Panoramic Windshield?

Panoramic Windshield?

Reserved the Model X today however I am concerned regarding the possibility of being "annoyed" by sunlight pouring in from the Panoramic Windshield and the glass roof on the Falcon Wing Door. I understand they are tinted but till what extent? Will Tesla release a cover or make it optional, as they have a cover for the panoramic roof on the Model S? Is it possible to black it out with tint later onwards?

I have a pan roof in my 2013 ms 60 and it is absolutely amazing compared to other sun roofs of other vehicles i have had the best sun rays protection u can get from a glass

Does the panoramic roof do a good job blocking the light itself and defuse it?

Currently, when driving in the evening, my family hangs blankets to prevent sunlight from blinding their eyes and face.

Watch any of the numerous videos by the press and you will see how well tinted it is.

@jordanrichard

I've seen positive responses to the pano roof on media but I want to know if the sunlight itself beam into the cabin of the car as it typically does from the side windows?

Well I suspect that the tint/amount of light coming through, will be the same as the Pano roof in the MS.

So I wouldn't expect it to be a source of glare/heat. I am assuming it is the heat that you are concerned with.

Let me see if I understand this. I and thousands of others reserved MX starting in February 2012. You just made reservation today and are posting with concern? You have plenty of time to wait before your vehicle ready for configuration, including I am sure ability to see and ride in vehicle before configuring. Just be patient. When we get our MX vehicles delivered hopefully this year we can post responses allaying your concerns. If helps my MS now with 35,000 miles in South Florida sun has pano roof and no issues at all. Cheers.

I have not had to think of doing anything like that in my ms although i felt exactly what u are afraid of in all my other vehicles
I often look up at my ms sunroof and literally admire how thoughtfully it has been designed to not feel slightest of sun ray irritation in the worst of summer and actually enjoyed the sunroof for the first time

All good news from S owners about the pano roof.

I half-expected electrochromic or even photochromic glass as one of the "secrets" in the reveal, but I guess if it were either we would have heard about it.

Thank you all for responding

@jordanrichard
Heat is a concern but also the intensity of sunlight.

@jdb
Thanks for the feedback, I plan on test driving when available.

@Ga yrikr
On my current cars, I never open the sunroof so hopefully the Model X will be special.

@rossRallen
That would have been awesome but I believe you can install electrochromic tint as an option, has anyone done this or post regarding this?

KMTG | 30/09/2015

A company called Smart Tint sells them

The Pan roof in my model S has never been anything but great. No need for a cover from my perspective.
