Articles are being paid to associate the words "fire" and "Tesla". It's a bottom-feeder technique that the uneducated segment of the public loves to feed on. The way to go, I believe, is to respond with different word associations. For Tesla, there are many of incredible nature: that's how good their product is.
Maybe the Tesla management can focus on re-iterating those words, which are undeniable truths about Tesla that no one can compete with. This circus will end because people can only feed on one sensationalist theme for a short time - it gets boring after that.
