Now what?

Now what?

I just finalized my order and I'm in the 6-week window. Now what? I've watched every watchable YouTube video, read my Tesla Google News alert, looked through this forum - I'm completely out of ideas on how to prevent this from seeming like the longest 6 weeks of my life. Any suggestions?

Check out teslamotorsclub.com, plenty there to keep you busy for 6 weeks. You can also pick up some shares of TSLA and enjoy the ride...

Read ICE news just so you can laugh at all of the absurd supposed "revolutionary" breakthroughs in engineering.

Artificial coma... wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise.

Mathew98 | 2 July 2013

Call Tesla and ask them to finalize your order (no more changes to config) and shave two weeks off production wait time.

jonesxander | 2 July 2013

Buy a Tesla shirt, hat, and a keychain and wear them every day there's an announcement or news. For you sports fans, this is relative to wearing your team's jersey on game day.

The next scheduled day is 7/22 when they release Q2 results, but I'm sure there will be more occasions before then. For instance, today!

Hilarious. Terrific idea. I guess I could start amassing an official count of all the gas stations I pass in the next 6 weeks that I'll never stop at again.

There are 7 years of blog archives to catch up on if you want to know the history.

Assuming of course you have not been following the company since 2006. Some of the old stuff is very interesting and still has some bearing on issues today. For example, some are hailing the "news" that Tesla will be building a less expensive car starting in the $30K range in a few years. You could read the original blog where the "Secret Tesla Master Plan" was published laying this out in some detail.

MCGRATH | 2 July 2013

Did you sign the "Petition" to allow Tesla to sell in all 50 states? You can do that.

Visit the closest supercharger that is under construction and take pictures.

lolachampcar | 2 July 2013

Try to remind yourself you are no longer twelve years old and it is not Christmas (or pick your holiday) eve.

Good luck with that one... I've had no success and I am on wait number two.

Prep your old ICE car for sale, and start picking out vanity plates for your Tesla

Also, make sure your garage is cleared out, and has all the proper electrical wiring and outlets

Oh, and maybe review your electricity bill, and see if Solar PEV makes sense for your house

cmlaff | 2 July 2013

You can feel sorry for those of us who waited over 3 yrs for the car......
That won't last long and then you can do some homework on good detailers in your area, find a good tint installer, make sure that your house can handle the extra load on its circuits, measure your garage to be sure that it will fit, explore rebate options from the Feds, your state, your city/county, figure out if solar panels make sense to you (then your car runs for free on starlight which is really cool!), buy some lint free soft car wipes for those damn fingerprints that fall from the sky, scope out all the parking spaces in your frequently used parking lots that will minimize your risk of lot shots, anguish over just who you will allow to drive your "precious", investigate Time of Use options from your local power company to see if you can take full advantage of Tesla's scheduled charging times, read War and Peace.

The tell you the same thing that I wish lamaze coaches told my wife and I before the birth of our child: It's going to VERY painful and there's very little you can do about it. But you'll survive, and it'll be wonderful.

bnwdon | 2 July 2013

6 WEEKS! You can do that on your head. I waited 2 1/2 years and still not normal as you can see I'm still on the forum page. I have to get a life!

JaneW | 2 July 2013

HenryT2. Sorry to hear your lamaze coach didn't prep you better. I used lamaze twice and had no pain. Repeat no pain at all. Lamaze is supposed to be no pain. From what I hear, lamaze coaches have all sold out and just lead you into natural childbirth. Not the same.

Still there's no pain like waiting for your Tesla. I've done that twice, too.

emoflash | 2 July 2013

I received my VIN number and estimated delivery ages ago (feels like months. I just looked at the calendar and realized it was only 6 days ago!!!! The slowest 6 days of my life. I feel like a 7 year old a week before Christmas because I just know Santa is going to get me the awesome Hot Wheels double loop track I asked for!!

HenryT2 | 2 July 2013

@JaneW
It wasn't Lamaze(TM). It was just usual childbirth classes. Learned all the breathing and stuff. Didn't know there was a big difference. In anycase, you are the first person who I've ever heard of who went through natural child birth and said there was no pain. People I know who went through Lamaze said it was still very painful. And from what I could see, breathing exercises would help about as much as handing a National Geographic magazine to a person waiting their final week for their Model S.

lolachampcar | 2 July 2013

bnwdon,
I feel your pain.

mortgagebruce | 2 July 2013

Go buy yourself some rubber floor mats and wait for the tracking email so you can track how quickly you'll get them.

emoflash | 2 July 2013

Lol, I already bought my all weather trunk mats! The floor mats are next!

The best thing is when you pinch yourself to see if you're dreaming, and you're not! (Unlike that big bag of cash you found or the supermodel that was hitting on you)

cfOH | 2 July 2013

Best. Thread. Ever.

emoflash | 2 July 2013

I was heading down the road on Sunday to meet a friend and this really cool looking Black car caught my eye in the oncoming lane. As it got closer and then passed me I realized it was a Tesla Model S!!! I thought to myself, Hey, that's my new car!!!!!!! Nothing better than re affirming how much I like the looks it.

Why do you have to wait 6 weeks? I literally finalized my order today, and it is slated for delivery in late July (3-4 weeks).

Tesla4JP | 2 July 2013

Add a few movies to the list

-Who killed the electric car
- Revenge of the electric car. Don't forget to watch the 'extras'. Dan Neil & Musk exchange is great! Love it that Neil lost the bet!!

I don't know. They told me 6 weeks once it goes into production. I'm all about getting it faster, though. Perhaps that will be a nice bonus.

Tesla is a master at underpromising and overdelivering.

I am 3146 | 3 July 2013

You can also have cards ready to hand out to explain all about your new Tesla. You also can have time to prepare to answer some of the most asked questions like:

Who makes it?
How much does it cost?

then you can also try and figure out which of your friends or neighbors might not like you as much anymore since you are going to own your new Tesla and they most likely will be jealous.

JAFIC | 3 July 2013

1.Start clearing out your existing car's storage/glovebox/boot. Decide if that should go inside the Model S

2. Buy some all weather floor mats. The ones that come with the car aint so good (or so I hear)

3. Memorize the google checklist for new delivery. There's a link on this forum. Have that on your phone/tablet on delivery day
