Arm/Rear Seat Cup Holder

Arm/Rear Seat Cup Holder

To many this is probably not a big deal, but it is an irritating one for me. I ordered my Model S and is being built, but I wish before I get it Tesla comes up with a Arm/Rear Seat Cup holder. They did with the drop in center for the front. The funny thing is when I watching one of the Get Amped test drives a saw a glimpse of rear cup holder in the Model S. Now, I don't know if that was an aftermarket product, but if it was Tesla should definitely jump on it and get one of their own. I can assure over 90% of Model S owners will purchase it. Does anyone know if Tesla is going to have one or working on one? | July 30, 2013

A recent tweet from Elon indicated a rear cupholder is coming "soon" and will be available as a retrofit.

"Coming soon" is a very open ended concept for Tesla.

Coming soon can mean in weeks or years. Like the drop in center console, I would like to see it in the Tesla Gear section. Honestly, if I was the only one driving I can careless and also have no one in the back have any drinks of any kind. However, I'm a family man and my child will definitely need a cup holder.

gooshjkc, Aren't those on the end of their arms? ;)

That center console has been pushed back from summer 2013 to fall 2013. No doubt in the fall it will be pushed to spring 2014.

Yep, $600-$1160. Long before spring 2014.

There's a lot of aftermarket cup holders on the market that attach to the AC vents available in the back area. With brainpower and $10, most people could muscle their way to an innovative and *almost* graceful solution (the top 10% of people of course creating a graceful solution). If not, there's always duct tape (make a holder from, not attach the cup with!!!) solutions.

Seriously though--a vent cup holder should work until they finish the one they officially admitted to working on. Tesla Motors doesn't have to manufacture all the solutions since they got the most important ones right IMO--Welcome EV future!
