Supercharging Times

Supercharging Times

Since you can't search on this forum I'm posting a new topic which may have been addressed in the past.

When I pull into a supercharger with less than 34 miles of range (average power used is 336wH/mile) my MS in 20 minutes adds only 54 miles. To charge my car back to my regular trip range of 213 miles (80% of full capacity) it takes over 1 hour 50 minutes. My car has never charged to 80% in 20 minutes but it used to be much faster of around 40 minutes. Also, I've noticed that now my MS only charges at 32 amps using my mobile charger on a 250v 50 amp outlets.

Very disappointed. Service tells me that I have to document this poor charging within 7-10 days of service appointment not only with what the car logs but with before and after charging photos of my touchscreen.

Anyone else having similar issues with an older (2013) MS?

Thanks

That sounds more like a limited stall, for whatever reason. Didn't you try another one, preferably not in the same pair?

Although there’s no built-in search feature, you can still search the forum — see this: https://teslatap.com/articles/owners-manual-companion/#search

I charge exclusively at fast chargers, 90% of the time the Tesla SC's

Charging times can vary greatly and for no discernible reason. I've been only person there with 10% SOC and only gotten 75kWh. Been there with a bunch of others and gotten 145kWh.

But that is on Model 3 LR AWD rated 310 and 20,000 miles.

As suggested, it it is slow, try another charger stall.

Don't hesitate to call the Roadside Assistance number. There is a selection for Charging Issues. They can look at the car and charger and tell where the problem lies. If they say the car is limiting charging, they may see why and can document for the service center.

What is the Max Charge rate for that car?
