Model S left behind! WTH!

Model S left behind! WTH!

I was supposed to take delivery of my MS today. It did not happen and my DS told me that the hauler was not responding, the location of the car was not known. Well, I just got an update and apparently the other cars that came with my MS were delivered to the store but mine was left behind in Alabama. This is extremely disappointing and concerning, why was my car left behind, is there a problem with it? I am really upset right now! Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried with the cars condition?

aarnold | June 22, 2016

Yes...your wife would cut you off for longer then the recovery time from giving birth. You don't want that.

renwo S alset | June 22, 2016

Finders keepers.

ishaik | June 23, 2016

manny, anything yet dude? i hope your lack of posting indicates that you are driving around in your new MS and not still stuck in limbo.

let us know how its going dude!

alnrench2 | June 23, 2016

Offer to take delivery "after" July 1st and see what they say.........

Smbarkeh86 | June 23, 2016

Good luck getting this sorted out!!!!! I've been following your story for a few days and I feel for you! This wait sucks!!! And I'm sure the anxiety of having your wife go into labor any minute now doesn't help!!!!

Manny13z | June 23, 2016

@ishaik I wish I could say I have it, but sadly that's not the case. I thought that maybe I imagined ordering the car, or that it was a great dream. But after pinching myself and logging into my account, I see that I indeed ordered the car.

I still haven't heard from my DS, she hasn't answered the last email I sent her on Tuesday afternoon asking for an update. I texted my sales specialist, he answered right away, great guy and service from him. He told me they were expecting another truck last night and hopefully my car was on it. I haven't heard from anyone today and I've been busy with my wife and baby.

I've thought of calling over there and asking for the store manager, but the mood it would put me in would only affect what I'm doing for my new son and wife so I've held back from doing that. There's no doubt in my mind that I will be taking delivery of my wife's M3 from the Dania Beach Tesla store. I don't want to deal with the Orlando delivery team after this experience.

ishaik | June 23, 2016

@manny, hang in there man. you'll have your car soon enough.

congrats on the new baby by the way!

for what it's worth i got a call from freemont delivery today, of all people. i guess they do read our posts on here. the guy i spoke to was very helpful and knew what he was talking about. he said my car is built and on its way to orlando and he would get in touch with them and help coordinate delivery.

they are reading/watching so hopefully your situation is rectified soon.

keep us updated and in the meantime, have fun with your new little one! we just had a boy too 4 months ago!

Manny13z | June 23, 2016

@ishaik Thank you, congrats on your baby as well. My wife had a C-Section and she keeps asking me when the MS is going to get here, she does not want to try to climb into her Jeep Grand Cherokee, the MS is at a much better height. And my son must not be driven home in an ICE...He must be taught the EV way early...LOL

Haggy | June 23, 2016

Think of it this way. The car is likely to get to you just as soon whether or not your DS knows the details. They handed it off to a truck driver who may or may not have admitted to a mistake and they might have no clue why it was left off the truck. The important thing is that they know where it is and are working to get it to you. Knowing why it happened won't change what has happened, and firing a truck driver (not that he's a Tesla employee anyway) won't get you the car faster. Even if Tesla never knows why it didn't get to you on time, it won't help much, except if it happens to other people, Tesla will want to have more checks in place.

We all understand your disappointment, especially those of us who waited five times as long as people are typically waiting now, and who have had our deliveries delayed. Mine was delayed three times, and two of those were for reasons they couldn't give me. That doesn't mean I like the delays or think it's a good thing. It does mean that I understand it and also understand how you will probably feel once you get the car in your hands and all this becomes a distant memory.

I do know that yelling at your DS won't get you the car any faster, and being upset about it won't help either. Spend some more time with your wife and baby. This is the time to be happy.

Manny13z | June 23, 2016

@haggy I understand what you're saying, you make good points. I don't believe I'm an unreasonable person in expecting they communicate with me, wether or not they have an answer or solution. The lack of communication is what bothers me. I would never yell at my DS. Even if I think they did a poor job, which is my feeling in this case, I would never disrespect another person in that fashion. Especially a DS who has been cordial with me when they have communicated.

Although I'm running hot right now, it's not the end of the world and I'm sure I'll get over it quickly once I get the car. I just want Tesla to delight their customers in every phase, because I'm rooting for them to succeed.

PS: I'm enjoying my little guy, puts a smile on your face no matter what. I was just hoping to take him home in the safest car on the planet.

DonS | June 23, 2016

@Haggy +1
While it is "nice to know" what happened the truck will get there when it gets there. Of course, setting correct expectations is important because as shown in this thread, there is a much bigger emotional downside from a miss, than there is upside from an early delivery.

frankie.fingers | June 23, 2016

@Manny - Been away for a few days, and came back to read of your ordeal. I'm sure it will be rectified soon, so hang in there! And congrats on the new baby!

Manny13z | June 23, 2016

@frank.s70d Thanks! I hope your enjoying your MS, loved your pictures.

eye.surgeon | June 23, 2016

Take a deep breath. You'll get it when you get it. I've ordered lots of cars from the factory. This isn't uncommon. My last Range Rover was over a month late from the promised delivery date. Tesla doesn't own the shipping companies. They aren't in control.

Bighorn | June 23, 2016

Maybe there should be Lamaze classes for Tesla buyers.

Manny13z | June 23, 2016

@Bighorn Like my wife told our Doctor. "Forget the breathing, give me the damn drugs!" In her case it's an epidural, in mine it's the MS... ;-)

Manny13z | June 24, 2016

Taking my son home from the hospital today :-). Still no news on a delivery date for my MS, and no update from the DS. I've been left in the dark on the situation. No ride home in a Tesla for baby Evan.

Run4Waffles | June 24, 2016

Congratulations on bringing Evan home today. Great news that your wife and Evan are healthy! Enjoy this glorious day! Best wishes. Pamper them all well.

Manny13z | June 24, 2016

@Run4Waffles Thank you.

Run4Waffles | June 24, 2016

You're very welcome.

babyjocko | June 24, 2016

@Manny13z, I would call Tesla corporate office in Palo Alto if I were in your situation. 650-681-5000

aarnold | June 24, 2016

Pins and Needles here...Do you have the car ??? Please don't tell us that they have not contacted you yet.

Manny13z | June 24, 2016

@aarnold They have not contacted me. I haven't heard from the DS or received any updates. I'm totally in the dark.

aarnold | June 24, 2016

ishaik | June 24, 2016

@manny, i can't believe this man. all you can do is be patient. you have your son to distract you from this in the meantime. hang in there! your experience is not making me look forward to my delivery day at all. i hope mine goes smoother than this.

KP in NPT | June 24, 2016

At this point I'd probably call the manager, if not corporate.

sp_tesla | June 24, 2016

Manny13z | June 24, 2016

It might be the 13 that causing the bad luck delay:)

rhyder | June 24, 2016

Manny, congratulations on your newborn!

Been following your vehicle delivery trials and tribulations and really feel for you. I work in the automobile industry and know firsthand about mistakes and delays in transportation. Sometimes, the real world intrudes on our plans and that certainly sucks. But, this lack of information is beyond ridiculous. Someone out there knows where your car is, what the holdup is, and when you will receive it. You have been very, very patient through this (maybe because having a child tends to put things in perspective), but I agree with other posters that you need to escalate this to the store manager or higher. A world class car should come from a world class manufacturer with world class processes. It's up to customers to keep pushing Tesla to that higher standard.

Anyway, when this is finally resolved and you get the car, high-five that kid for me!

PhillyGal | June 24, 2016

Congrats on the baby! Sorry your car issue hasn't been resolved.

Manny13z | June 24, 2016

Tesla forum family. I appreciate your well wishes and support, and allowing me to vent. I called the store and spoke with a new person on the delivery team regarding my delivery. I am scheduled to pick up the car this coming Tuesday, the car will be delivered to the store sometime this weekend.

I will update you all as soon as I have it in hand.

tes-s | June 24, 2016

They had a transporation issue, took 3 days for them to get you a new delivery date, that is a week later than your original date?

I knew they would find a way to get it to you before the end of the quarter.

SbMD | June 24, 2016

Congrats, @manny, on the new baby and your other upcoming delivery! Glad this is getting sorted out.

It will be well worth the wait...

Manny13z | June 27, 2016

What a difference communication makes. The bad news is that I won't be getting my MS tomorrow, the good news is that it's finally on the move to Florida. I am disappointed that I won't be getting it tomorrow but not angry like I was with the first cancelation. The difference? The communication from a gentleman named Phil from the Tesla delivery team. He has updated me when he's promised and been patient in explaining things to me, he's also been very responsive if I contacted him with a question.

This is what the experience with the DS should be, it defuses the situation and prevents the disappointment from turning into downright anger. i look forward to getting my MS here soon.

ishaik | June 27, 2016

@manny, do they have a date yet for you to get your car? i need to apply for financing soon and still haven't heard from my DS with a loan amount that i need. i emailed her last week sometime and no reply still. i might just call there and find out because i need an accurate figure since i plan to do 100% financing. makes me a little nervous.

Manny13z | June 27, 2016

@ishaik They did not give me a delivery date, I suspect they want to avoid another cancellation, and want to be sure the car is in their possession before rescheduling. They told me they would give me an update this afternoon. There is no excuse for the DS not getting back with you on this. I would call the store and get the sales team or store manager involved. Maybe they can get you in touch with Phil, he's been great.

ishaik | June 28, 2016

@manny, please tell me you have your car or you know when you're getting it! i called my DS today and set up delivery for july! my car is there! its going to be even more painful to wait knowing my car is there and ready to be picked up and waiting for it. I'm relieved though in a way.

Manny13z | June 28, 2016

@ishaik I do not have my car yet, still hasn't arrived to the store. I'm on day 36 since it finished production. I spoke with them today and they believe it will arrive tomorrow. If your car is there why can't you pick it up until July?

steveg1701 | June 28, 2016

That does seem odd Manny, one would think they would want to get it delivered before the end of the quarter!

ishaik | June 28, 2016

@manny, I'm out of town unfortunately and can't pick it up until then. Hope you get your car soon!

Manny13z | June 29, 2016

Well gang, I'm happy to report that my long wait for my MS will finally end tomorrow on day 38. I just received confirmation that I'm good for pick up. I have a mixture of excitement and relief. Once Phil from the Tesla delivery team in Florida got involved, so did the communication. I will send pictures as soon as I can figure out how to post them to this forum.

MrLunch | June 29, 2016

Woohoo yay!

TesMD | June 29, 2016

Congrats on finally getting this sorted out and being so close to having your car.

Run4Waffles | June 29, 2016

Glad to hear that tomorrow is the day! Did you give the garage floor a few extra moppings or other nesting? Or some additional readings of the owner's manual or the OMC?? Enjoy the Grin!!!

@Run4waffles At this point I might know the car better than the DS. The garage is clean and ready for the MS.

Silver2K | June 29, 2016

Wow haven't followed this thread in a bit. Congrats on Evan Manny!! Great news!

Manny13z | June 29, 2016

Thanks! Evan is currently using me as his bed. I haven't been abale to move and my backside has lost feeling. | June 29, 2016

@Manny: Congratulations on the important new arrival, your son.
The other thing is just a car. Hope you and your family are kept safe by the new S and that it turns out to be worth the wait.

bak_phy | June 30, 2016

People will put up with so much more as long as there is honest communication. I think most people understand that sometimes things get messed up and are ok with it as long as they see that the other side is doing everything they can to fix things.

frankie.fingers | June 30, 2016

@Manny - Looking forward to pictures today of your new son in your new car! Congrats!!
