Any word on the AT&T thing with Tesla in regards to an upgrade to 4G?

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, but at 48:40 into the 2012 Shareholder Meeting Elon says "...bit of course all cars come with 4G connectivity"

Hopefully that puts the "is it 3G or 4G" debate to bed.

Mine is 3G, so... I dunno...

I think it's pseudo-4G, fast 3G. Not LTE.

Any word definitively on a 4G update?

Release 6.0?

(I don't own a Tesla, yet) but have a question regarding the cars 3g/4g technology. Do you automatically have an AT&T account when you purchase the car, or this this an option that you must sign up for like a cell-phone contract? How does this all work? What does it cost? Does the car also permit free WI-Fi connection whenever in range of a public WI-FI network?

Perhaps my question was confusing. I know that the tech package includes navigation and I assume this is via GPS. That would be included at no further ongoing expense. But to be able to get online and connected to the internet, that must be via wi-fi or 3g/4g connection. And I have read that AT&T is the chosen provider. But what I want to know is: does this connection come with the car, or is it something that you sign up for (and perhaps choose different levels of data)? Or, are you expected to connect the car via bluetooth or usb cable to you smartphone/tablet/computer to utilize it's 3g or 4g connection?

Currently if you buy an S you are signed up for 3G at no cost. It is rumored that 4G is coming and it is also rumored that the free connection will go away with the 4G LTE...

It is free until the later of these two: 3 months of service passes, and Tesla finalizes an agreement with a provider. So far, it's been free, as the 2nd has not occurred.
