Does anyone have any recommendations on good protectant for leather seats and interior for the Model 3 that won't damage anything?
Well first, there is no leather in your car, besides the steering wheel. As for stuff to put on the seats to “protect” them, anything you put on will simply come off when you sit on it. The material is polyurethane, meaning an oil product which unlike leather, won’t absorb and topical dressing. To clean the seats, assuming you have the white interior that would show dirt, a soft bristle brush or simply a micro-fiber towel with soap and water should do the trick.
I use distilled water in a spray bottle and a micro fiber towel. No streak marks and does the trick.
I'm using Car Guys Super Cleaner: https://www.carguysdetail.com/products/super-cleaner
Very happy with the results.
I have been using 303 Aerospace Protectant for years on plastics and rubbers with great results. I just used it in my Model 3 and thought "if there ever was a perfect use for 303, it is the interior of the Model 3." Highly recommended.
By the way, the key to 303 is to put it on and then wipe it dry. Don't use on fabrics. They make a fabric protection product, but it is a bit more problematic/tricky to use successfully.
I got the interior ceramic coated when they did the exterior, so far a damp rag has been sufficient for everything I've needed to clean.
I'm an idiot and made the mistake of thinking that my leather seats were actually leather. I got some Meguiar's leather wipes and used them, and I thought I had made a terrible mistake. The seats were a shiny, smeary mess. Luckily, it seems that it wipes off with soap and water, so all is well. Don't use those wipes though, and you probably don't want to use any other leather cleaning product on them either.
^^^ what Larry said. Aerospace 303 is perfect, I’ve also been using it for years. I even use it on leather. Another thing I’ve done is use Maguiars NXT wax on the shiny plastic on the center console. Put it on just like I would on the exterior and it seems to be doing great.
Add me to the Aerospace 303 camp. I've been using it for years. I buy it by the gallon and just keep refilling my spray bottle.
Thank you all for your replies. Very helpful!
Keywords: Tesla 3, HVAC, dash vent, cleaning, removing leaf.
Any advise on how to get a leaf out of the dash vent?
When increasing the fan over 3 or 4 I can hear an annoying noise coming out of the left section of the dash vent (somewhere between the steering wheel and the driver door). I guess there is a leaf stuck in the vent.
Any suggestion (beyond vacuum cleaner ) would be welcome.
+1 @ LarryZ 303 Rocks!!
+1 303. The Tesla detailer turned me on to it....and that dude knows his stuff!
303 - ? Are we talking the multi surface cleaner or the UV Protectant ?
I use the 303 aerospace protectant. About $21 for 32 oz spray bottle.
303 multi. Just got some more of it today. Sweeeeet.
Someone suggested a 4:1 water (distilled) to rubbing alcohol mix does the trick. Anyone use?
clean it with anything you have ever cleaned any car with.
After reading the thread I looked up aerospace protectant seems like the real deal. Amazon wanted 50+ for 128oz container found on the dreaded Walmart for 30 https://www.walmart.com/ip/303-30320-Aerospace-UV-Protectant-for-Plastic...
