My Rockville, MD. DS (Delay specialist) just sent me an email:

"We should have a 5 seater in Rockville shortly – once I’m able to send a picture of the seats folded, I certainly will."

Even if this one isn't mine, mine should arrive "Soon." Every time I say I'm expecting delivery, it sounds like child birth, but that ONLY takes 9 months.

lilbean | 1 December 2016

Lol!

burdogg | 1 December 2016

question - which one is more painful - 9 months and delivery of child, or x months and delivery of your X :)

man here asking, as I can't speak for the first one there :)

lilbean | 1 December 2016

Hmmm. I thought they were both easy :)

Saxman | 1 December 2016

@Burdogg
I can't tell you which is more painful, but can weigh in on which is more expensive...and you can't take to a SC when it's acting up!
:)

burdogg | 1 December 2016

Saxman - LOL You can banish it to a far corner of the house though :) That is the old style reboot.

beaners - were you drugged for both? The X wait is painful - unless i was in a coma for the time :) Again, can't speak of the other, but watched wifey through the first delivery without epideral (until a certain point) and THAT did not seem easy :) (or was it all a show for me?)

lilbean | 1 December 2016

Haha! I popped my babies out in 4 hours. Easy peasy. I'm just blessed I guess. I'm 5'1" 95 lbs. I had an epidural. I reserved the X in September 2015, confirmed in January and got it end of March. No drugs or alcohol for that.

lilbean | 1 December 2016

I did have severe morning sickness and threw up 3600 times. 12 times a day minimum for 5 months.

lilbean | 1 December 2016

Tesla had to wait for me because we were on a ski trip when our car was ready. Haha!

burdogg | 1 December 2016

Lucky you - My wife first she wanted to see how far she could go, what it was like before the epidural. She had to be induced so went from 5 AM to 10:30 AM every 5 minute contractions, very painful and long :( finally at 10:30, got the epidural and life was easy peasy from then until 1:15 when kido came out :) Since then, the other 3 epidurals right from the start and not long. Modern medicine is nice :)

lilbean | 1 December 2016

Yes. Wouldn't be able to do it without an epidural. :)

vperl | 1 December 2016

Can I have one while I wait for my MX 5 seater, please

Maybe the anxiety would be less..... Or not

burdogg | 1 December 2016

vperl - um, I think it doesn't numb the brain, just lower extremities. But I am sure we can work something out - how about a coma. If you find a two for one, I will join you :)

yaw20 | 1 December 2016

Got the almost magic words- Your Tesla is in production! No coma or epidural for me...Just need the money ready! This one costs more than all my previous cars combined!

Errol_martinez | 1 December 2016

My ds emailed production moving faster than she expected so should receive my 5 seater end of next week.

yaw20 | 1 December 2016

Congrats!

jestah | 1 December 2016

Those TMC pics are highly suspect, no shot with seats folded down, which is kind of the point.

I'll be at the Fremont factory tomorrow afternoon and will set the record straight on 5 seat if, whens etc

JAnnen | 1 December 2016

Thanks jestah, I look forward to reading you post. Maybe you could measure the narrow dimension of the cargo bay?

I get about 45" between the wheel wells on the cargo deck. The deck is in three sections: the trunk lid, the middle raised section between the wheels and the folded seats backs. I get 80" from the lift gate to the back of the front seats. Both of these deck numbers 45" and 80" seems a little high to me. What do you measure?

Triggerplz | 1 December 2016

@lilbean TMI :-)

harry.corbeek | 2 December 2016

Wow am I glad that I changed to a 6 seater ! My first car a 2cv4 had comparible seating in the back. Now i understand the pricedifference for the 6/7 seating.

john.bjordal | 2 December 2016

Lets wait for the final solution, this is most likly not as 5 seater will be delivered:)

john.bjordal | 2 December 2016

I mean there is several missing parts here, both fixed and removable so it does only give you an idea on how much more space there is and that is significantly:)

poloX | 2 December 2016

Why do some of you suspect the photos? They look legitimate to me. 2 compartments with removable on with a pull tab to remove it. The outer compartment is clear here. What I don't like is the inner compartment expose to the are beneath the bench. Wish they had a wall there. So you can't store stuff there. They will slide forward to the cabin under the bench.

I read this one, to me it seems like a car that has not been delivered to customer yet. The guy refer to lever missing, that why there is no pictures of the seast folled flat, so here is several things missing. I guess Tesla did not have it ready by the time car needed to be sent from the factory? The are beneath the bench will be covered by one of those part that are missing, I think!

poloX | 2 December 2016

Yes, so the cover is removed to take that picture. How does that invalidate the picture? The seats can be folded up and down. In the pic, it folded up. How does that make the pics not legit? Everything makes sense to me. 2 trunk floor covers: the outer piece is with the silver handle as in all MX. The inner piece is with the pull tab and also removable. Underneath these 2 covers are more storage compartments. And if you look closely, you could raise or lower both covers resulting in a higher or lower of your trunk floor. If you fold the seat down, you must raise the floor to have a flat bed all the way. All great stuff. Only 1 complain already mentioned above about no divider to keep stuff from rolling to the cabin under the bench seat.

vperl | 2 December 2016

O:-)

Saxman | 2 December 2016

@Polo

are you suggesting that when you lower 60/40 bench seat, the ENTIRE cargo area can be flush as a floor?

Saxman | 2 December 2016

I hope Jestah makes good on his post from yesterday to get OFFICIAL scoop on the 5 seater, when visiting Fremont factory today.

poloX | 2 December 2016

Yes, that is what Tesla show. Link below, scroll down to see pic. It's dark but you will see that it is flat and the pull tab to remove the inner cover. I don't make any of these up.

https://www.tesla.com/modelx/design

Saxman | 2 December 2016

Polo
Yes I have looked at that photo many times. However it doesn't look like folded over seat back is FLUSH with the cargo area behind it. It looks raised up.

Am I missing something. I consider flush to mean that when seat is folded, the entire area behind driver seat is totally level. Do you agree?

Thanks

Saxman | 2 December 2016

Polo

Notice the Tesla description in the Six Seat Config. They referred to the 3rd row seating..." folds flat AND flush".
The 5 seat description ONLY mentions ..."foldS flat"

poloX | 2 December 2016

Saxman,
I looked at the picture. It looks flat and flush to me. Now, if you are saying if you use a level tool and check, then perhaps, the back of the 2 row when folded down, seems to tilt up by 2-5 degrees judging from the image. That is flush to me. If you put heavy stuff on top of the back of the seat, it will compress further and will be flat then

Saxman | 2 December 2016

Maybe I am miscommunicating. It looks to me that the SEAT BACK rests on TOP of the SEAT , when folded over. If so, the thickness of that seat back is folded down is several inches HIGHER than the cargo area behind.

My conception of a flush area would be this:

if you placed a pair of skis lengthwise when 2nd row folded, the skiis would lay FLAT, from back of cargo area to back of drivers seat.

Does that make sense?

According to Tesla 5 seat photo, the skis would be ANGLED (back to front).

I'm not saying that is necessarily a bad thing, just that it doesn't fit the conception of flush.

burdogg | 2 December 2016

Saxman - I wonder if there is a second lever that would then lower the all the way down - that is how my expedition is - one folds the top down, then use another lever to fold it down to the floor. Don't know if that would make it flush or not though ;)

Saxman | 2 December 2016

@cica3838

FANTASTIC! !! You've answered the $100,000 question.

TOTALLY FLUSH. I'm even more stoked than before. ..if that's possible.

Thanks again for that great photo.

Saxman | 2 December 2016

@Burdogg

Yep. Looks like you nailed it.

I guess my mindset could not visualize that possibility. My wife's GMC has 60/40 bench seat that folds forward just like Tesla Web page, but DOES NOT fold again flush.

I'm really happy to be wrong.

poloX | 2 December 2016

Sax.. lol. Everyone is happy now.

PedanticOne | 2 December 2016

Except... it seems that those seats are badly aligned/matched, as pointed out in that thread.

JAnnen | 2 December 2016

I emailed: "I love it. This is what I was hoping for. Bring it on. I'm ready."

My DS replied: "Our first 5 seat Model X should be arriving in VA over the weekend."

poloX | 2 December 2016

So mine said it had entered production queue 4 weeks ago. Yesterday DS called and told me status that this panel and that panel were installed....etc and it was all like the car is in the middle of assembly. The today, just 3 hrs ago, I got an email from Fremont saying that my car is now in production. Can someone who has gone thru this process please explain? Thank you.

lilbean | 2 December 2016

Those emails about your car being in production are generic and inaccurate. My DS told me that.

poloX | 2 December 2016

Thanks lilbean
