My dilemma (Really more of a "First World problem")
When I made my reservation times were good and the future looked good..
But things change and I am in different world, not bad but different..
I fear when my number is called there may not be room or funds for such an extravagant item.. Although the deposit would be nice back in my pocket right now, I just can't seem to give up on the elusive fantasy prize.. Thought about putting in for a equity line of credit but try explaining that to a one year old baby and a wife who still drives a beat up Ridgeline..
May have to trade in my pipe dream for a mini van and a LOT less money.. Can't see cleaning up cheerios and fruit paste from the inside of a Tesla without blowing at least a couple of fuses in my skull...

Although it wohlod be a bitchen family wagon but I would end up with a beat up Ridgeline :)

@WishingforaX This might help.

Not to mention you might like the idea that your precious rides in the safest car among them all, assuming MX matches MS in that regard.

Rcgoldman, ordered my X one month ago. You are 700 higher than my RN.

Pretty good biz model to get funding from the pre-order payments.
Estm 30-35 pr day at USD5000 equals around 5mill USD per month of "free" funding.

Or global Model X pre-order to date of estm 18,000 unit at USD 5,000 = 90mill USD in "free funding" + plus signature orders.
(for comparison - Tesla spend 81mill USD on R&D in Q1-14)

I'm a fan (and happy shareholder since summer 2011 :-)

Either Canada's trying to corner the market or have an extra digit or two :)

Brian H | 16/08/2014

He must be referring to the RN. Which is non-sequential, irrelevant.

awalia | 17/08/2014

Sequence number is 686, Canada :) Ignore the other number.

RESERVATION SEQUENCE NUMBER 9,647. I am in USA. I put down the deposit on 05/03/2014. So, in 103 days, the numbers increased 2668. That is 25.9 reservations a day.

But I worry about the gen III. When it comes out in 2017(?), will it drag the value of my X down?
I also don't like the fact that they made the third row seats optional. Doesn't it mean I need to pay more for it or people who don't want it would pay less? I will withdraw or not depending on the price and the test drive when it becomes available.

Maybe I should wait for gen III for less than half of the price of the X.

the bonnie | 17/08/2014

@derekc ... Yes, you will probably pay more for the third row seats and people who don't want them will probably pay less. Doesn't that make sense? Pay for what you want and adjust the price up or down, depending on what you select. Why should you (or anyone) be forced to pay for the third row seats if you don't want them? (Perhaps Tesla should include them on standard pricing and then offer a discount if you decline them - would stop this angst about 'why do I have to pay for them??'.)

Maybe you should wait for the Model 3 if you are overly concerned about what the price of your car will be worth down the road. Of course, then you'll have to worry about what the price of a future model will do to your Model 3. And you may never own an electric vehicle. Because there will always be something better and/or cheaper around the corner.

I bought a Roadster 3.5 years ago for far more than I'll pay for my Model X. And I'd do it again. Because these last 3.5 years of driving a Tesla have been priceless and there is no way that waiting for something cheaper could ever make up for the enjoyment I've had behind the wheel.
