If this is true why are fossil fuel companies advisors in charge?
So what should we call you Mitch? How about Captain Factless???
You said: I seriously don't burning wood will suffice as an energy source
It is already is done, and at scale.
Google: the worlds biggest biomass power plants
Again, Caveman Mitch doesn't realize that there are wood burning fireplaces that are 90% efficient. The wood is obtained from fallen trees, lumber debris turned into pellets, and wood is renewable. Oil and gas is costly to obtain and transport. As Climate Disruption creates more forest fires and trees dying off from pine beetles the wood burned in wood stoves is better than burning in open air. The lack of imagination and thinking ability from Climate Deniers is sad.
As Mitch calls me ozone hole Mike this is for Caveman Mitch.
Harvard videos of Climate Change and health issues.
Correction - "I seriously doubt burning wood will suffice as an energy source."
Hey whatsyourface, of course burning wood has already been done. We progressed beyond that. Do I object to anybody burning wood in their fireplaces? Of course not! But tell me, what do you think is cleaner? Burning wood in your fireplace, or burning natural gas like I do in my fireplace?!
Captain Planet, you can call me anything you want. I call you names, you can name call me.
Hey ozone hole Mike - Caveman Mitch = smile on my face!
Firstly, I will take it that you now accept that would is a viable energy source, and you were incorrect to state that it was not.
Secondly, with respect to CO2 emissions, burning sustainably sourced wood in your fireplace is better than burning natural gas, as I have already told you.
'that wood is' rather than 'that would is'
Ozone hole Mike - Caveman Mitch= Modern Jobs+O2+ livable environment/fossil fuel profits
Corollary: Livable environment includes clean air+water+tourism
Good scientists are leaving the EPA to be headed by foxes in the hen house.
Hey whatsyourface, I noticed how you conveniently "swept" your chimney and put it under the rug! It is THAT kind of clean I a yakin' about! Particulate matter - smoke!
Now tell me again, which burns cleaner. Wood, or natural gas?
The loss of American clout is very sad.
The title of this thread is:
Almost all Americans want climate change action
Almost all Americans want pollution action
Defying Trump to fight Climate Disruption is ongoing and getting stronger. The World need not give up on America.
California is kicking butt on energy production. Sorry expensive fossil fuel lovers.
Great news @Mike83. This just shows how useless fossil fuels will be very soon.
And now Tesla is in the "energy aggregation" business too. Goodbye Duke Energy.
Wow. SamO I heard of this and didn't know what they call it.(it has been working in Germany).
I want this.I really really want this.
Hey ozone hole Mike, you certainly don't have to say sorry to me. I have nothing against renewables. Just don't FORCE it on to everybody. That is the basic point I'm making to y'all!
Why the straw man arguments? Nobody is forcing anything. Any more than a Model S is forcing you to buy the best car ever made.
Tesla roof is the best roof.
Tesla batteries are the best batteries.
Stop with the straw man. That's why you buy TSLA, right?
Mitch. We give you credit fro supporting Tesla. But your BS climate change denial is still wrong. While your denial may not inhibit you from doing the correct thing it does inhibit others. The consequences of climate change are disastrous and so people need to be forced to change behaviors if they do not do it voluntarily. If there was a cholera outbreak or major terrorist would you be against the government intervening??
LOL @ Captain Planet. Are you one of them "fro bo's?" Ref. "We give you credit fro supporting Tesla."
The fundamental difference between us is that I don't equate "cholera" or a "major terrorist" to climate. Quite the contrary that I am inhibiting others from buying a Tesla. I submit to you and others on your side of the political isle that I am trying to EXPAND the customer base of Tesla! I am trying to convince conservatives to buy Tesla. And the best way to do that is to get Tesla off the global warming bandwagon.
There is an inherent bias against Tesla from my political friends. And this is precisely due to Tesla's alignment with the environmentalist whack jobs of the world. I am one of the conservatives to look past that garbage, and buy a Tesla for my own self interest - the Ayn Rand factor. I checked with my investment broker a few days ago, and she told me that the consensus among the Wall Street experts is to SELL Tesla stock! That poured cold water over interest to buy a whole bunch of Tesla stock. I think conservative bias against Tesla has a lot to do with the SELL signal from Wall Street. I told my broker I still want to buy some stock by sticking my toe in the water.
I know I have a long ways to go to convince my fellow conservatives about Tesla. But I think it would help if Tesla would get away from this environmental mantra, and just sell the car as is. A great car!
They will never get away from the environmental "stuff". It's in their DNA.
Sustainable transportation and (now) energy production and storage.
Think about it as a hedge against EXXON bankruptcy.
Proof that doing things right is the best way economically.
Hey Captain Factless. That you don't take climate change seriously proves my point how out of touch you are. Educate yourself and gain some knowledge. It truly is fun to be informed.
Hey Captain Planet, for 40 years I've been studying and working with weather. After 40 years, a weatherman will develop a sense of climate. After all, the WMO defines climate as a 30 year average. In my lifetime, I've experienced a cooling phase and a warming phase. This is climate. Nothing more, nothing less. That is what climate does. It warms and cools, warms and cools, warms and cools, and at not so regular intervals. When you look at longer time periods, then you can see a more regular, but dramatic swing in climate, i.e., the glacial and interglacials.
One thing that surprises me greatly is that after these 3 years of owning a Tesla, I'm the only known weather person in the Forum. I guess meteorologists just haven't caught the Tesla bug yet. Generally, we don't make a lot of money, so that may be the main reason why you don't see any here except me.
If there is another weather person out there, please chime in!
A weather person, without specific training in the subject, knows as much about Climate Change as a gardener knows about Plate Tectonics.
If you think weather people do know about Climate Change simply because they are weather persons, then you should recognise that the majority of weather persons, and their official organisation, accept that man made Climate Change is a fact.
An automatic transmission specialist knows more about the internal combustion engine than an insurance salesman. Therefore, a meteorologist knows more about climate than a medical doctor.
The weather and Climate are not much related, but if you think they are, then I repeat:
"you should recognise that the majority of weather persons, and their official organisation, accept that man made Climate Change is a fact."
Mitch. You know the weather that you see not the climate as a whole. Do you personally have any records of the weather you forecast. Can you plot out the temperatures for the last 30 years in a particular part of the world. You as a weatherman sort of know what the temperature will be over the next 10 days. However if you don't know science you cannot understand what is driving the climate in the long term.
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Hey whatsyourface, if you don't think meteorology and climatology are related, then why are climatology courses required for a meteorology degree?
GEEEYYAAAWWWD, YOU'RE GOOFY!
I did not say they are not related. I said they are not much related. You can be a weather person without any understanding whatsoever of climate science. You are an example of that.
Hey whatsyourface, think you can split the hair on the difference between "not related" and "not much related?" Is there some sort of objective measure you can inform me about concerning if climate is "not much related" to weather?
Of course climate IS related to weather! How is it NOT related to weather???!!!!
It is precisely because of these types of arguments you liberals make is why I think all of you liberals are so damn goofy!
Hey 60cc SamO, I didn't give you permission to leave your headstand in the corner yet!
Mitch. To clarify. Did you do any climatology courses and what did they teach you?
There is a big difference between the two.
Climate is the long term trend. Weather is the short term trend. The long term Climate trend is not used at all for short term weather predictions. You are an example of that.
Hey Mitch. There was a great weekend update on Saturday Night Live last night. Loved the Trump skits. However if it offends you go to the 4 minute mark. Are you that kind of weatherman??https://youtu.be/Rdskdey9uns
Hey Captain Planet, my wife called me from her daughter's house to let me know that Saturday Night Live was funny last night. I'll check the youtube video tomorrow. Got an early day shift, so turning in.
Hey, were you making a trip to San Antonio or Austin some time soon?
Back from Austin a few weeks ago. Cool place. Not like Texas.
The Climate cowards.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/22/opinion/china-india-climate-change-pa...
“China’s emissions of carbon dioxide appear to have peaked more than 10 years sooner than its government had said they would,” The Times’s Editorial Board writes in today’s paper. “And India is now expected to obtain 40 percent of its electricity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2022, eight years ahead of schedule.”
As the editorial notes — and I encourage you to read it — their progress also highlights the cowardice and short-sightedness of the Trump administration’s climate stance. “China and India are finding that doing right by the planet need not carry a big economic cost and can actually be beneficial,” as the editorial notes.
Hey Mitch the Climate Coward . . . read 'em and weep. Climate change abatement is actually better for business than releasing CO2.
That was the last leg of your stupidly ignorant cheerleading of fossil fuels. What's left?
Hey 60cc SamO, where did you get the silly little idea that I "cheerlead" fossil fuels? I cheerlead ENERGY! I am grateful for energy in all of its forms. Types of energy favor certain geographical regions of the earth. Arid, cloud-free regions favor solar. Cloudy, rainy regions DO NOT. Example - You think Seattle is a good place for solar? Windy regions favor wind. Stagnant regions DO NOT! Stable geological regions favor nuclear. The Ring of Fire does not!
If you can understand this concept 60cc SamO, then you come down off your head in the corner of the back room.
Hey Captain Planet, I forgot what you drive, the S85? Did you drive it to Austin?
Another thing Captain Planet, that SNL video you posted is why I am not in the broadcasting business!
Right . . . you've been advocating for renewable. Silently. All the while stating that renewable couldn't take the place of fossil fuels. My apologies, Derpledore.
Mitch I flew. Wish I had time to drive. But I have 116k plus miles on it so I guess I drive my fair share.
I advocate types of energy wherever it is most feasible 60cc SamO!
And of course taking a dump in every stream, brook, pond, lake and in the air. All for free. Because taking a dump doesn't hurt anyone.
Your fossil fuel is dead as disco, as I've explained to your, repeatedly.
Hello Solar, my old friend
I've come to talk batteries again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Within the sound of silence
"Your fossil fuel" 60cc SamO? Anybody who has ever bought gasoline, oil, or plastic uses fossil fuel. It belongs to whomever buys it.
By the way, who is taking the dump? The producer or the consumer?
