Anyone Get the Model 3 Wireless charger yet?

Anyone Get the Model 3 Wireless charger yet?

Still waiting on mine, but being east-coast I'm assuming I have a longer ETA than some others.
It's also still sold out on the site. Curious if there are any early reviews out there.

I just received the shipping notice for the one that I ordered on 2019-06-03.

Mine will be delivered on Tuesday, removing the Nomad and putting this in. Will let you know results :) .. doing the additional insulation around doors this weekend for sound deadening.

Gordon87 | 22. kesäkuu 2019

@Gaburke58: Why are you switching out the Nomad?

thedrisin | 22. kesäkuu 2019

Taptes $49.90. Works great, looks OEM.

ksrehman | 28. kesäkuu 2019

Mine came on Tuesday 6/25, just installed it today.

It comes in a sleek black box with no instructions inside - reminds me of the monoliths in '2001'. On the back of the box it says 'Made on Earth by humans'.

In the box is a the charging pad with 2 short USB A cables coming off behind it and a glossy piano black decorative trim piece that goes below the bottom edge of the charging pad.

The good: nice material for pad, looks like part of the car more than a third party pad would. Charges through a thin phone case just fine. No lights to show charging status on the pad which I think aren't needed.

The bad: Each side of the pad delivers 5W so not high speed wireless charging. No USB splitter is included so you can use Dashcam and Sentry mode ... Tesla suggests unplugging one side of the wireless charger to free up a port which means you could only charge one phone ...

Instructions and specs here:

@ksrehman thank you for sharing instructions link. I am receiving mine today.

neylus | 28. kesäkuu 2019

@ksrehman - Just to clarify, Tesla also recommends buying a splitter for dual charging w/ Teslacam usb support (same as Nomad etc.).

I purchased the EEIEER wireless charger from Amazon, came with splitters. It was easy to install, fit is perfect and works really well. I would say it is my most useful accessory.

Mine arrived today. It does look/feel great. I attached the drivers' side cable to a powerbank and the powerbank to a USB hub that also connects my USB drive (well, Raspberry pi zero). That way I get maximum power for my side and the powerbank will recharge as the car drives.

In very limited testing, it charged my Galaxy S9+ with a case without any issues.

Here's the battery pack I got:

da_burford | 10. syyskuu 2019

Alisse what type of case do you have? I have the folding leather otterbox case. The top flap folds under so in order to see the screen it would essentially need to charge thru two layers: the folded back flap and then the otterbox case itself. Anyone have any Intel on efficiency with specific cases?

alisse | 11. syyskuu 2019

@da_burford Mine is a simple TPU case.

The rule of thumb with wireless charging is that thinner is always better. Besides the thickness, I'm not even sure the flap will allow any contact with the pad. Additionally, it may slide around a bit if it's not laying flat. If you're committed to keeping that case, you may want to just charge it with the phone screen covered. You shouldn't need to look at it while driving anyway, and the voice assistant should still work either way.

I am waiting for the REAL Model 3 wireless charger...... the one you park your Model 3 on

in7 | 11. syyskuu 2019

I guess I misunderstood this thread.
I was envisioning large lightning bolts flying between my garage wall and the car, Tesla coil style.
Elon is probably already checking into this idea.

St☰v☰ | 11. syyskuu 2019

@in7 - I would actually like to have a wireless charger mounted on my garage floor that I just drive over and park.

Kind alike these:

Janice.ribeiro | 12. syyskuu 2019

Yes and i love the wireless charger. I found it difficult to plug my iphone in with the case on it with the cord that came with my car.

kelder | 12. syyskuu 2019

@da_burford - I bought the Testap. I use a case with a ClipHanger - love those things! I have the N-1 at the link below. Unfortunately, it is too thick to charge - I have to take the phone out of the case. Not sure if I'll be keeping or sending back.

I have had mine a couple weeks. It looks great and works!

allenjernigan15 | 15. syyskuu 2019

Also @alisse I'm east coast too. It took a week to get to me.

Natashapatel | 19. syyskuu 2019

Anyone have issues with it? It worked for the first day and now doesn't. I know the pad is working because I tested it plugged in to a wall, I know the outlets work because a wired charger works. Tired with a splitter and without.

pavonica31 | 06. lokakuu 2019

I have a Galaxy 8+ and use an Otterbox case. Do you think my case os okay or too thick?

moorelin | 06. lokakuu 2019

Installed this splitter + wireless charger combo today.

Took a while to arrive and a bit pricy. Instructions could be better. But looks good and seems to work well.

"I have a Galaxy 8+ and use an Otterbox case. Do you think my case os okay or too thick?"@pavonica31

I have an iPhone 7+ in a Mophie battery case. I had to get the TapTes wireless charger as it includes a horizontal area for wireless charging that the larger phones will fit into.

Phaheem | 07. lokakuu 2019

I have the Tesla Wireless Charger - it works great with my iPhone X through a thin case no matter where I put my phone on the pad. I tried the models sold on Amazon, and while they did their job, they just did not have the fit/finish of the Tesla wireless charging pad.
