Would you buy a Tesla without the new lease program?

Hi,

I'm interesting in hearing whether or not existing Tesla owners would have bought their vehicles if the lease program did not exist. I'm also interested in hearing whether or not prospective Tesla owners would buy a Tesla vehicle without such a program.

Thanks,
HM

Own two. What lease program ?

What lease program? There is one in Europe, run by Athlon. Here, a few states have a loan/buyback system with Tesla & WellsFargo and USBank. But it's not a true lease.

If I had the money to buy one I woulndt hesitate.
This is the only feasible way to go from fossile fuel.

We bought ours outright, so we didn't care if there was a lease program or not.

There is no lease program. It's just a sell back option (to Tesla) if you get Tesla financing. The window is 90 days after 3 years.

fossil

IMO it's a fake problem, mostly. The car is self-justified, it's so dang good.

paid cash and would do it again

Yes, obviously. I bought my Model S in 2012 before the "lease" program was available.

There are thousands of people who bought the car before this "lease" program was even announced.

I don't like leases. I hate car payments as much as I hated buying gas. Leasing sounds like a nightmare of perpetual payments to me. I'll leave that option to those that have tax adantages via leasing.

I hated paying rent too. I don't like any automatically renewing subscription based services either. I think I was born this way. Is there a "control freak" gene?

Captain_Zap, you are not alone. Same here.

A few of my friends would not have bought the car without the lease program as they wanted to write off the cost. Three of them to be precise, all doctors.

I pay cash for almost everything, so yes I'd buy regardless of lease options. It's a game changer

lestong | November 8, 2013

Yes, I would still buy. I did however purchase with the lease program as insurance if three years down the road some issues with the Tesla brand arose. Insurance is always good.

As of now, I love this car.

Bought outright. Would do so again.

I lease my autos because of corporate tax breaks.

I would lease a Tesla if that were a viable option.

The Hypothetical Lease Program. You must've heard about it!

Athlon in Europe leases various cars, including the MS.
