AP works with no lane markings

I was recently on a curvy mtn road on AP when I came upon a recently paved segment with no lane markings. I decided to see what the car did. It managed the Mile or so segment without problem despite the fact that there were no lane markings. That surprised me.

How wide was the road, and where did the car position itself?

two lane road, divided highway. I was in left lane. Car ignored turn lanes and crossroads. I was pretty nervous, but car did well.
Very impressive to me.

Machine learning at work. Whatever human drivers could handle machine will eventually learn how to. Another example mentioned in the investor day presentation is AP, just like human drivers, can tell which way a curve road turns even if you can't see around the corner. You just know when you see enough of them.
