Autosteer/autopark effect on tire life?

Autosteer/autopark effect on tire life?

Has anyone looked at whether autosteer/auto-park is harder on tires? When I use auto-park, and the steering wheel spins, there’s a lot of tire noise. Similarly, on autosteer the car seems to make much jerker adjustments than I do when I’m in control. Do these differences add up to anything significant?

Unknown, but I would guess: probably. I know I was always taught to not turn the steering wheel on a stationary vehicle for this reason. My 2012 LEAF owners manual had a warning in it against this for both tire wear and greater energy consumption reasons. On the very few occasions I had to do this to get out of a tight parking situation, I can’t say I noticed any differences to wear or charge, but again, that was only 2-3 times during 8 years of ownership.

Do a lot of auto park? While you’re moving at any speed the amount of scrub at the steering angle amounts to.... nothing

My AP/FSD hasn't be working lately. Right now I don't see any other lanes or cars around me, nor the speed limit. When I get it back periodically, ill get random "take control now" prompts after a while with the red steering wheel image / chips and then I lose it for a while again. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

wow really? how would you even consider it would use more than you doing the same task? you need a life if you are worried about the .02 cents of rubber you might lose over the life of the tires ?!?

Auto steer, extremely doubtful. In fact do not find it jerky at all so perhaps my own driving is harder on tires than autosteer. Auto park, er yeah I probably won’t be using that a lot, except on wet pavement.
