Backup camera update not working

Backup camera update not working

I was super excited to get the backup camera update so I can see cross-traffic activity. Now, I'm unexcited because it isn't working for me. First of all, I can't seem to find where to activate it, and second of all, swiping doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? (I've tried a software reset, but that hasn't changed anything).

@dewittbo Depends on the age of your car and if you got the latest software that includes it. You'll have to wait for the update and check the release notes. If it is not in the release notes, then you don't have it. For example, if your car is an AP1 based car, there are no cameras to show the sides.

Press on the cone (x) when in reverse, window should expand down to see the side cameras plus the overhead view of ths sensors. Just got upgraded to MCU2 from AP2/MCU1, so it works for me. Not sure about cars with MCU1.

My X is 2019, so should certainly work. Of course, I downloaded the update and have read the release notes where it tells me what to do: swipe when the car is in reverse. Nothing happens.

I will try pressing on the cone, although the release notes don’t say anything about doing that. I don’t know how to tell which MCU I have—and don’t even know what MCU stands for.

I'm a happy camper now. Pushing the cone icon in the corner of the backup camera view did the trick. Strange that the release notes didn't mention that.

My Model X got 2020.24.6.1 update and I don't see "Driving Visualization Improvements" , "Backup camera improvements", "Dashcam Improvements" and " Cabin Camera" in the release note. I see other features in the release note.
Mine is HW3 with FSD and AP2/MCU1.
Do I need MCU2 for "Driving Visualization Improvements" , "Backup camera improvements", "Dashcam Improvements" and " Cabin Camera" ?

Anybody else has similar update as part of 2020.24.6.1 ?

I just took the 2020.24.6.1 update on my 2017 MX FSD HW3. It doesn’t have the new back up camera update in the release notes. I believe This is because I have MCU1. I have for months and months been requesting for the MCU2 upgrade only to have my appointment cancelled in Vancouver Service. Each time they said parts not available in Canada
I had enough and reached out to the next closest Service Center (Calgary). After some back and forth I was happily astonished to find out I was able to order and confirm to have the MCU2 installed next week .
Again I reached out to Vancouver service and again no parts available.
So I am going on a 12 hour drive to receive this upgrade
Let me be clear I had to email back and forth to the service center to ensure the correct parts are ordered. Meaning MCU2 and harnesses. It was confirmed with Tesla Engineering in Fremont.
Once installed will confirm back up camera update is working

@cksingh - Hard to say about improvements. Some may not be visible. Some don't work with MCU1, and there is no cabin camera in the X. Usually, the release notes are specific to your car, and you shouldn't get notice of features that don't apply to your car.
