cap to the oil-producing Saudis).

Just bought CA: 1WBPMSQ

Just arcane enough to look random. Stands for "One Weber Per Meter Squared" which is a magnetic flux density of one Tesla.

Velo1 | January 13, 2013

I applied for KICKGAS in CO, but it was denied as "potentially offensive". I reapplied for KCK GAS and it's been 3 weeks and no word yet.

Brian H | January 15, 2013

That's, "Kiss My Green", in case you were wondering.

Mark15 | January 16, 2013

For me!

joepruitt | January 16, 2013

@Epley, I just received KCK GAS in Seattle for my Sig-red. I'm surprised its still showing as available in WA as it was approved about a month ago. I would have gone for KICKGAS but that was taken. If you see me driving around Sammamish, say hi!

You think FUOPEC is too much? ;-)

Brian H | January 17, 2013

Well, since most US oil is now domestically sourced ...

joepruitt | January 17, 2013

My plates came in!

Brian H | January 17, 2013

but, you're evidently in favour of "crude"! ;)

2EV-Family | January 17, 2013

Toying with these for my performance version:

OIL LOL (My other car is LOL OIL)

Velo1 | January 19, 2013

2 months The Dept of Revenue in Colorado rejected my application for KICKGAS, saying it could be perceived as offensive.
After chewing on it (idea, not rejection letter), I reapplied, but requested KCK GAS. Yesterday, Jan 18th, I get a letter from them saying "Congratulations! Your application for KCK GAS has been approved." glad they weren't offended, and I am thrilled the get that plate. Plus, the same day as my notice arrived, so did my Model S.

bhs1 | January 19, 2013

Here's one my wife won't let me get - PAST GAS. That wouldn't be offensive, would it??

Velo1 | January 19, 2013

No, I past gas all the time, and it doesn't offend me. Maybe ask her if you can apply for BEANO.

GoTeslaChicago | January 19, 2013

Not clever, but certainly a vanity plate: TESLA 1

Illinois environmental plate on my Jetta TDI in 2007, transferred to my new Prius in April, 2008 and now finally on my Model S since 12/24/2012.

I now have MODEL X vanity plate on my Prius waiting its turn...

Lectric_Ride | January 19, 2013

Plates not delivered yet, but they will be "HG VLTG," (HGH VLTG was taken :-( Hopefully by another Tesla owner), with a plate frame that says "DANGER"
