What is the right way to unlock the charge port?

What is the right way to unlock the charge port?

Every morning, unplugging the charger takes 15 seconds for me.

What I expect is:
- walk up to car
- doors automatically unlock
- charge port automatically unlocks
- unplug

Instead what I get is
- walk up to car
- doors automatically unlock
- press button on charge connector
- wait 2-3 seconds for lots of clicks
- still not unlocked, do it again
- click clunk, not unlocked, repeat
- doors timeout and lock now
- finally just get out the key
- unlock all doors manually
- press the button on charge connector
- eventually it unlocks.

Any clues?

Thanks,
Mike

I got a phone call from my wife yesterday when she was unplugging the car for the first time, and she described something similar to what you described. I'm not sure if there was a legitimate problem or if she just had trouble because it was her first time. (Maybe she hesitated or something.)

Normally, I approach the car, and the door unlock. Then I press AND HOLD the button on the charge connector until the light turns pale blue. Then I pull out the charge connector.

Press and hold!!!! Ahhh- going to try that.

Thanks!

I've had similar experiences, but what I found works is if I touch a door handle to extend them, and THEN press the button on the charge handle, it releases every time. I will also try holding the button to see if it works without extending the door handles.

It is definitely finicky. However, it opens consistently for me if I press and hold the connector button right after the door handles extend. Also, the trunk must be closed.

Same problem the first time. I had success leaving a door ajar to prevent the car locking, until my wife told me to try holding the button down, which did the trick.

I had the same experience until I read the manual and it said "press and hold". Now I have no problem.

just experienced a “check power source” message.....plugged in again got same message....went to a different charger and plugged in.....works great now....bad supercharger

So the trick is, press the lever on the charger plug so it unlocks, but don't pull it out, release the lever so the plug locks back on the adapter, then pull, so the adapter comes out with the plug.

German Minister of economy criticises the decision to stop the tree cutting: “The construction of the Tesla car plant in Brandenburg is of great importance for more climate protection and one of the most important industrial settlements for a long time”

RosterMan | May 29, 2020

When I see how many "real" and naturally grown forests are killed in Germany for Parking-Lots for Sport events or for inefficient Wind-Parks (bad locations) or poisoned with regular kerosene fuel dumps (NATO battle jet / air refueling trainings over Palatinate Forest) without any backfire I'd bet that the German car lobby is a big player behind this, because they fear to be kicked out of the market by Tesla sooner or later. - Smells like planned sabotage to me.

I mean we're talking about a monoculture forest plus Tesla wants to plant new trees and even more than they cut down ... in other words: Tesla is doing A LOT more for climate and environment already now than a lot of German gov and even environment organizations did over many years.

I facepalm here every day ...

I hope Tesla won't get more problems with their location in Germany. I'd really love that they expand their business and infrastructure here.
